The ' Article 725 of the Criminal Code concerns the trade of writings, drawings, or other objects contrary to public decency. Now, either the girls in bikinis were of cardboard or this article can not be taken into account for this type of crime. Same thing goes for the ' Article 726 which covers acts so contrary to public decency, but refers specifically to the foul language. So the three girls in bikinis were supposed insult (at least) the Muslims in order to be convicted under this article.

In addition, the sentence would be € 2,582 took place pursuant to art. 15, L. 24 November 1999 n. 468 and Art. 4, D Decree of 28 August 2000 No. 274 (Official Gazette. October 6, 2000, 234, SO).
