Suicide car bomb kills 15 and wounds 21 in Baghdad (AJ).A suicide car bomber has killed at least 15 people and wounded 21 others in an attack at a checkpoint near a police training academy in northeastern Baghdad."A suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt blew himself up at the entrance of the police academy on Palestine Street," an interior ministry official said, putting the toll at 15 killed and 21 wounded.
Police and hospital sources said on Sunday that the explosion in the Iraqi capital set many cars ablaze, a source at the scene said.
The suicide bomber walked up to the main gate at the academy in a compound on Palestine street in east Baghdad, police sources told Al Jazeera
Baghdad and neighbouring areas have been plagued by a spate of suicide bomb attacks in recent weeks, often targeting the Shia commmunity and killing dozens at a time.Read the full story here.
