The time where we add up our circulation figures and our ad dollars, and realize that there’s no way we’re going to be able to pay for a second Switzerland vacation this year. But that’s all right, because we’re not in it for the money. It’s about journalism, fame and having a Constitutionally protected right to lie as much as we want.Right now we’re hanging on to the future by our fingernails. Because in the latest survey we found that the only people who read our magazine either don’t know how to use a computer or are sitting in the dentist’s office and trying to bury their fear in our infographic about the cast of the Jersey Shore.We’re desperate. I mean we’ve tried everything. And we’ve partnered with such leading news organizations as CNN, the Huffington Post, the Onion and AskMen.com, but nothing is working. And somewhere in between such vital stories as the “Top 10 Famous Toilets” and “5 Best Kim Jong Il Hairstyles” (Editor’s Note: only one of those is a real Time Magazine story, guess which one. Nope, you guessed wrong) , we have to try and find geopolitical stories that somebody actually cares about, and that we can render in a simplistic fashion for our core audience of people who are just happening to browse at a newstand while waiting for the bus.And let’s face it that subject comes down to Israel.Read the whole story here.Click here for comments.
- Obama’s Muslim Mess.“The bottom line is this – if the Koran is burned, our troops will be in greater danger. It’s that simple…”That remark came from a certain military officer (an officer who will remain unnamed here), during a special press briefing I attended regarding upcoming foreign troop deployments.The news of a threatened “Koran burning ceremony” to be held in Florida was being widely reported at the time, and a journalist had asked the Officer for comment.In response to the Officer’s comment, I followed up by asking “if Americans didn’t exercise their Second Amendment rights, would the troops be safer?”“ With all due respect, I think you’re politicizing the matter, sir,” the Officer said to me, “and I have no further comment…”.It was appropriate that the Officer had “no further comment.” But I wasn’t politicizing anything. Thanks to the good work done by the Treasury Department, terrorist organizations like Hezbollah have found it increasingly hard to obtain or transfer funds through financial institutions. As a result, Hezbollah has increased their presence in drug trafficking to obtain funds that cannot be traced. Further, some authorities have opined that Hezbollah and other Islamic radicals have been welcomed into Mexico and other Latin American countries by the cartels because of their access to cheap narcotics from Afghanistan. One high ranking Mexican Army officer, who asked not to be named for security reasons, states they believe Hezbollah may be training the Mexican drug cartels? enforcers in the art of bomb making. This might lead to Israel-like car bombings of Mexican/USA border personnel or National Guard units in the border regions. This militant threat could be exacerbated by the current tensions between the US and Iran, since Iran directs Hezbollah.A taskforce could explore all these issues.
