- U.N. panel cuts gay reference from violence measure.Arab and African nations succeeded Tuesday in getting a U.N. General Assembly panel to delete from a resolution condemning unjustified executions a specific reference to killings due to sexual orientation.Western delegations expressed disappointment in the human rights committee's vote to remove the reference to slayings due to sexual orientation from the resolution on extrajudicial, summary and arbitrary executions."The subject of this amendment -- the need for prompt and thorough investigations of all killing, including those committed for ... sexual orientation -- exists in this resolution simply because it is a continuing cause for concern," a British statement to the committee said."It's a step backwards and it's extremely disappointing that some countries felt the need to remove the reference to sexual orientation, when sexual orientation is the very reason why so many people around the world have been subjected to violence," said Philippe Bolopion of Human Rights Watch.Hmmmm...the United Islamic Nations are emerging and Human Rights are being raped, time to leave the U.N. and count your losses.Read the full

- The Islamic insurgency in Dagestan.A senior Russian official has told the BBC that Islamic terrorists with links to Al Qaeda are trying to "tear the whole of the North Caucasus away from Russia".The President of Dagestan, Russia's most restless republic, said that insurgents wanted to turn the whole region into an Islamic state. In recent months Dagestan - which neighbours Chechnya - has become the epicentre of violence in the Caucasus with almost daily shootings, bombings and kidnapping.Islam the religion of peace.Read the full story here.
- HT:RightsideNews.Napolitano: The Ball’s in My Court Now.After the 9/11 attacks, when 19 Muslim terrorists — 15 from Saudi Arabia, two from the United Arab Emirates and one each from Egypt and Lebanon, 14 with “al” in their names — took over commercial aircraft with box-cutters, the government banned sharp objects from planes.Airport security began confiscating little old ladies’ knitting needles and breaking the mouse-sized nail files off of passengers’ nail clippers. Surprisingly, no decrease in the number of hijacking attempts by little old ladies and manicurists was noted.Only because the terrorists are Muslims do we pretend not to notice who keeps trying to blow up our planes. It would be harder to find Swedes or Irish boarding commercial airliners in the U.S. than Muslims. If the government did nothing more than have a five-minute conversation with the one passenger per flight born outside the U.S., you’d need 90 percent fewer Transportation Security Administration agents and airlines would be far safer than they are now.Instead, Napolitano just keeps ordering more invasive searches of all passengers, without exception — except members of Congress and government officials, who get VIP treatment, so they never know what she’s doing to the rest of us.Two weeks ago, Napolitano ordered TSA agents to start groping women’s breasts and all passengers’ genitalia — children, nuns and rape victims, everyone except government officials and members of Congress. (Which is weird because Dennis Kucinich would like it.)Please have your genitalia out and ready to be fondled when you approach the security checkpoint.”It is becoming increasingly obvious that we need to keep the government as far away from airport security as possible, and not only because Janet Napolitano did her graduate work in North Korea.Hmmm.....then one day you wake up and realise you're living in a giant Gulag?Read the full story here.
- Transmissions from a Lone Star: Whatever happened to the Fort Hood shooter? After living here for four years, American culture still seems LOUD. Cable TV abounds with angry heads yelling at each other, while radio and the Internet are flooded with toxic invective. Waiting at the traffic lights I am frequently instructed by bumper stickers what position I ought to take on abortion; whether to spay and neuter my cat; and who I should have voted for six years ago. This openness can be thrilling or exhausting. It’s never boring. There are, however, significant taboos. A public figure can end his career instantly if he uses the wrong language when discussing race. Immigration is another issue it is best to tread lightly around. And then there is radical Islam: you know, men with bombs in their skivvies, or beardy types planting bombs on Times Square. Nothing is a buzz-kill for the American media like this stuff. Sure, they enjoy the thrill of the scare. But nobody wants to talk about the ideas that inspire the bombs from terror of inadvertently saying something offensive about Islam.Recently a British friend asked me about the “alleged” Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist who opened fire on a military base in Texas a year ago, killing 13 and wounding many others. “What’s going on with him?” he asked.“I don’t know,” I replied, which immediately struck me as bizarre. It was the worst massacre ever carried out on a U.S. military base, and the first act of terror performed on American soil by a native jihad. Up until this point, American commentators had been rather smug about the possibility of homegrown Islamist terror. That’s a European problem, they said. American Muslims are better integrated. Yet Hasan was born, raised and educated in the United States. He had business cards that read “Soldier of Allah” - a nice, professional touch. He was in short, an American success story - right up to point when he started killing Americans.Read the full

- HT:TheJawaReport.WashTimes: Homeland Security adviser Mohamed Elibiary behind TSA hijab exemption?Note to terrorists: Next time, wear a hijab.DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano appointed Mohamed Elibiary to her Homeland Security Advisory Council last month. The Department of Homeland Security reportedly is giving special exemptions to their "enhanced pat-down" policy to Muslim women wearing the hijab or other form-concealing garments.Exemptions for Muslim women wearing traditional garb may be the brainchild of Mohamed Elibiary, who recently was made a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council. Mr. Elibiary is president and chief executive officer of the Texas-based Freedom and Justice Foundation and a self-styled "de-radicalization expert" whose star has risen during the Obama presidency. He previously was appointed to Homeland Security's Countering Violent Extremism Working Group and has testified before Congress as an expert on Muslim radicalism - a topic he seems to know well.In December 2004, Mr. Elibiary spoke at a conference honoring the life and works of the "great Islamic visionary," Iran's Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. In 2008, Mr. Elibiary denounced the conviction of Hamas-connected members of the Holy Land Foundation for material support of terrorism. Most alarmingly, Mr. Elibiary is an admirer of the work of Sayyid Qutb, the intellectual and spiritual godfather of modern jihadism. Mr. Elibiary argues that Qutb is greatly misunderstood. "Many Westerners who've read Qutb's and many others' work," Mr. Elibiary wrote, "see the potential for a strong spiritual rebirth that's truly ecumenical allowing all faiths practiced in America to enrich us and motivate us to serve God better by serving our fellow man more."No one who has read Qutb's work can mistake it for anything but an all-out assault on the American way of life and a call for a global Islamic takeover. The 9/11 Commission noted Qutb's role as an inspiration to al Qaeda and concluded that, "No middle ground exists in what Qutb conceived as a struggle between God and Satan. All Muslims - as he defined them - therefore must take up arms in this fight. Any Muslim who rejects his ideas is just one more nonbeliever worthy of destruction." Qutb - who lived in the United States as a student in the late 1940s - developed a comprehensive anti-American ideology that's widely cited as the basis for the contemporary violent Islamic extremism with which America is at war.Qutb promoted violent, predatory Islamic internationalism with a clear voice. If Mr. Elibiary is one of his disciples, he has no business being anywhere in government, let alone as an adviser at the uppermost reaches of an agency that purports to protect the homeland.Hmmm....it's becoming obvious that America is being taken over by the enemy within, congress must act now before it's too late.Read the full story here.

- Report: U.S. Sends Battle Tanks to Afghanistan. In a move signaling a major escalation in the offensive against the Taliban, the U.S. military reportedly is deploying heavily armored battle tanks to Afghanistan for the first time in the nine-year war.The company of M1 Abrams tanks, each weighing in at 68 tons and propelled by jet engine, are equipped with 120mm guns that can destroy a house from more than a mile away, The Washington Post reported Friday, citing unnamed U.S. officials."The tanks bring awe, shock and firepower," an officer familiar with the tanks told the Post. "It's pretty significant. The tanks will initially be used by Marines engaged in an intense firefight with Taliban cells in the country's southwest province of Helmand, the newspaper said, giving American ground forces the power to target insurgents with a longer range and more lethal punch than from any other U.S. military vehicle."We've taken the gloves off, and it has had huge impact," one senior official told the paper.Read the full story here.
- UN 'deeply concerned' about Iran rights.General Assembly's human rights committee votes 80-44 to underscore its worries about Islamic Republic's use of flogging, stoning and amputations as punishment. The United Nations General Assembly's human rights committee expressed "deep concern" Thursday about Iran's use of flogging, stoning and amputations as punishment in an annual review of the rights situation in several countries worldwide. The committee voted 80-44 with 57 abstentions to underscore its worries about continued rights violations in Iran. It was a more resounding vote than last year, when the committee voted 74-48 on a similar resolution, with 59 members abstaining. In a statement issued from her headquarters outside Paris, Rajavi nevertheless called the vote "an indication of a global consensus against the religious fascism ruling Iran." She called on countries to suppress trade and relations with Iran until its human rights situation improves. The resolution, the 23rd such condemnation of Iran since 1985, "leaves no doubt that the world remains deeply concerned with Iran's continued human rights violations," said Bani Dugal, representative of the Baha'i International Community.Hmmmm....now guess who were the 57 abstaining and who were the 44 pro Iran votes, anyone has a clue about their religion?Read the full story here.
- HT:DougRoss.Remember Obama's 'Civilian National Security Force'? Soros Puppet Podesta Pitches Use of Armed Force to 'Advance Progressive Change'.John Podesta, one of Barack Obama's key 2008 campaign advisers, has laid the "D" card on the table. No, not "depression". We've already got that.I'm talking about a de facto "dictatorship". Bypassing the will of the people -- as if that hasn't happened enough in the last two years -- through a set of unconstitutional Czars and the administrative state. And armed force, if necessary, according to Podesta.Oh, Doug -- that's so controversial.Fine. If it's not a dictatorship, please tell me what you would call the form of government that Podesta calls for?Because it's certainly not a representative republic nor Constitutional in any way.The U.S. Constitution and the laws of our nation grant the president significant authority to make and implement policy... The ability of President Obama to accomplish important change through these powers [including executive orders and armed forces] should not be underestimated [in] continuing to make progress. In Barack Obama’s July 2, 2008 speech calling America to national service, Obama proposed “a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as our military... This has prompted some in the blogosphere to raise the specter of a huge new domestic paramilitary organization...[Obama said] "We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."Curiously, the official transcript of the speech omitted those last two sentences. After the last two years, can there be any real doubt as to what Obama meant? The Left used to enjoy calling Bush a fascist, but the closest thing we've ever had to a dictator -- from the iconography to the vicious language to the unconstitutional power-grabs -- is Barack Obama.Hmmmm....The President who calls American patriots ennemies.Read the full story here.
- HT:TheAmericanDream.Senator Rockefeller To TSA Chief John Pistole: “I Think You’re Doing A Terrific Job”.The backlash against new TSA airport screening procedures has reached a deafening crescendo, and so you would think that the politicians in Washington D.C. would be getting the message. But so far, most of them seem to be just as supportive of the TSA as ever. For example, what did the chairman of the Senate committee overseeing air travel, Jay Rockefeller, have to say to TSA chief John Pistole during a Senate hearing on these new security procedures the other day? "I Think You're Doing A Terrific Job." Yes, you read that correctly. Senator Rockefeller had nothing but praise for Pistole and the new screening procedures. Apparently Rockefeller thinks that TSA officials feeling up the genitals of U.S. air travelers with the fronts of their hands is a wonderful thing. It is even being reported that in some instances TSA officials are actually reaching down the pants of men and up the skirts of women during these enhanced pat-downs. Not only is this totally criminal, but considering the fact that TSA officials do this countless times without changing their gloves it is also a serious health hazard. But most of our "leaders" in Washington D.C. continue to insist that we should stop protesting because this is all being done "for our own good".But should we expect anything less from elitists such as Rockefeller? This is the same guy who is publicly talking about how wonderful it would be if the FCC would just go in and shut down Fox News and MSNBC. He also has publicly expressed his belief that we would probably be "better off" if the Internet had never been invented. Obviously Rockefeller is not a big fan of freedom of expression. But it is not just Rockefeller that is applauding these new TSA security procedures.Read the full story here.
- Indonesia maid 'killed in Saudi Arabia'.Indonesia has demanded an inquiry into reports that a maid working in Saudi Arabia was killed by her employers and her body dumped in a bin. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said a team had been sent to the Saudi town of Abha to investigate reports of the murder of 36-year-old Kikim Komalasari. It comes as officials arrived in Saudi to follow up claims of torture against a second Indonesian maid.Sumiati Binti Salan Mustapa is recovering in hospital in Medina. Her injuries include gashes to her face and cuts to her lips, allegedly inflicted by her employers using scissors. She was also burned with an iron, officials say.Indonesia's president has demanded justice for the "extraordinary torture".Indonesian media reported on Thursday that the Saudi Arabian government had arrested the female employer of Sumiati, and apologised for her treatment. The Saudi Labour Ministry has in the past acknowledged some problems, but the government also says foreign workers' rights are protected under Islamic law.Hmmm......welcome to A.D.620 ...lets see how that works out?Read the full

- Nineteen is the Number to Watch as UN Committee Prepares to Vote on Religious ‘Defamation’.As a U.N. General Assembly committee prepares to vote on a controversial religious “defamation” resolution – possibly as early as Friday – critics will be keen to see how successful their lobbying against the Islamic-led initiative has been.Nineteen will be the number to better. That was the margin of difference between countries voting for and against the resolution in 2009. The result then was 80-61 in favor of the resolution, with 42 abstentions.Any margin smaller than 19 this year will be welcome by opponents, although an outright defeat of the measure is the ultimate goal. The OIC, a bloc of 56 countries, argues that Islam and its teachings, symbols and prophetic figures are being denigrated by non-Muslims as a result of ignorance, prejudice or fear, especially over the period since 9/11.In a recent report the democracy watchdog Freedom House said that blasphemy laws are “responsible for broad violations of human rights, particularly when applied in weak democracies and authoritarian systems.”Read the full story here.

- HT:Imra.Iranian guidance systems gives Hizbullah and Syria aerial supremacy without even having aircraft.Israeli general: Iran has equipped proxy's rockets with guidance systems.JERUSALEM — Iran has significantly enhanced its rocket arsenal.Officials and analysts said Iran and its allies in the Middle East have converted their unguided rockets into guided weapons. They said the conversion has transformed the rocket arsenals of Hamas, Hizbullah, Iran and Syria from what was termed a terror threat to a military threat."We are facing a significant leap in the projectile capability," Brig. Gen. Doron Gavish, chief of the Air Defense Command, said."The enemy has achieved aerial supremacy without even having aircraft," Uzi Rubin, former head of the Israel Missile Defense Organization, said.Rubin, regarded as a leading consultant on ballistic missiles, cited Iran's new rockets, which have been exported to Hizbullah and Syria. He said Iran's Fateh-110 rocket, with an enhanced range of 300 kilometers, has become fully-guided."There is guidance from launch, maybe throughout the entire flight," Rubin said.As a result, officials and analysts said, Iran's new rockets could have a circle error of probability of up to 200 meters at a range of 90 kilometers. They said this would enable Hizbullah and Syria to strike Israeli critical facilities with dozens rather than hundreds of rockets.Rubin said Hizbullah and Syria have accumulated 13,000 missiles and rockets that could hit targets from Israel's northern border to the southern city of Beersheba. Of those weapons, he said, 1,500 warheads could strike the Tel Aviv area. Hamas has also acquired rockets with a range to hit Tel Aviv."This is a revolution," Rubin said.Officials said the new Iranian capability would force Israel to revise its missile defense doctrine. They said Israel was expected to deploy its multi-layered system by 2015."The new missile threat requires a revision of doctrine, and IMDO and the defense industries are working on this," Capt. Guy Aviram, a senior official in IMDO, said.Read the full story here.
- And now for something completely different!Attack of the rats !The local farmers call it a flood; an inundation that happens every 50 years.Others believe it to be an act of God, an inevitability. It isn't water flooding the precious farmland in north-eastern India, but rats. A once in a generation, gigantic plague of rats, that ruins crops and leaves people starving. A rat army so big, so mythical, that until now some scientists did not believe it was real. This explosion in the rodent population, leading to swarms of hungry pests, is caused by a glut in the food supply, namely bamboo seeds, researchers have confirmed. And it is a perfect example of how the simple relationship between two apparently innocuous species, a tall grass and a tiny rodent, can turn the ecology of a whole region upside down: wiping out wildlife, destroying agriculture and leaving people destitute. Worse, scientists suspect that climate change may create even bigger rat armies in the future.Read the full story here.
