  • Cleric issues death fatwa against Al Baradei.Mohammad Al Baradei, a potential challenger to Mubarak, had urged boycott of the recent legislative elections.Cairo: A Muslim cleric has issued a death fatwa against Egypt's pro-reform campaigner Mohammad Al Baradei allegedly for inciting sedition in the country."We in Egypt mostly embrace Islam, and anyone meditating statements made by Al Baradei will find out that they incite people to rebel against our Muslim ruler (President Hosni Mubarak)," added the fatwa attributed to Mahmoud Amer, a fundamentalist cleric in the Delta province of Al Beheira.Since his return to Egypt last February after ending his job as chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Al Baradei has been spearheading a high-profile campaign for wider constitutional reforms."So he (Al Baradei should announce repentance for what he said. If not, the ruler is permitted to imprison or kill him to stave off sedition," added Amer in his fatwa (a religious edict) posted on the website of the religious association the Supporter of the Mohammadian Suna in Beheira.Hmmmmm...Islam the religion of Peace.Read the full story here.

  • HT:AhmadiyyaTimes.Malaysia May Charge 200 Muslim Shiites for Deviating From Islam.KUALA LUMPUR: More than 200 Muslim Shiites including Iranians, Indonesians and Pakistanis detained in one of the biggest swoops on outlawed Muslim sects in Malaysia may be charged with breaching Islamic laws, an official said Monday.Government authorities in Muslim-majority Malaysia consider only the Sunni denomination to be legal. Sunni Islam is the world’s largest branch of the religion, followed by Shia Islam.Islamic officials raided a shop house in the Gombak district in central Selangor state last week and arrested the group, who were allegedly followers of the outlawed Shia sect, said Nurhamizah Othman, a public relations officer at the Selangor Islamic Religious Department. It was the largest swoop of outlawed groups in recent months, the department director, Muhammad Khusrin Munawi, told state media. He said the Shia doctrine is a threat to national security because it permits the killing of Muslims from other sects who are regarded as infidels. The arrests of the Shia followers have been slammed by some religious scholars, who accused Islamic authorities of becoming more hard-lined.”Malaysia is trying to become a country a la Taliban that only allows one school of thought,” said prominent Muslim scholar Asri Zainul Abidin.”Even though I personally don’t agree with Shia teachings and even frequently criticize and debate with them, I cannot accept the approach of the allegedly democratic Malaysian government in denying the people’s right to practice their faith,” he said.Nurhamizah said the detainees have all been released on bail, except two Iranians. Most are likely to be charged in an Islamic court with following the teachings of a deviationist movement, which carries a penalty of up to two years in jail, she said.Read the full story here.

  • Obama Apologizes to ‘First Americans,’ Announces Support for U.N. Declaration on ‘Rights of Indigenous People’.President Barack Obama, addressing a tribal nations conference at the White House last week, apologized for the mistreatment of the “First Americans,” and – unlike his predecessor – said he would support a United Nations declaration that sets forth the many “rights” of indigenous peoples. The president told the Native Americans the U.S. will now support the U.N Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, a resolution the U.N. General Assembly adopted in 2007 but the Bush administration rejected because of language it described as vague and open to interpretation. The declaration expresses concern that indigenous peoples have "suffered from historic injustices" as a result of colonization and "dispossession of their lands, territories and resources..." The treaty also recognizes "the urgent need to respect and promote the inherent rights" of indigenous peoples -- "especially their right to their lands, territories and resources."The Declaration goes on to provide that the UN's member states are expected to provide redress for past transgressions through effective mechanisms, which may include restitution, developed in conjunction with indigenous peoples, with respect to their cultural, intellectual, religious and spiritual property that has been taken without their free, prior and informed consent or in violation of their laws, traditions and customs".Hmmmm....Apologise...Check.....Blame Bush....Check....Getting new voters.....Check.....Destroy America...Check.Read the full destruction story here.Related ? : American Indian delegation visiting Turkey on business .Here.Hmmmm......Sell America to Turkey...Check?

  • HT:AmericaBlog.UN drops 'sexual orientation' from protected minorites list. The issue will come to a head today when the general assembly votes on renewing its routine condemnation of the unjustified killing of various categories of vulnerable people. It specifies killings for racial, national, ethnic, religious or linguistic reasons, and includes refugees, indigenous people and other groups. But because of a change promoted by Arab and African nations and approved at committee level, the resolution drops "sexual orientation" and replaces it with "discriminatory reasons on any basis".The US government says it is incensed at the change, as are gay rights campaigners. "Even if those countries do not support gay rights, you would think they would support our right not to be killed," said Jessica Stern of the New York-based International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission.Hmmmm....Time to change the name in to "The Islamic Nations"?Read the full story here.

  • Asia Bibi affair: Pakistani Christians to march on Christmas Day against blasphemy law.The leaders of the All Christian Parties Conference have decided to take to the streets on Christmas Day to call on the government to repeal the blasphemy law. As the High Court in Lahore prepares to set the date for Asia Bibi’s appeal against her death sentence on blasphemy charges, the controversy over the law continues to fuel intense debate in the country. Islamic parties have already announced a nation-wide strike to protect the law, threatening strong-arm tactics if amendments proposed in a private member bill presented by Sherry Rehman are discussed. The All Christian Parties Conference has instead decided to launch its own campaign to free Asia Bibi and have the controversial law abolished. Instead of traditional Christmas celebrations, they will take part in protest marches.Read the full story here.

  • HT:Sultan Knish. The Senate recently unanimously passed the awkwardly named "International Protecting Girls by Preventing Child Marriage Act of 2010", which obligates the government to track child marriage rates globally and fund programs to reduce it in countries with a child marriage of over 40 percent. The act mentions only one Muslim country by name (Bangladesh), but it may be one of the most 'Islamophobic' pieces of legislation ever voted on by the United States Senate.Islam is the only major world religion where child marriage has the religious sanction of its prophet. When discussing the International Protecting Girls by Preventing Child Marriage Act of 2010, Senator Durbin rose to give two examples, one from Afghanistan and one from Yemen. Again the word Islam was never mentioned, but it doesn't have to be. H.R. 2103, S. 987 is an unstated and unconscious challenge to the Islamic way of doing things. It will likely be useless, and may also funnel money to "faith-based organizations" that will probably be Islamic, but it is another reminder of the vast gap between the civilized world and Islam.Read the full story here.

  • USA - ADL Highlights Top 10 Issues Affecting Jews in 2010.The Obama Administration's efforts to jumpstart the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, the threat posed by radical Islamic terrorism, the drumbeat of Israel delegitimization, the stubborn potency of global anti-Semitism, Iran's unyielding march toward nuclear weapons, and the fallout from the Gaza flotilla affair were among the top issues affecting Jews in 2010, according to the Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) annual list."For much of the year there was a glimmer of hope that the Israeli-Palestinian peace process would finally get off the ground, and yet our hopes diminished with each passing week as the parties failed to reach a consensus and the settlements issue became a major excuse for the Palestinians," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "Meanwhile, the unrelenting global assault against Israel's legitimacy continued apace, with calls for divestment and sanctions against the Jewish state and efforts to undermine Israel's credibility in international forums and at the United Nations.""The threat of terrorism once again hit close to home, with authorities thwarting multiple plots to detonate bombs on U.S. soil," added Robert G. Sugarman, ADL National Chair. "While Jewish communities around the world largely remained safe and secure, Antisemitism continued to be a concern, as did the threat of an attack motivated by Islamic fundamentalism."Read the full story here.

  • Homeland Security's Crackdown on Websites Trafficking Counterfeit Goods Raises Alarms.Department of Homeland Security has seized more than 80 domain names since November – shutting down websites it alleges have been trafficking in counterfeit goods.Attorney General Eric Holder says the bogus merchandise, including fake purses and prescription drugs, are harming the U.S. economy and endangering American lives. “When fake goods find their way into our nation's marketplaces, the health and safety of our people can be severely compromised,” Holder said at a White House forum on intellectual property theft. While the aim may be noble, some within the tech industry say they are concerned that the government can get an order from a federal magistrate and shut down a website without ever contacting the owner.“You start with kind of a ‘presumed guilty’ kind of approach because really there's nobody, there's no opportunity to stand up and say, ‘Now wait a minute, my site's just fine,’” David Sohn, of the Center for Democracy and Technology, warned. Under current law, domain name owners can challenge seizure of their websites in an administrative hearing after the fact.If Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., succeeds, the Justice Department would have enhanced powers to do even more. He has introduced the Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act, which has broad, bipartisan support. It would allow the Justice Department to get expedited orders for shutting down domestic websites and to have the power to order U.S.-based companies to re-route consumer traffic away from offending foreign websites.Read the full story here.

  • $2tn debt crisis threatens to bring down 100 US cities.Overdrawn American cities could face financial collapse in 2011, defaulting on hundreds of billions of dollars of borrowings and derailing the US economic recovery. Nor are European cities safe – Florence, Barcelona, Madrid, Venice: all are in trouble.More than 100 American cities could go bust next year as the debt crisis that has taken down banks and countries threatens next to spark a municipal meltdown, a leading analyst has warned.Meredith Whitney, the US research analyst who correctly predicted the global credit crunch, described local and state debt as the biggest problem facing the US economy, and one that could derail its recovery."Next to housing this is the single most important issue in the US and certainly the biggest threat to the US economy," Whitney told the CBS 60 Minutes programme on Sunday night."There's not a doubt on my mind that you will see a spate of municipal bond defaults. You can see fifty to a hundred sizeable defaults – more. This will amount to hundreds of billions of dollars' worth of defaults."New Jersey governor Chris Christie summarised the problem succinctly: "We spent too much on everything. We spent money we didn't have. We borrowed money just crazily. The credit card's maxed out, and it's over. We now have to get to the business of climbing out of the hole. We've been digging it for a decade or more. We've got to climb now, and a climb is harder."American cities and states have debts in total of as much as $2tn. In Europe, local and regional government borrowing is expected to reach a historical peak of nearly €1.3tn (£1.1tn) this year. With a population of about 120,000, Vallejo has $195m (£125m) of unfunded pension obligations and has to present a bankruptcy-exit plan to a Sacramento court by 18 January. Since 1937, 619 local US government bodies, mostly small utilities or districts, have filed for bankruptcy, Bloomberg News recently reported. US cities tend to default more than European municipalities as they usually rely on bonds issued to investors, which enter into a default if the creditor misses payments. European towns, by contrast, traditionally depend on bank loans and government bailouts.Hmmmm..."Change you can see"?Read the full story here.

A key Intelligence source has confirmed the threat as "credible." Department of Homeland Security officials, along with members of the Department of Agriculture and the FDA, have briefed a small group of corporate security officers from the hotel and restaurant industries about it.The plot uncovered earlier this year is said to involve the use of two poisons - ricin and cyanide - slipped into salad bars and buffets."Initially it would look very much like food poisoning," said St. John's University professor of pharmaceutical sciences Dr. Susan Ford. • 32% of British Muslim students support killing for Islam; 40% want Sharia Law.32% of British Muslim students support killing for Islam; 40% want Sharia Law. If the way young Muslims in Britain are feeling is any indication for America’s own Muslim community, then America better beware. According to a new survey done at 30 universities in Britain, the young Muslim student body in that country is extremely radicalized. The poll asked 600 Muslim students and 800 of their non-Muslim peers about politically touchy subjects like killing in the name of Islam and Sharia Law—and the results were like night and day between the two demographics. While hardly anyone in the non-Muslim sample accepted killing in the name of religion, basically one-third of all Muslim students in Britain supported this. This frightening confirmation of the deadly and violent extremism in the young Muslims of Britain is also an indication of the utter failure of British society to both integrate as well as to better police their Muslim communities. The word "Londonistan" is often disparagingly used to symbolize the permissible Islamic extremism that goes down in Britain. After more confirmation of the massive dilemma (putting it lightly) with Islam and Muslims in the world, I fail to see where all this propaganda of "the religion of peace" fits in! This survey data just shows what other troublesome (again, putting it lightly) results confirm about Islam. It is not a religion of peace; it is not only a few rotten apples, so to speak, among Muslims; and it is a clear and present danger that is not going away anytime soon.Hmmmmm.....There can be only one?Read the full story here.

  • Pakistan test fires nuclear-capable missile.Pakistan on Tuesday successfully test fired a medium-range ballistic missile capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads, the military said. The military said in a statement that Ghauri Hatf 5, with a range of 1,300 kilometres (800 miles), could carry conventional and other warheads. The launch was conducted by the Army Strategic Force command's strategic missile group at the end of a field-training exercise aimed at testing the force's operational readiness, the statement said.Pakistan's Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee chairman General Khalid Shahmeem Wyne and other senior military officers and scientists witnessed the tests, it said."You have made the nation proud and we salute you for your outstanding work," Gilani told the scientists and engineers.South Asian rivals India and Pakistan -- which have fought three wars, two of them over the disputed territory of Kashmir -- have routinely carried out missile tests since both demonstrated nuclear weapons capability in 1998.Pakistan's arsenal includes short-, medium- and long-range missiles named after Muslim conquerors.

  • Incoming House Homeland Security Chair Plans Hearings on Muslim Radicalization.Representative Peter King (R-NY) says he'll call for hearings into the radicalization of Muslim Americans when he takes over as chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security in the new congressional term.In an interview on FOX's "America Live," King said "We have to break through this politically correct nonsense which keeps us from debating and discussing what I think is one of the most vitally important issues in this country. We are under siege by Muslim terrorists and yet there are Muslim leaders in this country who do not cooperate with law enforcement."And he also notes a rise in terrorist recruitment in the United States saying, "We have the reality that Al-Qaida is trying to recruit Muslim-Americans, and yet we have people in the Muslim community who refuse to face up to this." But some Muslim groups have said such hearings would be an anti-Muslim witch hunt and lead to an era of McCarthy-type hearings.Hmmmm.......So far i haven't seen a single Mazzel Tov shouting Jew practicing dive bombing with passenger planes, nor a single one trying to blow himself up while shouting Mazzle Tov,so yes i think it’s reasonable to investigate radical Muslims.Read the full story here.

  • More than 100 Arab Christians in Canada named on Al Qaida-affiliated website.VANCOUVER - More than 100 Canadian-Arab Christians are listed on an al-Qaida affiliated website, apparently targeted because of their alleged role in attempting to convert Muslims. Some of those named say concerned Canadian intelligence officials have contacted them. The Shumukh-al-Islam website, often considered to be al-Qaida's mouth piece, listed pictures, addresses and cell phone numbers of Coptic Christians, predominantly Egyptian-Canadians, who have been vocal about their opposition to Islam. In a forum on the website, one member named Son of a Sharp Sword, says "We are going to return back to Islam and all of the Mujahedeen (holy warriors) will cut off their heads."Three pages of the fundamentalist, Arabic-language website titled "Complete information on Coptics" sets to "identify and name all of the Coptics throughout the world who hope to defame Islam," The website calls the Coptic Christians living abroad "dogs in diaspora," a derogatory reference in Arabic.Among those named on the Shumukh-al-Islam website is Samuel Tawadrous, a Coptic Egyptian living in Quebec."This is a direct threat against our lives," Tawadrous said in an interview."They are trying to inform each other in hopes that someone can carry out this threat. They could be in Egypt and they could be here. Our names and our pictures are listed."Tawadrous's picture and cell phone number were listed on the site. One of the prominent figures listed on the website is Salim Naguib, who helped establish a Coptic organization in Canada. • HT:RightTruth.Muslims Gaming the System for Terror.Small Town USA, written by Gadi Adelman, reveals how muslims in a small town can carry on illegal activities, raise money for terrorism, by gaming the American system right under the nose of their neighbors. At least four different federal agencies conducted searches at 4 stores, a residence and a mosque and made arrested Abdullah Ahmed Almuwallad, 32, and Mohamed Mohamed Nagi, 33 in Henderson, North Carolina. It could have been any small town across this great nation and the story is not a new one.Authorities suspect the stores were operating a so-called hawala money-transfer network supporting terrorist activities in Yemen, including al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, WND has learned.Investigators suspect proceeds from cigarette smuggling and food stamp irregularities have been laundered through the Henderson stores to terror front groups in Yemen. Well-organized Islamic and other cigarette smuggling networks generate between $200,000 and $300,000 per week in New York alone, found a 2008 House Homeland Security Committee staff report.Abdo Saleh is related to Saleh Saleh of Dearborn, Michigan Why does that matter?Read the full story here.

  • HT:The AmericanSpectator.Perfect: Al Sharpton Helping FCC Design Rush Limbaugh 'Free Speech' Show Trials.December 21 is the darkest day of every year. This year it will be especially dark due to the last of the 2010 lunar eclipses. Thus it is the perfect day for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to vote to take over in unsanctioned fashion the Internet -- which they are currently scheduled to do.FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski has in fact conducted the entire process leading up to this unelected bureaucrat Web power grab shrouded in shadow. One of the many authoritarian facets of this authoritarian procedure has been the lack of any public hearings on the new Internet order on which the FCC is about to vote. This is a move to commandeer control of one-sixth of the nation's economy -- we should at least be given an opportunity to weigh in prior, right?Apparently not -- because apparently the FCC is looking into warping beyond all recognition its definition of "public hearing" -- with the Reverend Al Sharpton lending a hand. How do we know this? Because Reverend Al appeared on Tom Joyner's radio show on December 15 and said the following:I spent yesterday, Tom, in Washington on two issues I want to raise quickly this morning. One, we met -- the heads of the National Action Network and I -- with some of the FCC Commissioners. And we're asking for public hearings on what should be standards in regard to race and gender on publicly regulated TV and radio. What Rush Limbaugh and others have done I believe has pushed the envelope beyond free speech. We all have the right to free speech, we all have the right -- including those on the right-wing -- to express ourselves. But if there are standards on decency that the government gives and enforces for regulated licenses for television and radio, then included in that ought to be those that make references explicitly or implicitly based on race, gender and sexual orientation. And we intend to follow that up with public hearings and bring some of those in front of a public hearing to explain how they justify the use of federally regulated airwaves to offend people based on who they are -- not using free speech based on what their opinions may be.This Sharpton dictatorial inanity is fairly self-explanatory. The fact that he is being indulged by the FCC is more than a might disturbing. The fact that Sharpton first publicly called in November for the FCC to make this censorious move -- and it garnered the FCC's interest, not ridicule and summary dismissal, is more disturbing still. That Sharpton is a White House visitor -- he was present at the tax rate extension signing with no hint of irony as to the millions he and his Network owe the IRS -- means his FCC meetings may carry the Administration imprimatur. This particular portion of the FCC trend towards the totalitarian may be explained thusly -- they have in their employ as their inaugural Chief Diversity Officer Mark Lloyd. Who in 2007 co-wrote a Center for American Progress-Free Press "report" -- entitled The Structural Imbalance of Political Talk Radio -- that calls on the government to "equalize" Conservative talk radio.Hmmmmm.....Later historians will look back at this moment in time and say At this moment we lost American freedom and free speech!Dictatorship started this peticular day in time!"A date who will live in infamy"!Read the full story here.

  • F.C.C. Poised to Pass Net Neutrality Order. The chairman of the Federal Communications Commission appears to have the votes he needs to pass new rules for net neutrality.Net neutrality — which broadly speaking is an effort to ensure open access to Web sites and online services — is on the agenda of an F.C.C. meeting Tuesday in Washington. The F.C.C.’s chairman, Julius Genachowski, outlined a framework for net neutrality earlier this month, touching off a debate about the role of the government in regulating Internet access. As it stands now, the order would prohibit the blocking of any Web sites, applications or devices by fixed-line broadband Internet providers like Comcast and EarthLink, essentially forbidding the providers from picking winners and losers on behalf of consumers, F.C.C. officials said Monday. The F.C.C. officials also said that the order would broaden the government’s enforcement powers over broadband. They spoke only on condition of anonymity ahead of Tuesday’s meeting on the matter. The F.C.C. order has not been made public. If approved, the rules “will give some assurances to the companies that are building Web applications — companies like Netflix, Skype, Google — that they will get even treatment on broadband networks,” said Rebecca Arbogast, a regulatory analyst for Stifel Nicolaus, a financial services firm. The prohibitions, however, are subject to what the F.C.C. calls “reasonable network management,” and they are considerably watered down for wireless providers. “It is by definition a compromise,” Ms. Arbogast said.Critics have condemned Mr. Genachowski’s proposal as “fake net neutrality.” One of those critics, Senator Al Franken, Democrat of Minnesota, said over the weekend that the F.C.C. was effectively allowing discrimination on the Internet by adopting weak rules for wireless Internet access.Hmmmmm.....Why do it get the feeling that it's only about control of the internet?Read the full story here.

We need to see what the first picture is. If it’s there is an element of pornography, we can report it also to the Police. We do not want to be reckless without proof,” said the sectarian gang’s Jakarta gauleiter, Habib Salim Alatas.Apparently, a photo of Rahma on close terms with Simon was posted on Twitter account yesterday, but it was hardly ‘rude.’But, said FPI, they shouldn’t be enjoying affectionate hugs. “Yeah, that’s the problem. We can’t have intimacy of that sort. It’s not who they are, but their behaviour,” said Habib.Apparently, these intimate images will be a way forward for the loony sharia mob to begin ‘investigating’ actress Ayu Azhari’s sister.“That’s the cue for us, too, to see if it is true or not…,” he explained. “Any artist damages the morality of the nation, the FPI will act, and that includes Rahma Azhari. Later we’ll report to the cops.”This pretty lady’s problems may be compounded, in the cretinous bigots’ eyes. by her photographic history, which includes a fine shot of her in the shower with her sister Sarah a couple of years ago and another nude pic which got onto the internet around 2007.In fact there are three sisters, all lovelies, as you can judge for yourselves. This constant harrying of gorgeous women is an indication of the FPI’s threadbare qualifications to be regarded as even vaguely religious. They’re just obsessed with navels, cleavage, and buttocks -which in any other group of guys would be quite understandable, but NORMAL men don’t go rushing to the cops to complain!Hmmmmm.....Obama "Indonesia is an example of tolerance"Yeah we can see this.Read the full story here.

  • Islamic group asks DoJ to review police training. Two groups representing American Muslims differed sharply Monday over revelations in The Washington Post about the sometimes-ignorant quality of local police training on radical Islam, with one group calling for a Justice Department investigation, the other saying it “is not a systematic problem.” "Monitoring America," by staff reporters Dana Priest and William M. Arkin, cited examples of “experts” without formal training who are telling law enforcement groups that most U.S. Muslims want to take over America and replace the legal system with a strict code of religious laws known as sharia."They want to make this world Islamic,” one instructor, a former Army Special Forces sergeant and Los Angeles Police Department investigator who is now a private security consultant, told The Post. “The Islamic flag will fly over the White House…My job is to wake up the public, and first, the first responders."Another trainer quoted by The Post says he warns police officers that "you need to look at the entire pool of Muslims in a community," and recommended that law enforcement authorities "monitor Muslim student groups and local mosques and, if possible, tap their phones." The Post said such views echo "Shariah: The Threat to America," a study by the neoconservative Center for Security Policy, which argues that radical Muslims are conducting a "stealth jihad" in the United States.CAIR, he said, “is in denial that there is no Islamic threat…They just want to dismiss everything as Islamophobic.

  • Swine flu: 200 fight for life as number of patients in intensive care doubles in a week.Nearly 200 swine flu victims were fighting for their lives last night. The number of patients in intensive care has doubled in a week and many of them are either elderly or pregnant.Seventeen of the 190 are being kept alive by highly-specialised heart and lung machines – three times the usual number.Pregnant mother-of-four Fallon Devaney, 25, is in a critical condition in hospital after contracting the disease last week.Doctors fear that the baby is sapping Ms Devaney's strength - leaving her unable to fight the infection. It is feared that the swine flu strain may have grown more virulent over the past 12 months with victims quickly becoming dangerously.Intensive care units are warned to look out for the illness in new admissions, with medics urged to use antiviral medicines if they have the least suspicion a patient has it.Hospital managers have been holding emergency meetings to draw up plans to tackle a further onslaught of cases. It is thought the cold weather could cause a surge of admissions, putting intensive care units under massive strain.Analysis by SDI Healthcare, which models flu rates based on reports from GPs and chemists, suggests infection rates are at a five-year high.Bob Winter, of the Intensive Care Society, said: ‘We are certainly seeing more patients in intensive care this year compared with last year. They have a mixture of flu, mainly H1N1 and are aged 16 to 65.'It seems to be behaving differently from last year. The ones that are getting it seem to be getting it more seriously.‘Last year most people got mildly ill. • Jewish religious leader accuses top mufti of besmirching Russia's "native population".Moscow, December 20, Interfax - The head of a Russian Jewish association accused one of Russia's top Muslim clerics of making offensive statements about Russia's "native population.""The negative statements by mufti [Ravil] Gainutdin about the native population of Russia, which is forever drinking, and 'hard-working migrants' are, of course, unfair. We resolutely reject this. All nations have different kinds of people in them but one must by no means make any generalizations," rabbi Zinovy Kogan, chairman of the Congress of Jewish Religious Organizations and Communities in Russia, told reporters."Today secular and religious leaders must be extremely careful in their formulations if they may damage ethnic peace in light of the latest events on Manezhnaya Square," Kogan said in reference to a violent riot on the square, which lies next to the Kremlin, on December 11.On Thursday head of the Russian Council of Muftis Ravil Gainutdin argued at an Interreligious Council meeting that it is essential for Russia to have migrants, most of whom come from other parts of the former Soviet Union, mainly Central Asia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, and are often targeted in racist attacks."Today Russian villages are falling apart or disappearing. One must not blame the migrants - they are in effect our slaves, they come here to work for us. We must work ourselves and create wealth for our country," Gainutdin said."For 20 years we have raised a generation that doesn't like to work but likes to watch porno, drink alcohol, take drugs, hang out in clubs - none of them will go out into the field to sow or to harvest," he said."The nationalists who are insisting that all migrants, all those who are 'not our own people,' be driven out of Russia have started the job of ruining the Russian Federation," Gainutdin said.Hmmmmm......"One must not blame the migrants - they are in effect our slaves, they come here to work for us."Read the full story here. • WikiLeaks cables: Yemen radioactive stocks 'were easy al-Qaida target'.Sana'a official told US diplomats solo sentry had been removed from atomic facility and CCTV system was broken.A senior government official in Yemen warned US diplomats that poor security at the country's main store of radioactive products could allow dangerous material to fall into the hands of terrorists, according to a leaked US embassy cable. The official told the Americans that the lone guard standing watch at Yemen's national atomic energy commission (NAEC) facility had been removed from his post and that its only closed circuit TV security camera had broken down six months previously and was never fixed."Very little now stands between the bad guys and Yemen's nuclear material," the official warned, in a cable dated 9 January this year sent from the Sana'a embassy to the CIA, the FBI and the department of homeland security as well as the US secretary of state in Washington and others.Yemen, the Arab world's poorest nation, has emerged as al-Qaida's most active base, after Iraq and Afghanistan. It is home to Al-Qaida in the Arab Peninsula (AQAP), the group behind a series of attacks on western targets, including the failed airline cargo bomb plot in October and the attempt to bring down a US passenger jet over Detroit on Christmas Day last year. The Nigerian-born Detroit bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, was radicalised in Yemen, according to security sources. The cable revealed that the facility holds large quantities of radioactive material used by hospitals, local universities for agricultural research and in oilfields. The international community fears radioactive isotopes could be used to make a dirty bomb – a device combining simple explosives with radioactive materials, which it would disperse over a wide area. The isotopes are not explosive themselves, unlike nuclear material such as uranium. Although unlikely to kill a large number of people, such a device could cause tremendous damage and disruption by creating large no-go areas contaminated by radioactivity.International experts said today the lack of security at the Yemen facility would be a "high priority" for the US government. Told of the cable's revelation of the type of materials and the amount stored in Yemen's NAEC facility, Matthew Bunn, a former White House science adviser who specialises in nuclear threat and terrorism, said: "Holy cow. That's a big source."If dispersed by terrorists it could make a very nasty dirty bomb capable of contaminating a wide area," said Bunn, an associate professor at Harvard University's John F Kennedy school of government, who compiles an annual assessment of the nuclear terrorism threat titled Securing the Bomb.Hmmmm.....Anyone needs a "Dirty "Bomb?Read the full story here.
