IS Claims to Have Constructed ‘Dirty Bomb’ After robbing 40 Kg of Uranium. (SP).

Islamic State (IS) militants claim they have constructed a ‘dirty bomb’ after stealing 40kg of uranium from a university in Iraq, the International Business Times said.

Militants sent threatening messages on social media, describing the level of destruction the bomb would cause if it was to be activated in London.

We found some Radio active material from Mosul university,” an IS fanatic identified as Hamayun Tariq, known by his nickname Muslim-al-Britani twitted. “We’ll find out what dirty bombs are and what they do. We’ll also discuss what might happen if one actually went off in a public area”.

Islamic State Internet Ban Cannot Halt Radicalization of Muslims Back in July, Reuters reported that the IS had stolen nuclear materials kept at Mosul University. “Terrorist groups have seized control of nuclear material at the sites that came out of the control of the state,” said Iraq’s UN Ambassador Mohamed Ali Alhakim, as quoted by Reuters. He also added that the stolen materials could potentially be used to manufacture weapons of mass destruction. More here.
