• Vindication for BP? Inquiry finds U.S. oil giant Halliburton may be at fault over Gulf rig disaster.American oil giant Halliburton knew weeks before the Deepwater Horizon explosion that the cement mixture it used to seal the BP-owned well was unstable, it was claimed last night.It appears to confirm the defence by BP bosses that the faulty cement was a primary cause of the blow-out that killed 11 rig workers and caused the biggest oil spill in U.S. history.Three tests showed the cement was flawed, but Halliburton went ahead with the job anyway, the presidential commission investigating the disaster revealed. It is the first official finding of responsibility.BP has been widely vilified in America over the ­disaster, with President Obama repeatedly calling the company to task for shirking its responsibility in the Gulf of Mexico.Halliburton has kept a low ­profile, consistently denying its poor workmanship was to blame and insisting it was BP’s overall responsibility as owner of the off-shore drilling operation.Texas-based Halliburton, the world’s third largest oil field services company and one of the nation’s largest defence contractors, was once led by former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney.A company spokesman said it was reviewing the commission statement last night.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

• Ind. parents told to drop disabled kids at shelters. State budget cuts have left families with few affordable care options. Indiana's budget crunch has become so severe that some state workers have suggested leaving severely disabled people at homeless shelters if they can't be cared for at home, parents and advocates said. They said workers at Indiana's Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services have told parents that's one option they have when families can no longer care for children at home and haven't received Medicaid waivers that pay for services that support disabled people living independently."It is something we are hearing from all over the state, that families are being told this is an alternative for them," Dodson said. "A homeless shelter would never be able to serve these people."State lawmakers said they also have received reports from several people who were told they could always abandon their adult children at homeless shelters.Jim Dalton, Damar's chief operating officer, said he could not comment directly on any specific case but his nonprofit would never leave a client at a homeless shelter — even though it is caring for some for free after they got too old for school-funded services and haven't yet been granted Medicaid waivers."We're talking about youth that absolutely require services, and no one is willing to fund them anymore," Dalton said.Hmmm...Change you can see?Read the full scandal here.Click here for comments.

• Human Rights Watch: Obama Directive “Essentially Nullifies” Child Soldiers Law.Foreign Policy’s intrepid reporter Josh Rogin first posted last night on a White House memo in which President Obama exempted four governments from the Child Soldiers Prevention Act, a 2008 bill that bars US military cooperation with countries that recruit child soldiers. • Behind the Scenes Obama Continues Pushing UN Gun Control Treaty.Voters can stop this global tyranny by electing an Obama-proof Congress.In late September, several dozen UN representatives met at the University of Massachusetts in Boston to further discuss their plans for global gun control.While our President may have a history of being absent for important events --missing over 300 votes while in the U.S. Senate, dissing important dignitaries who visit our country, etc. - he was sure to have his administration represented at this meeting.The final report for the Boston Symposium on the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) is posted online and states that:“In the end, we seek to achieve an ATT that will establish the highest possible common international standards for the import, export and transfer of conventional arms, including small arms and light weapons, in order to contribute effectively towards peace and stability. This Symposium has brought us one step closer to achieving that goal.”So, they are one step closer to their goal. • Alleged Metro Plotter Was Married to a "Hip Muslim Mom".The wife of Farooque Ahmed, the 34-year-old American citizen of Pakistani descent accused today of plotting to set off bombs on Washington, D.C., Metro trains, was involved in a decidedly non-jihadi-sounding social group called "Hip Muslim Moms."Ahmed's wife Sahar Mirza-Ahmed is a "co-organizer" of a Northern Virginia group called "Hip Muslim Moms," a gathering of "today's mom's nurturing tomorrow's ummah," according to it's web site. (If jihad is hip now, Brooklyn is doomed.) Mirza-Ahmed is from Birmingham.According to the Post, Mirza-Ahmed covered herself in a "full hijab," and Ahmed wore a beard. As is the custom among would-be terrorists, they "kept to themselves and were quiet neighbors." Mounties Told ‘Stop Palling Around With Sharia Freaks!’The Vancouver Sun reports that Minister Vic Toews has slapped down the PC RCMP from pursuing its moronic plan to join hands with the ultra-Islamist Canadian Islamic Congress.He has instructed the wayward Mounties to “cease any participation” in a conference to be held Thursday in downtown Ottawa, organized by the mysterious “Group of Four,” where one main speaker is to be the notorious Imam Delic.“Canada’s national police force must have no involvement in any event organized by those who promote extremism and hatred,” the Public Safety Minister said yesterday. “As soon as I learned about this event, I asked the RCMP to explain their involvement and I have asked them to immediately cease any participation.”Manoussi’s Green Party online profile for the 2007 provincial election in Ontario says he is “secretary general” of the “Iranian Scholars Association of Canada” — which appears to exist only in Manoussi’s imagination. • Israeli-caused instability makes its way to Turkey's security document.Turkey has for the first time referred to Israel's actions in the Middle East as a threat to Turkey. • Poll: Most Want Obama Fired In 2012.Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, rapped by the White House for pledging to make Barack Obama a one-term president, seems to have the support of a majority of Americans. A new poll provided to Whispers says that 56 percent of likely voters want the president fired.Other highlights in Schoen's poll presentation:

• Teenage bully caught on tape tormenting Catholic nun teacher as classmates cheer him on.A teenage schoolboy has been charged with assault after he was captured on a YouTube video bullying a substitute teacher who is also a nun.Vincent Macias, 16, is seen menacing Sister Carmen Tirres as he he cheered on by classmates at a high school in El Paso, Texas.He towers over her, bunching his hands into a fist and then corners her as she tries to get away.The mobile phone recording then shows him lifting a chair in the air and clenching his fists before grabbing a salt shaker and hurling salt over the cowering woman.During the whole sordid episode, the teenager’s classmates are jeering and shouting ‘estoy va pa YouTube’ – ‘this is going on YouTube.’Police have now charged the boy with assault by contact for throwing the salt.‘It angers you because the lady seems defenceless.
