Islam forbids playing an instrument i wonder why?

Yes, I Wonder why instrument playing is forbidden? Such weird people. Thank God we are not like them. Anything that is good or bring happiness also seems to be forbidden with them.
Sometimes I wish they would just have a beer and go smoke a joint! grrr..
