In recent years, military cooperation between Russia and China, as well as cooperation in a number of other areas, actively developed. For 20 years, Russia supplied to China many weapons and equipment, including the Su-27 (China also transferred the license to produce them), air defense systems, "Thor", "Beech", "Tunguska" anti-aircraft missile system S- 300.

In the second half of the 2000s in China, post-technological revolution, decided that is able to cope with the equipment of the army. However, China has not fully renounced arms imports: in 2009 the supply of arms and military equipment to China was 9% of Russian arms exports in 2012 - 12%.

In March 2013, Russia and China signed a framework agreement for the supply of 24 Su-35 and the four-class submarines "Lada". According to estimates of the Chinese side in the future, China and Russia can expand cooperation in the field of arms supplies, in particular, we can talk about China purchasing Russian anti-aircraft S-400 Heavy Duty 117C, transport aircraft Il-76 tanker aircraft IL-78 . 

The annual exercises of ground forces of the two countries carried out in preparation for joint action in case of aggravation of the situation in Central Asia. Russian Navy and the Chinese Navy closely in the security of maritime convoys, which are taken from Syria chemical weapons.

The maneuvers in 2015 will be held "in commemoration of the victory over the German fascism and Japanese militarism on the European and Asian theaters of war of WWII," according to a statement of the two leaders.
