• Ankara seeks guarantees on Israel in missile shield talks with US.Turkey also requests participation in decision-making and instant access to intelligence on any missile threat to be collected by sensors that will be deployed as part of the missile shield. The US has principally given the green light to the Turkish request for instant access to information but work is still under way to decide how the mechanism would work.Many in Turkey believe that protecting Israel from a possible missile attack by Iranians is the secret purpose of the US-pioneered missile defense system. But Israel is not a NATO member and thus cannot receive protection from a NATO system. Israel also does not need protection from NATO as it already has its own national missile defense system that could counter threats from Iran or other possible enemies.The proposed missile defense system, is much cheaper but also less capable than a dedicated anti-missile system proposed by the Bush administration, which caused a deep rift with Russia. Russia opposed the stationing of powerful radars and anti-missile batteries near its western borders. • 'Mossad behind Iranian military base blast'.France's Le Figaro claims recent explosion at secure military base was part of Mossad's efforts to derail Tehran's nuclear ambitions. According to Le Figaro the blast was the latest in the Mossad's effort to thwart Iran's nuclear efforts. The paper also links it to other incidents, such as the recent cyber attack which paralyzed Iranian computers, technical sabotage, and various claimed scientist abductions.The French newspaper said the blast proved to be a serious blow to Iran's ability to defend its sensitive security installations, further weakening its ability to defend its nuclear facilities in case of an attack.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

• Row over war veterans facing deportation from the country they risked their lives to defend.Rohan Coombs joined the U.S. Marine Corps and risked his life for his country in Iraq - watching his friends die in combat.But, after returning from duty and falling foul of the law, the 43-year-old war veteran has been told that the U.S. is not his country, and he sits locked up in an immigration detention centre facing deportation.Jamaican-born Coombs, 43, immigrated to America legally as a child with his family.He signed up to serve his adopted nation for six years - first in Japan and the Philippines, then in the Persian Gulf during the first war with Iraq.Up to 8,000 non-citizens enlist in the U.S. Armed Forces every year and serve alongside American troops.As of May 2010, there were 16,966 non-citizens on active duty. The military does not allow illegal immigrants to enlist.Coombs said: 'If I had died, they would have made me a citizen, given me a military funeral, and given the flag to my mother. Then on Oct. 22, there was an outrageous story that Executive Director Jan Czarnik of the League of Women Voters was lambasting the pledge controversy as a stunt set up by GOP candidate Joe Walsh and an example of “phony patriotism.”So the LWV thinks reciting the Pledge of Allegiance is “phony patriotism,” eh?Disgusting!Now Mr. Dunetz informs us that the anti-pledge moderator, Mz Tate-Bradish, was once involved in Obama’s campaign and Exec. Dir. Czarnik once worked for ACORN’s Project Vote effort. • Six killed by bomb at Sufi shrine in Pakistan's Punjab.Police suspect the device was detonated by remote control.Six people have been killed in a bomb outside a famous Sufi shrine in Pakistan's Punjab province.Two young men left the device in a milk churn on a motorbike near the gate of the shrine of Baba Farid, a 12th century Sufi saint, in Pakpattan.The bomb exploded minutes later killing at least one woman and leaving 15 other people wounded, some critically.It is the latest attack on Sufis, who follow a mystical strand of Islam, but are deemed heretical by extremists.A prominent Sufi scholar, Mufti Muneebur Rehman, accused the government of not doing enough to protect his community."Our rulers are too busy serving foreign masters and have not prioritised protecting the people and sacred places from terrorists," Mr Rehman told reporters.Read and see the full story here.Click here for comments.

• U.N. to Vote on 'Religious Defamation' Resolution.Christian Web News - For the sixth year in a row, the U.N. General Assembly will vote in December on a resolution presented by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) that calls on governments to act against “religious defamation.” Similar resolutions have been passed every year since 1999 by the U.N.’s main human rights body. However, in both the UNGA and the Geneva-based Human Rights Council, the resolutions have drawn declining support in recent years.Although the OIC resolutions profess to cover all religions, only Islam and Muslims are cited by name. Last year’s text expressed concern that “Islam is frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism” and referred also to the “ethnic and religious profiling of Muslim minorities.”While the resolutions themselves are non-binding, they open the door for the OIC's attempts to amend the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, which is legally binding.“It’s dangerous and alarming that a U.N. resolution provides legitimacy to national blasphemy laws that are used to persecute Christians and other minority faith groups,” said the group’s advocacy director, Lindsay Vessey.“We as Christians need to speak out against it and do all in our power to stop its passage.
