• I know a shallow intellect when I see it — or why Obama’s carpet and Jan Brewer’s brain freeze are two sides of the same coin. The error perfectly encapsulates the shallowness of Barack Obama's intellect, and his lack of rigor. Obama is a man who accumulated academic credentials while giving no evidence whatsoever of achieving any depth. He was the only president of the Harvard Law Review to graduate without penning a signed article in that esteemed journal. • Return to Ground Zero: Steel column salvaged from rubble of Twin Towers is raised at World Trade Center site again.Battered but not broken, a steel column that once made up the facade at the entrance to the World Trade Center in New York has been returned to Ground Zero.The 50-ton, 70-foot column was hoisted on to a support structure today at the World Trade Center site.It will eventually serve as part of the entryway to the September 11 Memorial and Museum.A second column is expected to be raised tomorrow.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

• 'Muslim' gargoyle adorns French cathedral.A Muslim stonemason in France has been immortalised by having his face carved on a gargoyle on the side of the medieval cathedral in Lyon. Ahmed Benzizine - a 59-year-old master mason who worked on the renovation - was used as a model for the carving. • Dhaka: 11 - year oldMuslim girl raped by teacher during Ramadan.An 11-year-old Muslim girl is in very serious conditions after she was raped on 2 September, during the holy month of Ramadan, by her teacher at the Hogalpatia Hafezia Madrassah, an Islamic school she attends in Madaripur District in Dhaka. • Children Under Sharia Law, Part 3: Chechen Girls Not Wearing Headscarves Targeted with Violence During Ramadan.How do you celebrate your biggest holiday of the year? Well in at least one Muslim region, men are celebrating Ramadan by using violence against girls and women who will not wear head coverings. As Sharia is spreading in parts of Russia, attacks on females of all ages is growing right along with it.Though only Reuters and Human Rights Watch has seemed to notice, brutality against women all over Chechnya has broken out lately. Chechnya is a federal republic of Russia that is almost completely Muslim and pushes Sharia law even when it goes against Russian law. • German national Stephen Alexander his Villa Trashed in Lombok after Alleged Insult to Islam.A second foreigner residing on Lombok Island in Indonesia has found himself the object of local wrath allegedly defiling Islam during the fasting month of Ramadan.Mustan, a local, said Alexander discovered that a vandal had decapitated one of the statues in front of his villa on Monday evening and took the severed head to the home of village chief Amalsah.“He came carrying the statue head and got angry at the village chief, accusing the villagers of damaging his statues.”Locals from Sidemen village on Lombok’s main tourism area of Senggigi told the Jakarta Globe on Tuesday that hundreds of residents had attacked and wrecked a villa belonging to a German national and torched his motorcycle for blaspheming Islam.Police identified the man as Stephen Alexander, 35, also known as Abu-Can Peter.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

• The New York Times Laments "A Sadly Wary Misunderstanding of Muslim-Americans." But Really Is It "Sadly Wary" Or A "Misunderstanding" At All?I want to believe that Muslims are traumatized by the unrelieved murders in Islamic lands. Frankly, the only demonstration against a mass killing (after all, they happen nearly every day) I've read about was last week in Pakistan when some 30-odd people, not designated and not guilty of doing anything except going to a Shia shrine were blown right then and there. • Feingold unfriends Obama.“President Barack Obama hopes to improve the fortunes of suddenly imperiled Wisconsin Democrats as he celebrates Labor Day with the state’s union workers on Monday. Democrats are happy for any boost he can deliver — though his appeal has been sliding — as resurgent Republicans have two big targets: three-term U.S. Sen. • Tamils in Thailand ready for latest shipment to Canada.A report that a new shipload of Tamils biding their time in Thailand are awaiting pickup by another steamer in preparation to hoist anchor and steam ahead to Canada in time for the Christmas season.While 493 illegal Tamil migrants already in custody in various detention centres in metro Vancouver from the last run last August, Canada's Federal government officials are on a world tour asking European countries how they deal with illegal migrants in their countries. • Barack Obama: The ‘Use Your Words’ President.As a screenwriter, I was able to put those words in the mouth of a loony Left character. They know politically that they have to say they support the troops. But they would feel more comfortable if American soldiers spent their time doing hurricane relief.It was painful to watch President Obama give his speech on the end of the combat mission in Iraq. It was a war he had opposed, refused to fund, and said the surge would not work. All this war stuff seemed boring to him. Obama came across as cold and aloof.
