• HT:BigGoverment.Pigford II Settlement Partially Funded by Cuts to Children Nutrition.Congress is rushing through its lame duck session to finally appropriate funds to pay out claims from the Pigford II settlement. The settlement is meant to clear up claims from black farmers who claim discrimination from USDA and also missed out on the first settlement.The legislation sets aside $1.5 billion to pay these claims. The legislation also makes cuts in other federal programs to “pay for” the new spending. Among the cuts are $500 million for nutrition programs for women, infants and children.Well.The left likes to couch everything they do as for “the children” and the disadvantaged. Okay, so, why cut funds from child nutrition to pay a second round of claims for a lawsuit surrounded by allegations of fraud?It is simple, really. The left is really about pay-offs to interest groups. If a child nutrition program loses funds, well, that’s the price to pay to move money around to a more favored group.Source.Obama: Pigford II Settlement For African-American Farmers Is A 'Priority'.Much of the cause for concern is the fact that there have been vastly more claims of discrimination than there are even black farmers in America. Sworn testimony before the House Judiciary Committee by the president of the National Black Farmers Association, John Boyd, put the number of black farmers in America at 18,000.To date, more than 94,000 individuals have filed discrimination claims.Source.Last year, 2008  Congress passed a proposal sponsored by then-Sen. Obama and others to give more farmers a chance at a settlement.Source. Hmmm.....so Michelle go's after the foodstamps to pay for her Children  Nutrion program ,while Barry go's after the children nutrian funds to pay the black farmers....Lord i'm getting dizzy here.In any event, it worked out fine for Ms. Sherrod. Obama appointed her to be the USDA's Director for Rural Development for the state of Georgia on July 25, 2009.Only days earlier, she learned that New Communities, a group she founded with her husband and other families (see below) has won a thirteen million dollar settlement in the minority farmers law suit Pigford vs Vilsack. She's even getting $150,000.00 personally for pain and suffering. In fact, Ms. Sherrod and her organization are getting the biggest settlement of any other claimant.And the Obama Administration played a key role in ensuring fast government funding for the Pigford settlements.Am i missing something here?It just doesn't feel "Kosher" to me. Obama offered a period from June, after Iran's domestic elections, to year's end "to see serious movement on the part of Iranians.""We're not going to have talks forever," Obama said...Just half of forever.Meanwhile, as Obama implies, Netanyahu could take significant steps toward the Palestinians--on settlements in particular. That would considerably aid Obama's outreach to Iran and the Arab world.But -- as the Wikileaks disclosures make clear -- Israeli concessions have (and had) nothing at all to do with stopping Iran. Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries wanted Iran crushed -- as King Abdullah put it, "cut off the head of the snake" -- period.Let me repeat: Obama knew all along that Israeli concessions had nothing to do with stopping Iran's march to nuclear weapons. • Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah 'block-books entire wing of hospital to recover from back surgery'.King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has become mired in controversy for the second time in two days after it today emerged he has taken over the entire wing of a hospital to recover from back surgery.The 86-year-old monarch had block-booked the VIP floor of New York Presbyterian Hospital, commandeering the facility's top treatment and recovery rooms, ahead of an operation to repair a slipped disc.'The king has taken the entire luxury treatment wing and booked out all the rooms, even though they are empty and he doesn't need them, to protect his privacy,' a relative of one patient told the New York Post.'Patients are grumbling that they have been moved out to other areas of the hospital, and that despite there being a number of unused VIP treatment rooms, they can't be moved into them because they are all reserved for the king of Saudi Arabia.'Having chartered three flights to JFK Airport, he arrived with a large entourage, including a security team and a film crew, and drove into New York in a 40-vehicle convoy including 20 vehicles for luggage alone.Hmmm.....lets hope Michelle brought him a healthy fruit basket?Read the full story here.

American foreign policy turned delusional when Barack Obama took office, and the latest batch of leaks suggest that the main source of the delusion is sitting in the Oval Office. The initial reports suggest that the US State Department has massive evidence that Obama's approach - "engaging" Iran and coddling Pakistan - has failed catastrophically. The crisis in diplomatic relations heralded by the press headlines is not so much a diplomatic problem - America's friends and allies in Western and Central Asia have been shouting themselves hoarse for two years - but a crisis of American credibility. Not one Muslim government official so much as mentioned the issues that have occupied the bulk of Washington's attention during the past year, for example, Israeli settlements. The Saudis, to be sure, would prefer the elimination of all Israeli settlements; for that matter, they would prefer the eventual elimination of the state of Israel. In one conversation with a senior White House official, Saudi King Abdullah stated categorically that Iran, not Palestine, was his main concern; while a solution to the Arab/Israeli conflict would be a great achievement, Iran would find other ways to cause trouble. "Iran's goal is to cause problems," Abdullah added. "There is no doubt something unstable about them." There never has been a shred of evidence that an Israeli-Palestinian agreement would help America contain Iran's nuclear threat. The deafening silence over this issue in the diplomatic cables is the strongest refutation of this premise to date. Never underestimate the power of nostalgia. With a Muslim father and stepfather, and an anthropologist mother whose life's work defended Muslim traditional society against globalization, Obama harbors an overpowering sympathy for the Muslim world. He is not a Muslim, although as a young child he was educated as a Muslim in Indonesian schools. His vision of outreach to the Muslim world, the most visible and impassioned feature of his foreign policy, draws on deep wells of emotion.The cables, in sum, reveal an American administration that refuses to look at the facts on the ground, even when friendly governments rub the noses of American diplomats into them. There appears to be a common thread of inconsistency woven into the fabric of what we are to accept as the truth, which could explain the cause and effect relationship behind the politicization of terror.The most blatant and commonly referenced controversy surrounding the alleged attempted bombing of flight 253 broadcast by the media has been the financial fortune made by former DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff, founder of the Chertoff Group, who has benefitted from the sale of the Rapiscan units to the federal government. Chertoff is not the only financial benefactor as I have previously pointed out in this article published on 14 November, nor does financial gain appear to be the sole factor in the deployment and use of the scanners.It goes much deeper. And the deeper the trail, the darker it gets, both metaphorically and in reality.Indeed, there is something very odd and disconcerting when the layers of this incident are pulled back, court documents are examined, and witness accounts are considered. • Egyptians Riot, Burn Cars, Claiming Vote Fraud.Protesters set fire to cars, tires and two polling stations, clashing with police firing tear gas in riots that erupted around Egypt on Monday over allegations the ruling party carried out widespread fraud to sweep parliamentary elections.The country's most powerful opposition movement, the Islamic fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood, acknowledged that its lawmakers may be all but completely swept out of parliament by what it and other called rampant rigging.That's a significant blow to the group, which held 88 seats, a fifth of the outgoing parliament, and it is widely believed that it was the government goal to drive out its only real rival's lawmakers. • Foreigners alarmed by Swiss expulsion vote.Swiss voters’ decision to adopt tough new regulations on the deportation of non-Swiss convicted of serious crimes has provoked widespread concern among foreigners.On Sunday some 53 per cent of voters backed a rightwing initiative for the automatic expulsion of non-Swiss offenders convicted of crimes ranging from murder to breaking and entry and social security fraud.By accepting the initiative the Swiss people have sent a clear signal that foreigners are basically undesirable and suspicious, the Second@s Plus organisation, which represents second- and third-generation foreigners, said in a statement.“This is another sign that foreigners are tolerated but not respected,” Second@s Vice-president Ivica Petrusic told swissinfo.ch.The People’s Party says immigrants to Switzerland are disproportionately responsible for crime but the figures are contested.Hmmm....this has been done in Belgium for a while after having finished their criminal sentence they are send back to their country.Read the full story here.

• Wisconsin Gunman Shoots Himself After Standoff.A student armed with a handgun held 23 other students and a teacher hostage for several hours on Monday before shooting himself at a high school in Marinette, Wis., which borders the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the authorities said. All of the hostages were released unharmed after about five hours. The student, 15, shot himself after police officers entered the room, Chief Jeff Skorik of the Marinette police said. He was taken to a hospital, and his condition was not immediately known. The officers went in after hearing gunshots, Chief Skorik said.Read the full story here.

• Last week, MPAC (Muslim public affairs council)completed a quarterly training for Transportation Security Officers (TSO) with about 2,200 officers receiving training on cultural awareness about Islam and Muslims.The training sessions allowed trainers to discuss the common practice of Muslims praying in various areas of the airport, adding that they do this because LAX does not have a designated prayer area as other airports do.The officers were extremely receptive and interested in the information presented. • Kuwait MPs want one-year jail term for women in swimsuits.Five Islamist MPs in the Gulf state of Kuwait on Monday proposed a one-year prison term and $3,500 fine for women who wear swimsuits at the beach.The lawmakers, representing various Islamist groups in parliament, also said in a proposal to amend Kuwait's penal code that the same penalty should apply to women who reveal their upper chest or take part in "indecent behaviour."The proposal, a copy of which was received by AFP, calls for a ban on women wearing swimsuits at beaches, islands and swimming pools. It does not specify if it covers private beaches run by hotels and resorts.The amendment would need to be approved by parliamentary panels, by parliament itself and also signed by the conservative Muslim state's ruling emir to become law.The MPs complained of a spread of "indecent" practises and warned that coastguards were unable to act against women in indecent costume or for other violations of public order because of a lack of clear legislation.However, liberal woman MP Aseel al-Awadhi condemned the proposal as contrary to the constitution and "regrettable," asking why it failed to also make reference to men.Kuwait, unlike neighbouring Saudi Arabia where women have to be covered, does not impose any restriction on women's dress in public places.Hmmmm....welcome to the "Dark Ages"? Migrants wishing to marry a UK resident will have to pass a basic English test before they are allowed a marriage visa.The British government has ruled that migrants wishing to marry a Briton or other UK resident will have to pass a basic English test before they are allowed a marriage visa.From Monday, they will have to prove they can speak the language as well as a native-born six year old before the visa will be granted.Damian Green, Britian's immigration minister, said: "Being able to speak English should be a pre-requisite for anyone who wants to settle in the UK - that is why from the end of November we are making it compulsory for migrant spouses and partners to demonstrate they can speak English before we grant them a marriage visa.Evidence will need to be provided with applications that an English test in speaking and listening has been passed.The level of knowledge required by the UK Border Agency should take 40 to 50 hours of tuition.A loophole means that the new law will discriminate against UK citizens because EU laws state that other Europeans living in Britain can bring in a foreign partner from overseas without them having to pass the test.Read the fll story here.

U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange granted a temporary restraining order blocking the bill. Critics, such as the culturally aware Clarence Page, say that the OK measure is "a solution in search of a problem." Sharia law is not a threat. Page's evidence: There are only 15,000 Muslims in Oklahoma. It doesn't get much more convincing than that. The deep thinkers at OpenLeft.com are equally informed: As Paul Rosenberg emphatically says, "there is zero evidence of sharia law having any influence on American law." Rosenberg is factually wrong. On the crucial factual matter of whether Sharia has been applied in our courts, he is unaware of what has occurred.Sharia law has been applied in U.S. courts. There are at least seventeen instances of Sharia law being applied in eleven states, as Daniel Pipes has noted. Most notably, a NJ court held that a man did not commit rape because according to his belief in Sharia law, a man cannot rape his wife, since the wife serves him. So Sharia law was applied to the mental state element of the crime of rape. An American court actually adopted this barbaric reasoning.[The defendant] was operating under his belief that it is, as the husband, his desire to have sex when and whether he wanted to, was something that was consistent with his practices and it was something that was not prohibited.The resulting ruling was that a man was held not responsible for rape, where he would have been convicted without Sharia.Sharia defenders should know that Islam is named specifically because Muslims single themselves out. Their leadership is uniquely comfortable forcing their religious practices and views onto other people. After a fitful two hundred years of protecting religious liberty in America, we have a sect seeking to impose its views in a way we haven't seen in a very long time. He is a lawyer specializing in litigation and risk analysis, especially as it relates to geo-strategic policy, national security, international business relations, securities law, disclosure and due diligence requirements for domestic and international concerns. • HT:Imra.Terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip have recently once again made use of phosphorus-containing 120-mm mortar shells.On November 19, a phosphorus-containing mortar shell was fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip. It was part of an unusual attack consisting of four rockets and seven mortar shells, which may have been fired in response to the killing of Islam Yassin, an Army of Islam operative who was planning to abduct Israelis in the Sinai Peninsula. The Israeli Foreign Minister instructed the Israeli ambassador to the UN to submit a complaint to the UN Secretary General and to the Security Council chairman (Israel's Foreign Ministry website, November 19, 2010).Read the full story here.

• HT:Iwilloptout.TSA Harassment In Phoenix: Breast Milk Video.It’s not really a pat-down story, but as presented this story makes the case for inconsistent implementation of TSA policy and suggests passive-aggressive wielding of power.On 1 February 2010, Stacey Armato missed her commuter flight (Phoenix to LAX) because of how she was treated by TSA agents. At the time, her son was seven months old; she was traveling with breast milk. The week before, she had filed a complaint because, she says, the Phoenix TSA agents did not know that breast milk could be exempt from x-ray scanning.From the TSA website:Mothers flying with, and now without, their child will be permitted to bring breast milk in quantities greater than three ounces as long as it is declared for inspection at the security checkpoint.Breast milk is in the same category as liquid medications.And about the special exemption?We normally X-ray medication and related supplies. • Leaked cables reveal close US interest in Turkish coup plans.Leaked cables from the US Embassy in Ankara among the 250,000 confidential cables obtained by the website WikiLeaks have revealed that the United States is closely following anti-democratic attempts against the government in Turkey. The cables from the US Embassy in Ankara brief the Washington administration about coup plans in Turkey as well as probes into these coup plans.“Reports of coup plots against Prime Minister [Recep Tayyip] Erdoğan’s Islamist-leaning government have been a staple of the Turkish media since 2007. Despite protests by Turkey’s top brass that there is no substance to the allegations, a growing percentage of the population believes that at least some elements within the military have been plotting to undermine or even overthrow the [Justice and Development Party] AKP-led government.Meanwhile, the classified documents also revealed that in a meeting with US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William Burns in August, Israeli Mossad Director Meir Dagan said he expects the Turkish military to meddle in politics.“It [Israel] looks at Turkey and sees Islamists gaining momentum there. This year’s mad Muslim bomber comes from Somalia. And they bring with them tidings of a new season. A season in which holiday shopping now comes with massacre plots mixed in with the radio jingles and cheer.If gift wrapping and church going are Christmas traditions, carrying out massacres during other people’s holiday celebrations is a Muslim tradition. In Israel, holidays are a time for extra special caution. The Passover massacre in which dozens of senior citizens attending a holiday meal were murdered, the Yom Kippur War in which Muslim armies invaded Israel on the holiest day of its year or the Purim bombing outside a Tel Aviv mall using a nail bomb, are just some of the obvious examples of Muslim religious tolerance at work.Read the full story here.

• OIC Secretary-General Warns of Western Plots against Islam.Secretary-General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said that the West has hatched plots to spread Islamophobia in a bid to block growing conversion to Islam, and demanded the Muslim nations to take collective action to defuse these plots.Speaking in a meeting with Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here in Tehran on Monday, Ihsanoglu cautioned that spreading "Islamophobia, insulting Islamic values and sparking and spreading hatred for Islam are high on the agenda of the West, and urged the entire Muslim states to take established, and institutionalized collective measures" to confront the western plots in this regard. He further elaborated on the OIC's activities and plans to counter Islamophobia, insult to Islamic values and resolve Muslim issues such as Palestine, and called Iran's supports and activities in these grounds as "highly crucial". The OIC chief also appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran for its continued supports for the OIC and its valuable role in different OIC plans and programs. He has a home in Westchester and votes there, where right now, there’s a recount going on in Republican Assemblyman Bob Castelli’s race against Democratic challenger Tom Roach. Soros’ ballot was among those Republicans objected to, saying it should not be counted, according to a source present during the count. Nomani argues the case for religious and racial profiling.For all those holiday travelers negotiating the Transportation Security Administration’s new cop-a-feel strategy, there is a difficult solution we need to consider: racial and religious profiling.As an American Muslim, I’ve come to recognize, sadly, that there is one common denominator defining those who’ve got their eyes trained on U.S. targets: MANY of them are Muslim—like the Somali-born teenager arrested Friday night for a reported plot to detonate a car bomb at a packed Christmas tree-lighting ceremony in downtown Portland, Oregon.We have to talk about the taboo topic of profiling because terrorism experts are increasingly recognizing that religious ideology makes terrorist organizations and terrorists more likely to commit heinous crimes against civilians, such as blowing an airliner out of the sky. Certainly, it’s not an easy or comfortable conversation but it’s one, I believe, we must have.This past week, as part of a debate series sponsored by the New York-based group Intelligence Squared, I argued that U.S. airports should use racial and religious profiling. (Taking the opposite stand was a “debating team” that included the former director of the Department of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff; Columbia University scholar of Pakistan, Hassan Abbas; and Debra Burlingame, a former flight attendant whose brother was a pilot of one of the planes hijacked on 9/11.)I realize that in recent years, profiling has become a dirty word, synonymous with prejudice, racism, and bigotry. But while I believe our risk assessment should not end with religion, race and ethnicity, I believe that it should include these important elements, as part of a “triage” strategy that my debate partner, former CIA case officer Robert Baer, says airports and airliners already do.Profiling doesn’t have to be about discrimination, persecution, or harassment. • Justices turn aside another challenge over Obama's citizenship.The Supreme Court has again cast aside an appeal that raised doubts about President Barack Obama's U.S. citizenship, a grass-roots legal issue that has gained little legal or political footing, but continues to persist in the courts.The justices without comment Monday rejected a challenge from Charles Kerchner Jr., a Pennsylvania man who sought a trial in federal court forcing the president to produce documents regarding his birth and citizenship.Kerchner's attorney, Mario Apuzzo, had argued in a petition with the Supreme Court that Obama did not fit the definition of a "natural-born citizen" required for the nation's highest office, as defined by Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution.That clause states, "No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."Kerchner, a retired military officer who describes himself on his website as a "genetic genealogy pioneer," argues the framers of the 1789 document intended a "natural-born" citizen to mean someone born in the U.S. to parents who were both American citizens.The high court and other courts had dismissed earlier, unrelated lawsuits from individuals questioning Obama's citizenship. State birth certificate records show he was born August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His mother is a native of Kansas; his father was born in Kenya, which at the time was a British colony."A person gains allegiance and loyalty and therefore attachment for a nation from either being born on the soil of the community defining that nation or from being born to parents who were also born on that same soil or who naturalized as though they were born on that soil," said Apuzzo. "It is only by combining at birth in the child both means to inherit these two sources of citizenship that the child by nature and therefore also by law is born with only one allegiance and loyalty to and consequently attachment for only the United States."He said it was "undisputed fact" Obama's father was a citizen of the British crown.The Obama administration did not file, and the high court did not demand, a formal government response to this latest legal claim. The high court will often insist the Justice Department weigh in with its views on a particular constitutional issue, or when it is being sued, and that is a sign the justices are seriously considering accepting the appeal.Obama and his staff produced copies of his birth certificate when he was running for president in 2008, and have previously dismissed questions over his citizenship.Hmmmm....no surprise there,the real documents are sealed away.Read the full story here.

• HT:Imra.NGO Monitor reveals Dutch government funding for Electronic Intifada.Electronic Intifada (EI), a website that publishes articles that compare Israelis to Nazis and promotes campaigns for anti-Israel BDS (boycotts, divestment and sanctions), has received funding indirectly from the Dutch government. The Interchurch Organization for Development Cooperation (ICCO), a Netherland-based NGO has supported EI since at least 2007, including a 3-year funding commitment. ICCO receives 95% of its budget from the Dutch government and the EU.In 2008, ICCO received €124 million in Dutch government funds, representing 90% of its €139 million budget. An additional €8.5 million (6.1%) came from the European Commission (Annual Report, p. 135). When NGO Monitor contacted ICCO regarding funding for EI, our researcher was directed to the coordinator of government funds, Mieke Zagt. Ms. Zagt did not return NGO Monitor’s phone calls or emails.As documented by NGO Monitor, EI plays a central role in the Durban strategy of political warfare against Israel, with frequent accusations of “apartheid,” “ethnic cleansing,” and “slow genocide.” Articles on the EI site justify violence against civilians, call Gaza a “concentration camp,” and label Palestinian participation in peace talks as “collaboration.” EI has an extensive section supporting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.
