• Why some fear China and India are on the road to war.When Manmohan Singh warned of China's "new assertiveness" last week, Asia watchers snapped to attention. The normally sage Indian prime minister accused Beijing of seeking to expand its reach in South Asia. With China muscling for resources and geopolitical clout, India, he warned, had better take heed. The timing of the rare public rebuke was especially provocative, as it came hot on the heels of a series of diplomatic flare-ups between the two giants. Temperatures on the continent are rising in step with the Asian rivals' growth.Last month, China denied a visa to an Indian general on the grounds he was based in disputed Jammu and Kashmir. That was retaliation, experts figure, for India's earlier denial of a visa to a senior Chinese diplomat. China has, for more than a year, been angering India by refusing to issue normal visas to residents of Indian Kashmir. It is also stoking Indian fears of being encircled by a Chinese infrastructure build-up in northern Pakistan, and Indian Ocean port and rail developments in Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Last month, India's excitable media seized on reports that China has stationed as many as 11,000 troops in northern Pakistan, feeding growing fears of the "Chinese dragon." For now, a planned defence exchange between the two has been halted at New Delhi's behest.To many Chinese, according to a recent opinion poll, India remains a backward country, teeming with "poor, homeless people," not a rising giant. Their mutual incomprehension does little to build friendships.To Caron, there's nothing new or noteworthy about China and India's cat-and-mouse game--"they've been at it for 300 years." Certainly none of it signals a march to war. Bad as it may seem, Beijing and Delhi are also sitting down for their 14th round of border talks, and recently orchestrated a joint walkout at the Copenhagen Climate Conference. The outside world's interest does, however, serve to underscore the immense and growing power of the Asian rivals. • HT:BacktoBasics.Supremes get case against ‘putative’ President Obama Petition.‘There exists possibility that he could be an illegal alien’.A petition for writ of certiorari has been filed with the high court in the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision to uphold the dismissal of a case brought by attorney Mario Apuzzo on behalf of Charles F. Kerchner Jr., Lowell T. Patterson, Darrell James Lenormand and Donald H. Nelsen Jr.Named as defendants are Barack Hussein Obama II, the U.S., Congress, the Senate, the House of Representatives, former Vice President Dick Cheney and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.The case alleges Congress failed to follow the Constitution, which “provides that Congress must fully qualify the candidate ‘elected’ by the Electoral College Electors.”The trial court rejected the case based on issues of “standing” and never addressed the core issues presented. The appellate court did the same.Now Apuzzo has escalated the issue to the highest court in the land, suggesting that “the constitutional issue … cannot be decided by the political parties and a voting majority. Our nation is ultimately guided by the Constitution and the rule of law, not by majority rule. Allowing the political parties and the voting majorities to decide constitutional issues would be tantamount to amending the Constitution without going through the amendment process prescribed by Article V of the Constitution and abandoning the basic principles of republican government.”In an announcement about the filing, Apuzzo said Obama not only has not proven, as required under the Constitution, his status as a “natural born citizen,” but “he has hidden all his early life records including his original long-form birth certificate, early school records, college records, travel and passport records needed to prove he is even a born citizen of the United States.”His case argues, essentially, that even if Obama was born in Hawaii as he claims, he still fails to reach the Constitution’s mandated eligibility requirement.And it could be even worse.“Surely the Constitution would not leave someone like the petitioners without any remedy to protect the same rights which the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution recognize as their unalienable rights to life, liberty, and property,” the petition states.The petition explains the nation’s Founders required the “natural born citizen” status “to provide a ‘strong check’ on foreign influence making its way into our government and specifically in the office of president and commander in chief of the military.”The Supreme Court previously has rejected out of hand a series of filings regarding Obama’s eligibility, but most of them were filed under an “emergency” procedure that approached the high court before having worked their way through the trial court and appellate court processes. There was no immediate word whether the Supreme Court would accept the Kerchner case.The petition also seeks the recusal of justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, who have been appointed by Obama, as having potential conflicts since Obama’s eligibility ultimately could impact their own jobs.Justice Clarence Thomas, in an appearance before Congress, previously said the court has been “evading” the Obama eligibility issue.I salute the defendants! • British schools where girls must wear the Islamic veil. Hundreds of girls are bring forced by British schools to wear the Islamic veil in a move which has been heavily criticised by mainstream Muslims.Islamic schools have introduced uniform policies which force girls to wear the burka or a full headscarf and veil known as the niqab.Moderate followers of Islam said yesterday that enforcement of the veil was a "dangerous precedent" and that children attending such schools were being "brainwashed".Critics warned that the spectacle of burka-clad pupils entering and leaving the schools at the start and end of the day could damage relations between Muslim and non-Muslim communities.Ed Husain, co-director of Quilliam, the counter-extremist think-tank, said: "It is absurd that schools are enforcing this outdated ritual – one that which sends out a damaging message that Muslims do not want to fully partake in British society.He added: "The enforcing of the niqab on young girls is not a mainstream Islamic practice – either in Britain or in most Muslim-majority countries."It is a desert practice which belongs to another century and another world." Dr Taj Hargey, an imam and chairman of the Muslim Educational Trust of Oxford, said: "This is very disturbing and sets a dangerous precedent. "It means that Muslim children are being brainwashed into thinking they must segregate and separate themselves from mainstream society."The use of taxpayers' money for such institutions should be absolutely opposed. • Ahmadinejad: Israel savage dog unleashed in region.Iran's president calls for US leaders to be 'buried' over threats of military action against it. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is known for brash rhetoric in addressing the West, but in a speech Sunday he used a deeply offensive insult in calling for an undertaker to bury US leaders."They have an incomprehensible nerve threatening us and saying all options are on the table. • HT:WND.Fort Hood soldiers told to list private weapons.Base requires make, model, serial number and who owns them.But a soldier on base who contacted WND regarding the demand for information about off-base weapons said that's not the way it was presented to soldiers. "At the end of the day formation … we were all required to state whether we owned a firearm. Then those that owned firearms were required to have their names put on a watch list that included registration status of the firearms and where the firearms were kept," wrote the soldier, who asked for anonymity to avoid retaliation. "The list included those … who live off post in privately owned homes," the soldier confirmed. "I feel like I have been violated and my 2nd Amendment rights infringed," the soldier wrote. "Last year Homeland Security said that veterans are a potential threat to the country, now I and many others in my unit are on a watch list because we own guns."The action recalls similar disclosure demands on which WND has previously reported at Fort Bliss in Texas and Fort Campbell in Kentucky.Second Amendment advocates have been alarmed, since President Obama took office, by a series of actions, including his advocacy of an international treaty that could require those who reload their ammunition to obtain federal permits.WND also reported when the Department of Homeland Security issued a report titled "Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," that stated, "Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to right-wing extremists." We shouldn’t. Islam is politics or it is nothing at all, but, of course, it is politics with a spiritual dimension, … which will stop at nothing until the West is no more, until the West has … been well and truly Islamized.”These are not just statements by opponents of Islam. Islamic scholars say the same thing. There cannot be any doubt about the nature of Islam to those who have read the Koran, the Sira and the Hadith. Abul Ala Maududi, the influential 20th century Pakistani Islamic thinker, wrote – I quote, emphasizing that these are not my words but those of a leading Islamic scholar – “Islam is not merely a religious creed [but] a revolutionary ideology and jihad refers to that revolutionary struggle … to destroy all states and governments anywhere on the face of the earth, which are opposed to the ideology and program of Islam.”Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

• Pakistan Muslim Militants Kill Christian Family, Attack Pastor.Suspected Islamic militants shot and killed a Christian lawyer, his wife and their five children in northwestern Pakistan, just days after a pastor nearly died in a seperate attack linked to Muslim extremism, local Christians and rights activists said.The victim and his wife Ruby Paul, along with their five children ages 6 to 17, had been shot to death, he said. "On September 28 at around 8 a.m., we received a call from Sher Khan colony that people heard gunshots, and there was a group of people who ran from a house and drove away," Khan said. "We went and found seven bodies in a house."Paul’s Muslim neighbor, Mushtaq Khan, told reporters a group of armed men had threatened the lawyer the previous day. "On Monday a group of armed men stopped Paul and took him by the collar and said, ‘Leave the town in 24 hours – we know how to throw out Christians, we will not allow even a single Christian to live here. We will hang them all in the streets, so that no Christian would ever dare to enter the Hazara land."ICC’s Regional Manager for South Asia, Jonathan Racho, said his group is "deeply concerned with the ongoing attacks" against Christians in Pakistan. • One Nation Rally was a big flop.The October 2, 2010, One Nation Rally, held at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, in Washington, D.C., can be summed up in three words: complain, complain, complain. The rally appeared more like a contest, to see which special interest group can outdo the other as the biggest victim of society.The One Nation Rally, had sparse crowds, empty seats in the front of the podium, and people roaming around that held little interest in the speakers. In fact, several speakers attempted to provoke the audience to chant a slogan, only to fail in embarrassment. Even the great orator, Jesse Jackson, failed to whip the crowd up to chant his famous: “Keep Hope Alive” slogan.The audience of the October 2, One Nation Rally, had a crowd full of angry faces, that never challenged the individual to do more, but instead, they challenged their nation to give them more.With all the members of the teachers union crying out for more money and higher salaries, you would of thought at least one of those teachers, could of stood up at the podium, and recited a speech from a famous Democratic President, that said: “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.”Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

• Sante Fe High School tracking Students Through Their ID Badges.The Smart Badge program started this school year, and is getting mixed reviews from parents and students.Patrick Mann is a senior and said he feels like he’s in prison.“Normally, the one people you would track are say prisoners or somebody that’s done something very wrong,” Mann said.All students at Santa Fe Junior High and Santa Fe High School have to wear the radio frequency IDs.The sensors are in the ceiling on campus, but Mann said they keep tabs of you off campus too.One parent said she just doesn’t like the school tracking her son’s every move.Letters were sent home about the new badges and an update was printed in the district’s newsletter.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

• Waitrose forced to ditch halal lamb from Duchy range.Waitrose is to introduce a range of non-halal lamb products as a response to customers’ concerns about its meat supplies.Until now, all lamb sold by the store has been slaughtered in accordance with Islamic law, with a Muslim reciting a prayer in Arabic over the meat. But Waitrose said last night that, from now on, organic Welsh lamb from its Duchy Originals range – established by Prince Charles to market produce from his estates – will no longer be halal.Food author Carina Norris said: ‘It’s good to know that supermarkets are listening to people and giving consumers a choice and diversity of range of products.’Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

• More veiled controversy: Two Egyptian universities restrict veiled professors.Reflecting ongoing controversy in the Middle East regarding female dress, two prominent Egyptian universities announced upcoming bans on professors teaching while wearing the face veil or niqaab. Yesterday, Ain Shams and Fayoum Universities in the Cairo area warned female faculty that the new measures would take effect during the current academic year. The Egyptian bans follow last year’s prohibitions against veiled students taking exams (and possibly using their apparel to cheat). The new measure is yet to be approved by Egypt’s University Council and the Higher Council of Universities, but is expected to take effect during the current academic year.“Fully veiled professors are not going to be banned from working at the university--They will only not be allowed to teach," explained Ain Shams University President Dr. Maged al-Deeb. In Yemen, for example, female candidates for teaching positions at the two leading English-language institutes in Sana’a are told that full-face veils are forbidden because they are “not conducive to teaching pronunciation and listening comprehension.”Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

• Chief Imam Ceric widens Bosnia’s Jihad net.Kuwaiti Ambassador to Bosnia inaugurated a Kuwaiti funded mosque while a corresponding Kuwait based Islamic “charity”, the International Islamic Charitable Organization, was passing out Quaran’s to the Bosnian Muslim youngsters who were capable of memorizing the Quaran by heart.Notes The Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Report:Considered by some to be a leading “liberal” Islamic leader, Mustafa Ceric is tied to the global Muslim Brotherhood through his membership in the European Council for Fatwa and Research (ECFR), headed by Brotherhood leader Youssef Qaradawi and by his participation in the U.K.-based “Radical Middle Way” consisting of a wide range of associated scholars representing the global Muslim Brotherhood.Established by an Egyptian Sheikh Al-Qaradawi, the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) enjoys full support of Kuwait’s royal family and government. The purpose of the IICO, as described by Al-Qaradawi, is “first and foremost goal was practical resistance to the frenzied wave of Christianization within the Muslim world” by which Al-Qaradawi means spread of Islam as seen by the Muslim Brotherhood.Nor are there any “direct” links involving Bosnia’s Chief Imam Ceric so the Western insistence that Ceric should be prefixed with the misleading attribute of “moderate” may be Washington’s expression of gratitude for keeping his Islamic terror links “indirect”.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

• Muslims threaten ethnic Serb over prayer meeting.Ethnic Serb Darko Panovic received a death threat from an “unknown” source after announcing plans for a Christian prayer meeting in a city of Novi Pazar that hosts large number of Muslims.Panovic had plans to hold a prayer meeting on the corner of two streets during which time church music and prayers were to be played out of a car with speakers.Panovic asked the police to provide security for his October 10 prayer in Novi Pazar.Panovic said that death threats came after a Muslim web site sandzakpress.net published a “report” from Panovic’s group describing how Christian Serbs are planing a march in the “heart” of Novi Pazar which they deem as a Muslim capital of an independent state of Sandzak that some adherents in that area seek to make.As for the threats, Panovic says that he received calls at home by unknown men threatening to behead him and to impale him in the traditional Muslim Turkish way.On the web site comments threatening to kill Panovic or glorifying Islam were also published.“We will slaughter all Serbs and kill them in Novi Pazar like we did in our Muslim Sarajevo,” read one message.“Run you Serbs, here come the Turks… Even Belgrade will be too little for you… From Sarajevo to Iran will be the land of Musulman,” read another.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.
