Bulletproof backpack sales soar after school shootings.(TDM).MAKERS of bulletproof backpacks say they have seen sales soar in wake of the Sandy Hook school massacre. The Ballistic Backpack is sold by US-based Amendment II and come with designs including Disney Princess and the Avengers. The company mostly makes bulletproof vests and body armour which are sold to police officers, soldiers and other security workers.
The bags are made with a lightweight material that can stop rounds from a handgun - and the price goes up depending what level of protection you chose - with the most expensive costing $300. Following the shootings in Connecticut, bosses at Amendment II say there has been a huge demand for the backpacks. Director Rich Brand said: "The concept came up as things happened at schools; children need protection as well." Read the full story here.
