Will the real Obama show up !President plans to trade Israel's support for Palestine's .Earlier this year, President Obama drove U.S.-Israeli relations - to use one of President Obama's oft-employed analogies - into a ditch. Arguably, ties between the two countries were never more strained than last spring when Mr. Obama serially insulted the elected leader of Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, vilified his country and tried to euchre it into making territorial, political and other ill-advised concessions to Arabs determined as ever to destroy the Jewish state. Unfortunately, what the president has in mind for Israel after the election next week will make his previous treatment of the Jewish state look like the good old days.To be sure, ties between the United States and Israel - far and away America's most important and loyal friend in the Middle East - have improved lately from the nadir to which Mr. Obama plunged them since he took office. That has nothing to do, however, with a change of heart or agenda on the part of the president and his administration.Rather, it is a reflection of a cynical calculation forced upon the Obama White House by its panicked congressional allies. Already laboring under the backbreaking burden of their association with a president and his agenda that have become huge liabilities, Democrats on Capitol Hill faced wholesale defections of their Jewish constituents and funders if their party's leader persisted in his assault on Israel. Public letters and private conversations had the desired effect: Mr. Obama began treating his Israeli counterpart with a modicum of respect and the optics of a restarted peace process - however short-lived or doomed - helped conjure up an image of a renewed partnership between the two nations.Make no mistake about it, though: Once the 2010 elections are behind him, it is a safe bet that Mr. Obama will revert to form by once again exhibiting an unmistakable and ruthless determination to bend Israel to his will.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • My brother and the deadly lure of al-Shabab jihad.Among Britain's Somali community there are alarming rumours about the number of young men heading to Somalia to fight with the Islamist militia al-Shabab. But when we asked to meet someone who has gone or knows someone who has gone, we were met with blank faces. Then, in a draughty community hall in north London, we were introduced to a young woman - we will call her Amina - with a story to tell. Amina is Somali-born but international in her outlook. A student in London, she works part time in a fashionable clothes shop and likes to travel the world. She says her younger brother was much the same, a true Brit who liked his friends and football. But there is a lot about her brother that she does not know. Last year after graduating from university, the 21-year-old announced he was going to Egypt with his best friend to study religion. From there, he phoned home and sounded happy but after a few months, his tone changed. "It seemed someone was there with him and every time he tried to say something, they would cut the phone off," she said.Later, she learned he was in Somalia with al-Shabab, and six weeks ago, she spoke to him for the last time. He said "make sure mum's OK. I'll find a way to be back". A few days later, his friend rang with news that her brother had been killed by a missile.   • HT:JIDF.New Terrorists Come From Within United States.The newest terrorists against America are potentially a bigger threat since they come from within, according to a series of NPR reports recently published.One such example is Adnan Shukrijumah, who is considered the highest-ranking American in al-Qaeda and believed by Intelligence officials to be the successor of the mastermind of the September 11 terror attacks, Khalid Sheik Mohammed.Adnan Shukrijumah was born in 1975 and grew up in Trinidad and Saudi Arabia. In the 1990s he began to occasionally visit Brooklyn and eventually moved with his mother and five brothers and sisters to Florida. He even took classes at Broward College for several years, where he studied chemistry in the late 1990s and never graduated.Several weeks ago, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula released the second issue of its English-language magazine called Inspire. The 74-page edition featured an article entitled “I Am Proud To Be a Traitor to America”, written by a 24 year-old former resident of North Carolina and New York City named Samir Khan.   • UN investigator: Migrants suffer worst racism.Migrants in Europe, the United States and many other parts of the world are subjected to the worst forms of racial discrimination and xenophobia, a UN independent investigator said Monday.Githu Muigai, a Kenyan lawyer, said many other groups are also victims including ethnic minorities attacked because of their minority status, individuals stopped and searched because of their perceived religious or ethnic background, and soccer players insulted because of their color.He reiterated his opposition to Arizona's controversial immigration law because it compromises basic international human rights that migrants are entitled to.On the issue of inciting racial or religious hatred, he said criticizing religious doctrines and teachings is a legitimate exercise of freedom of expression and freedom of religion. But he expressed concern at violence and discrimination against individuals based on their religious beliefs, attacks on religious sites, and religious and ethnic profiling.Of course it's not a problem for the UN to persecute Christians,Jews .   • Iran Plans to Execute Woman in Stoning Case.Human rights observers warn that Iran plans to execute a woman whose sentence to stoning has drawn international condemnation.Contacts inside in Iran say authorities in Tehran have given the go-ahead to prison officials in Tabriz to execute Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, possibly as early as Wednesday, though it's not clear yet by what method, Mina Ahadi of the International Committees.Ahadi and her organization are calling on foreign governments to put pressure on Iran to issue a stay of execution, as they believe that Western governments are now Ashtiani's greatest hope, possibly her only hope.They also are calling on the public to come out Tuesday and protest the latest development in the hope of raising attention and awareness to the case and press for release of Ashtiani, as well as her son and lawyer, who are missing.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

  • HT:WND.Leaving out 'Creator' dates to U.N. report.Controversial State Department document says all 'equal and endowed' with rights.President Obama's omission of the Creator in his citation of the Declaration of Independence in recent speeches has drawn media attention, but federal documents reveal his administration began altering his reference to the founding document at least two weeks earlier than believed.In the Universal Periodic Review submitted by the Department of State to the United Nations in August, the administration stated, "The story of the United States of America is one guided by universal values shared the world over – that all are created equal and endowed with inalienable rights."The Declaration states: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." President Obama repeatedly has stated only that all men "are endowed" with certain rights. All across the civilized world, people track anti-Semitism, expose it, oppose it, decry it. And yet no one seriously considers the possibility of bringing about its end. Is this because of some lack of capacity or courage? Or do we face in anti-Semitism something, to use the phrase of the Yiddish writer L. Shapiro, as eternal as the eternal God? Two other scourges of modern times have seen their power greatly diminished if not eliminated. Fascism was crushed in World War II, and Communism lost its political base in 1991. These movements still have their adherents, but their sustaining polities went down to defeat. Yet anti-Semitism, which figured prominently in both, has metastasized and, according to one of its foremost historians, Robert Wistrich, “will probably get worse.”Many reasons—historical, religious, sociological, ideological, even epidemiological—have been adduced for the persistence of what Anthony Julius has termed the “sewer” of anti-Semitism. All have merit. But the one reason that remains but dimly understood, and even stubbornly resisted, is the political—and yet it is the one, I believe, that accounts for the phenomenon’s continuing success. Kneedler. "We are dependent as a court on counsel being responsive. . . . You keep saying the problem is that a state officer is told to do something. That's not a matter of preemption. . . .   • House arrest for all when Obama visits.It may be an honour to have a world leader stay at your hotel, but for the staff it’s a headache.A Mumbai hotel is shutting its doors to other guests as it readies to receive Barack Obama, Indian media reported.The US President is staying at the hotel on November 6 and 7, as part of a state visit to India. It has hosted other heads of state such as Queen Elizabeth II, but when Obama visits, the entire hotel turns into an offsite White House, say reports. Apart from the 12-room presidential suite, three satellites ensure his staff can operate exactly the way as it does in Washington. And a whopping 50 people will be working round the clock in a ‘cabinet room’, briefing room and a special control room.But with all 570 rooms booked out by Obama, hotel staff will be under virtual house arrest. Worse, they can’t keep their mobile phones with them. “In case of an emergency, they can use a secured phone line, which will be under round-the-clock surveillance for obvious reasons,” a source in the hotel’s security team told the DNA newspaper.“Only 10 per cent of the staff will be present at the hotel on November 6 and 7. The rest have been given leave,” he said. A source close to the hotel’s management said that even among the 10 per cent staff, only a core team of 125 will serve the Obamas. “Security is so tight that apart from personnel directly responsible for Obama, no one, not even members of the presidential delegation, will be allowed on the president’s floor.   • Tomas Graham: Obama will be pressed to walk back from reset with Russia.Will there be consequences for the foreign policy? Obviously, yes.   • U.S. Embassy In Armenia Clarifies Biden's Genocide Comment.The U.S. Embassy in Armenia has issued a statement about an online video in which U.S. Vice President Joe Biden says Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian told him not to "force" the issue of the Armenian genocide during Turkish-Armenian reconciliation negotiations. Biden tells the activist to "tell [the Armenian-American community] that it was the Armenian president that called me and said, 'Look, do not force this issue now, while we're in negotiations [with Turkey on reconciliation].'"In a statement late on October 29, the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan said Sarkisian "did not raise the issue of the content of President Obama's statement for Armenian Remembrance Day or seek a delay in consideration of House Resolution 252 [calling for the affirmation of the Armenian genocide].""Instead, the discussions between Vice President Biden and President Sarkisian that were recently referenced by [Biden] were about the need to take immediate steps to improve Armenian-Turkish relations," the statement said.   • 'Smiling' woman 'stabbed MP twice in stomach after confronting him about Iraq war'.A Muslim woman tried to kill a Labour MP by stabbing him in the stomach 'in revenge' for him voting for the Iraq War, a court heard today.Roshonara Choudhry, 21, is accused of knifing Stephen Timms twice in a shock attack during a constituency surgery meeting after she greeted the MP with a smile and offered him the hand of friendship.A second later the fanatic allegedly lunged forward, repeatedly plunging a three inch kitchen knife into his stomach, sending the MP 'reeling and staggering' backwards, before staff jumped in to wrestle the blade from her grasp.After the attack, she coolly told police: ''I just pushed it (the knife) in like how it is if you punch someone.'I was trying to kill him because he wanted to invade Iraq.'I was not going to stop (stabbing him) until someone made me. 'I wanted to kill him.   • Al Qaeda claims responsibility for Baghdad attacks, threats to the Copts.An Iraqi group linked to Al Qaeda, the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) claimed responsibility for the attack yesterday in an Eastern-rite Catholic church in Baghdad (where the faithful killed were 37, seven policemen and five terrorists) and also gave an ultimatum of 48 hours to the Coptic Church of Egypt, to free two wives of priests who (according to the terrorists) are "imprisoned in monasteries" because, they converted to Islam. This according to reports from the American centre for monitoring Islamist websites SITE. "A group of angered Mujahideen among the faithful Allah - according to a statement from the terrorist group - has carried out a raid on one of the shelters of obscene idolatry, which had always been used by Christians of Iraq as a headquarters for the fight against the religion of Islam and which supports those who fight this religion. " The Islamic State of Iraq said the attack on the church, was "to help our poor Muslim sisters prisoners in the Muslim country of Egypt." The ISI has given the Egyptian Coptic Church 48 hours to free these women "imprisoned in infidel monasteries of in idolatrous churches in Egypt."According to SITE, the Iraqi terrorists in their threat to Egyptian Copts refer to two Coptic priests' wives, who are reportedly segregated in religious structures because one has apparently converted to Islam and the other would have expressed her intention to follow suit. The ISI posted an internet message attributed to the head of the suicide commandos in Baghdad that threatens Egyptian Christians and identifies the women as Camellia Shehata and Wafa Constantine.Source.Click here for comments.

That's the fountain of American wisdom from which all else flows.From respect for God, our Creator, comes respect for each individual that God has made. The foundational principle of American government is that human souls come in only one color, in one type, and at one value. In God's sight, we are all created equal. And since our very founding, good Americans of all stripes have worked to further this principle. As if to highlight this fundamental loss of respect for our Creator as the source of citizens' unalienable rights, our big-government elitist in chief feels perfectly free to simply remove God from the American equal-rights paradigm, as he did when speaking to the Hispanic Caucus last month. From respect for each individual flows the idea that liberty is a fundamental -- unalienable by government -- human right.   • Cairo rejects Al Qaeda ultimatum and denies "conversion" of the two women.Egypt has rejected the request of the alleged terrorists who demand the "release" of two Muslim women, who according to Al Qaeda are being forcibly held in monasteries in the country."We categorically reject that our name be linked to such criminal acts," reads a note from the Foreign Ministry in Cairo, which "strongly condemns" the attack.   • Christian graves vandalised on the island of Imvros.The island, birthplace of the Ecumenical Patriarch, although inhabited almost exclusively by the Orthodox population, was handed to Turkey in 1923, which did not comply with the rules imposed by the Treaty of Lausanne. Bartholomew: vandalism is due to the "usual known-unknown suspects." It seeks to undermine the government new openings.On the night between 28 and 29 October the feast day of the Republic founded by Kemal Ataturk, unknown assailants entered, in the cemetery of the island of Panagia Imvros (Goikocea in Turkish) and seriously vandalised 78 graves (see photo). A similar act had been committed in these parts 20 years ago. The incident, it is rumoured on the island, indicates an attempt to create panic among about 350 Christians left on this island.   • HT:BigPeace.The View from Israel: Even After Midterms Obama Won’t Abandon Course.On Tuesday, US voters are set to repudiate US President Barack Obama’s agenda for their country. Unfortunately, based on his behavior in the face of a similar repudiation last January, it is safe to assume that Obama will not abandon his course.Last year, in an attempt to block Obama’s plan to nationalize healthcare, Massachusetts voters elected Republican Scott Brown to the Senate. Brown was elected because he pledged to block Obamacare in the US Senate. Rather than heed the voters’ message and abandon his plans, Obama abandoned the voters. Instead of accepting his defeat, Obama changed the rules of the game and bypassed the Senate.So it is safe to assume that for the next two years, Obama will do everything he can to bypass the Congress and govern by executive orders and regulations. Although much can be done in this fashion, Congress’s control of the purse strings will check his domestic agenda.In matters of foreign policy however, Obama will be less burdened by – but not immune – to Congressional oversight. We can therefore expect him to devote far more energy to foreign affairs in the next two years than he devoted in the last two years.This bodes ill for Israel. Since entering office, Obama has shown that his primary foreign policy goal is to remake the US’s relationship with the Muslim world. Obama has also repeatedly demonstrated that compelling Israel to make concessions to the Palestinians and empowering international institutions that seek to delegitimize Israel are his preferred means of advancing this goal.The post-election Obama administration will make the lives of Israel’s leaders unpleasant. But Netanyahu and his ministers are not powerless in the grip of circumstances. They have powerful allies and supporters in Washington and the confidence of the Israeli people.   • Islamic group protests against Pamela Anderson's disaster help.JAKARTA, INDONESIA : Actress and model Pamela Anderson has donated USD 25,000 to an Indonesian charity that helps disaster victims, but the funds have been questioned by the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) because they come from Anderson's latest Playboy nude photo shoot.Jakarta chairman, Habib Salim Alatas, described the donation as unlawful. "If she wants to do nude shoots, it means she is challenging a bigger disaster to happen in Indonesia. It's not allowed," Salim said, explaining that even though Anderson has donated the funds "whole-heartedly," the Islamic Defenders  would refuse the aid because it is a religious prohibition.The FPI is known for their violent tactics. In April 2006, the hard-line Islamic group attacked Playboy's office in Jakarta by throwing stones. There's really good reason for the former moreso than the latter. Obama, but mostly his surrogates, claim him to be a Christian, yet his actions directly contradict that notion. Obama by his actions has been hostile towards Christianity. In contrast, he has been more than friendly to Islam, going so far as to sending NASA on an exploration mission to the "Muslim World." Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei's fourth official trip to Qom, one of the world's two great centers of Shiism (the other is Najaf, in Iraq), finally took place after much planning and preparation. Throughout his reign, Khamenei has made many secret trips to Qom to talk to his allies in the seminaries there, and at the beginning of every Iranian New Year he travels to the holy city of Mashhad in northeastern Iran. But his latest official trip to Qom was very different from those in the past, due to the surrounding circumstances.   • Afghan Women Joining Armed Forces In Greater Numbers, Challenging Convention.Khatool Muhammadzai loves martial arts, underwent commando training in pre-Taliban Afghanistan, and has logged 500 official jumps as the only female paratrooper in the country's post-Taliban military.But the middle-aged general, Afghanistan's highest-ranking woman officer, wants to be known as a peacemaker.For Muhammadzai, the question is elementary."It's everybody's duty to serve their country, to protect it," the general says. "Why shouldn't Afghan women get involved? So many women from foreign countries are in Afghanistan as a part of international coalition troops and to protect our nation."For us, Afghanistan is our own home. Why shouldn't we serve our own country?"But just because most women soldiers are not destined for combat does not mean they will be kept out of harm's way."There are a number of problems that cannot be resolved without women officers," says Jamila Mujahid, a Kabul-based journalist who covers women's issues. "For instance, searching private houses, security checks alongside roads, streets. These all are currently being performed by men, but we need women working alongside them because Afghanistan's traditions and culture simply do not allow men to check women's bodies or women's bags. Only women can do this because it preserves women's dignity. That's why it has had a good effect so far."For women, the risks can be even greater. Taliban militants frequently target female students, teachers, journalists -- basically anyone who studies outside their homes. In 2008, the most high-profile police woman in Afghanistan, police Colonel Malalai Kakar, was assassinated while heading to work in the southern town of Kandahar.The Defense Ministry says it tries as much as it can to protect women in uniform.But General Muhammadzai, who says she get frequent death threats from "forces who don't want Afghan women to have their rightful place in society," says the reward is greater than the risk."We cannot and should not wait until these threats, risks, and problems disappear," she says. "We have to fight to overcome them, to build a better country.   • Grimsvötn volcano is located under Vatnajökull ice cap in central Iceland and waking up. Two major volcanic centers lie beneath the ice, the Bardarbunga volcanic centre and the Grimsvötn volcanic centre. Grimsvötn centre is the more active of the two. About every 5-10 years glacial melting causes large floods (jökulhlaup) on the sandur plain. Eruptions at Grimsvotn Volcano are phreatomagmatic.A possible eruption has begun at Grimsvotn volcano, Iceland. A flood started in Gigja in south-east Iceland. The disturbance occurred under the Vatnajokull glacier near Grimsvotn Volcano on 31st October 2010. There was an increase in flow of water by 30 cm but other rivers running from the glacier are dry. The flood may take 4-5 days to reach maximum.
