Kuwait - Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs wants list of churches in Kuwait, no reason given.(AN).The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Adel Al-Kandari has asked the Director-General of Kuwait Municipality to give him a list of all churches in Kuwait without giving any reason, reports Al-Watan daily quoting reliable sources. He also wants all details about these churches, their location, the geographical distribution and area of each church. He also wants to know if any land has been allotted to build a church but has not yet been used. Meanwhile, the Assistant Undersecretary for Road Sector at the Ministry of Public Works Saud Al-Naqi has called upon the Kuwait Municipality to identify the car parking area needed to be developed for the Egyptian Coptic Church in Hawalli. Flashback Could it be related to: "February, Kuwaiti MP Osama al-Munawar announced on Twitter that he was planning to submit legislation that would remove all churches in the country."The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia has said that all churches in the Arabian Peninsula must be destroyed. Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah made the controversial statement in a response to a question from a Kuwaiti NGO delegation. A Kuwaiti parliamentarian had called for a ban on the construction of new churches in February, but so far the initiative has not been passed into law.
