Catherine Ashton to stay as EU coordinator at Iranian nuclear talks - EU
Catherine Ashton to stay as EU coordinator at Iranian nuclear talks - EU. (Taz).
Catherine Ashton will stay on as the European Union’s adviser on the talks between the P5+1 group of international mediators /the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany/ and Iran on the latter’s nuclear programme, the European Union said on Friday, TASS reported.
“To ensure the continuity of negotiations, which require full-time dedication, Catherine Ashton will facilitate the talks,” the European Union said in statement.
From November 1, 2014, Ashton was superseded as the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy by Federica Mogherini of Italy.
Despite this fact, Ashton continued to coordinate the Iranian nuclear talks till November 24, when an agreement on the Iranian nuclear programme was expected to be signed. However Iran and the six powers failed to sign this document but decided to extend the negotiating process till June 30. Hmmm.....'Business as usual'

Dershowitz: Force May Be Israel’s Only Option Against Iran Nukes.
Dershowitz: Force May Be Israel’s Only Option Against Iran Nukes. (Newsmax).
If negotiators allow Iran to continue with its nuclear energy program, Israel “may have no choice” but to launch pre-emptive military strikes against Iranian targets to delay development of nuclear weapons, former Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax TV on Monday.
And even then, Dershowitz told “MidPoint” host Ed Berliner, Israeli military action can only “set back” Iran’s nuclear program by a few years, not destroy it for good - a capability only the United States military possesses.
Israeli officials are reportedly weighing strikes, fearing that a looming international agreement will leave Iran room to build nuclear weapons under cover of a peaceful energy program.
Dershowitz, author of “Terror Tunnels: The Case for Israel’s Just War Against Hamas,” called military strikes on Iran “the second worst option” - the worst being a scenario in which Iran becomes a nuclear power, given past threats by Iranian politicians to annihilate the Jewish state.
“You cannot allow a country with leaders like that to have access to nuclear weapons,” said Dershowitz, calling Iran a “suicide nation” and “the world’s greatest exporter of terrorism.”

Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan: "the Islamic Republic can not trust the West"
Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan says that the Islamic Republic can not trust the west.(Taz).
Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan said that the Islamic Republic can not trust the west, while commenting on ongoing nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 group, the country’s Fars news agency reported Nov. 24.
The Iranian minister said that a comprehensive nuclear agreement is possible only if the counter side changes its “arrogant temper”.
Dehghan also argued that the western side needs nuclear agreement more than Iran.
On the other hand, Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary guards Corps (IRGC) said that the nuclear case is just an excuse for the US and its allies to put pressure on the Islamic Republic.
Iran is under pressure for its independent positions not for the nuclear issue, Jafari said, adding if the country’s officials believe this fact, they may change their negotiating approach.
He said that the resolution of nuclear issue will not stop “the US hostility towards the Islamic Republic.”
World order is changing and the US should accept Iran as a key regional power and give up excessive demands, Jafari added.
