- Erdoğan recalls Nobel spirit in genocide bill debate.Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has expressed hope that US President Barack Obama would support Turkey’s stance concerning a vote by the US House of Representatives on a resolution declaring the World War I-era killings of Armenians a genocide, suggesting that such support would comply with the Nobel spirit. Erdoğan, speaking to reporters late on Tuesday, was cautious as he said that last-minute developments could occur.“We are following this closely. However, we have always been told of the Nobel as peace and as love. I believe that those who argue for peace and love will stand behind this argument,” Erdoğan said at a joint press conference with visiting Syrian Prime Minister Muhammad Naji al-Otri. In October 2009, the Nobel committee awarded Obama the Peace Prize, citing what it expected he would accomplish in reducing threats around the globe.
Hmmmm....What in God Almighty his name has the Nobel Prize to see with Turks Butchering Millions of innocent Armenians, how low can you steep?Read the full story here.
- HT:GatewayPundit.Obama: START Treaty Will Help Us Seek a World Without (American) Nuclear Weapons (Video). Our naive far left Commander in Chief celebrated a “world without nuclear weapons” today after the signing of the START Treaty with Russia. Of course, the only nuclear weapons he is worried about and can control are US nuclear weapons. So far he has been unable to persuade Iran, Syria and North Korea to join him in making his childish wish a reality.Read and see the full idiocy story here.
- Middle East preview of 2011.Every year is pivotal for the Middle East. But in 2011 the pivots are clearer than they have ever been. Can Iran escape military action for another 12 months? Can peace hold in Israel and the West Bank? Can the West avoid a major al-Qaeda attack? The questions have been asked before, but they get louder. Meanwhile ageing regimes, such as Egypt’s dictatorship and Saudi Arabia’s royal gerontocracy, will come face to face with the uncertainty of their futures. Read the full story here.
- HT:AmericanDream.Bye Bye American Pie: 10 Reasons Why America’s Economic Pie Is Rapidly Shrinking. All over the mainstream media today, the wealthy are being pitted against the poor. Those advocating for the wealthy claim that if we could just cut the taxes for the rich and make things easier for them that they will create lots of jobs for the rest of us. Those advocating for the poor claim that the gap between the rich and the poor is now larger than ever and that if we could just get the workers to fight for their rights that we could get things back to how they used to be. It is a very interesting debate, but it totally ignores a reality that is even more important. America's economic pie is rapidly shrinking. As part of the new globalist economy, every single month massive amounts of U.S. wealth is being transferred out of the United States and into foreign hands in exchange for oil and cheap plastic trinkets. In addition, every single month our national government goes into more debt, our state governments go into more debt and our local governments go into more debt. The interest on all of this debt represents a tremendous transfer of wealth. What most Americans fail to grasp is that our collective wealth is getting smaller. There is now less of an "economic pie" for all of us to divide up.When it comes to economics, most people have a presupposition that the United States will always be getting wealthier. But that is completely and totally wrong. The truth is that we have been steadily getting poorer over the last several decades, and now we are bleeding national wealth at such a pace that it is almost unimaginable. All over the country tremendous economic pain is starting to set in, and tens of millions of people are getting very angry. Americans are lashing out at both political parties, at their employers and at each other, but the reality is that the vast majority of them simply do not understand why all of this is happening. They just want to be told that someone is working to "fix" the problem with the economy and that things will get back to "normal" soon. But things are not going to be getting back to "normal". Please follow along as I explain many of the reasons why America's economic pie is rapidly shrinking.Read the full story here.
- Russian Islamic leaders against the Kremlin. The leaders of the Russian Muslim community have launched a strong attack against the authorities in the country. The head of the Council of muftis of Russia, Ravil Gainutdin, accuses the state of wanting to obstruct the unification of Muslims and attempting to "suppress Islam" in the Federation. He has also described as "puppets" and "squalid people," those mufti who work in government institutions.Gainutdin’s charges against the State are also motivated by the recent creation of the fourth muftiyat (Islamic Council), the "Russian Association of Islamic agreement" designed precisely to prevent any process of unification. "The new ' pocket muftis ', who oppose the growth of Islam are mere puppets" says Gainutdin. "These puppets, like those who work in government, for example, the Islamophobic Grishin (the director of the Presidential Administration in charge of relations with Islamic organizations, ed), will not hesitate to suppress Islam in Russia ... which is already taking place, "he added.Commenting on the recent clashes between Nationalist hooligans and mostly Muslim immigrants from the Caucasus, Gainutdin emphasized the existence of tensions in the capital home to more than two million Muslims. He also pointed out the need to build new mosques in Moscow, where the faithful are forced to pray, for lack of space, "in the streets, on tram lines, and even in the courtyards of churches." "This humiliation, this discriminatory policy against civil rights continue, before the eyes of Muslims around the world."Hmmmmm....Putin has shown weakness for the Muslim case and this is the result.Read the full story here.
- 'Armenian genocide' bill doesn’t reach US House, Armenians say.A U.S. Armenian campaign to pass the "Armenian genocide" resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives has failed, major Armenian groups reported late Wednesday."Despite a broad bipartisan majority of U.S. representatives prepared to vote in favor of the Armenian Genocide Resolution [H.Res. 252], U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi chose today to let this session of Congress expire without bringing this human rights legislation to a vote," Armenian National Committee of America, or ANCA said in a statement on its website. After Wednesday's meeting, the current House, Congress' lower chamber, will end its session, and the new Congress elected in the midterm elections on Nov. 2 will take office on Jan. 3.Armenia claims up to 1.5 million Armenians were systematically killed in 1915 under the rule of the Ottoman Empire. Turkey denies this, saying a much smaller number of deaths were the result of civil strife that erupted when Armenians took up arms in eastern Anatolia.
Hmmmm....The Armenian victims "thank" the US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her silence.Read the full story here.
- North Korea threatens 'holy war' using nuclear deterrent as South stages massive firing drills in disputed territory.North Korea has responded to massive firing drills by its South rival by warning it is ready to stage a 'holy war' on the peninsula. An armed forces minister said it would be ready to retaliate using 'nuclear deterrent' after the latest military drills in a disputed territory. It comes after South Korean tanks fired shells and fighter jets dropped bombs on mountain ranges in the biggest drills this year. One spectator, Kim Tae-dong, 70, said: 'We are facing a crisis because of North Korea, so I came to see this air and ground operation.'I want to feel and see the level of South Korea's armed forces. - Muslim 'poppy burners' in court deny offending public during Armistice Day protest. Two men accused of burning poppies on the anniversary of Armistice Day each denied a public order offence today.Mohammad Haque, 30, and Emdadur Choudhury, 26, were arrested during a demonstration by Islamist group Muslims Against Crusades. The group held a noisy and confrontational demonstration in Kensington, west London, on November 11.The pair, who both had beards and wore traditional black Muslim robes under their coats, each pleaded not guilty to one count under section five of the Public Order Act.It is alleged that on November 11 at Kensington Gore both employed threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour within hearing or sight of persons who could be alarmed or distressed by this.Outlining the charge, Prosecutor Malachy Pakenham said: 'It is a matter of so-called protest. They burned poppies on Armistice Day, it is as straightforward as that.Read the full story here.
- Ex-Iran diplomat admits working toward nuclear bomb with North Korea's help.Dissident Iranian official says Iran's claim that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes is a façade. An Iranian former diplomat says Iran is working toward developing a nuclear bomb with the help of scientists from North Korea and other countries worldwide, the Daily Telegraph reported on Wednesday.Mohammed Reza Heydari, former of the Iranian embassy in Oslo, Norway, told the British newspaper that he had helped North Korean technicians and military experts enter Iran while he was working for the Iranian foreign ministry office in Tehran's airport.Heydari said the North Korean experts helped Iran develop nuclear bomb capability and increase the range of Iran's ballistic missiles. He said that his mission was to allow North Korean military staff, as well as Palestinians associated with Hamas, enter the country without any visa and passport inspection.Hmmmm.....But,but,but Turkey states Iran is a peacefull country?Read the full story here.
- House GOP to Require Legislation Meet Constitutional Standard.House Republicans introduced a draft set of House rules for the 112th Congress on Wednesday which seeks to offer a "sea change" in the way the House operates -- with greater openness, deliberation, efficiency and a closer adherence to the U.S. Constitution. The rules package being touted as expansive in its reach, focused in its purpose and an attempt to honor the promises made in the Pledge to America to reform Congress, including reducing operating costs of the House itself. "These reforms represent Republicans' first step in keeping the promises we outlined in the Pledge to America to change the way Washington works and address the people's priorities: creating jobs and cutting spending," said House Speaker-designate John Boehner of Ohio.Read the full story here.
- HT:BigPeace.Report Your Neighbors With the ‘PatriotApp’ for Your Phone!A report from the UK explains how for just $2 you can download a “PatriotApp” here in the US, which allows you to report suspicious activity in your neighborhood. Sales have not been good, so the app is being offered free for a short time. So are you going to get your hands on one?“If it’s the $1.99 price that has been preventing you from being properly patriotic then hold back no more – until Christmas you can download the PatroitApp for free. The application simplifies reporting suspicious activity, instantly sending photograph-supported e-mails to federal bodies who need to know whether your neighbour is stockpiling weapons of mass destruction or just enriching uranium on the side: it’s your patriotic duty to report anything you don’t like the look of.The application was launched on September 11, but it seems Americans just aren’t patriotic enough to shell out a couple of dollars for the sake of world security, and despite being available in various other territories (including the UK) foreign nationals have also proved reluctant to cough up for the facility to easily report on their comrades, despite the stirring music (if the office allows it then do crank up the volume, but try to resist the urge to stand up and salute).Hmmmm....Is this for real??Read the full Stasi story here.
- HT:IslamInEurope.Lebanon: Jihadis fleeing to Europe.French newspaper Le Figaro says that around twenty Jihadis (FR) infiltrated Greece, Germany and France. The new threat comes from a group of about 50 dangerous Jihadis caught between the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon and the Lebanese army. Most are Palestinian refugees, others are Syrian, Saudi, Yemeni and North Africans who came to the Palestinian camps in Lebanon, where the army does not venture. Mostly from the al-Qaeda inspired Fatah al-Islam, they found refuge in Ain al-Hilweh, after the Lebanese army evicted them from Nahr al-Barid in 2007.The army can't touch all those 'wanted' Jihadis. Some went undergrounds, others have impressive security forces. Some chose European exile.Palestinian Colonel Mahmoud Issa, in charge of security in Ain al-Hilweh, told Le Figaro that in the past year, about twenty of them fled to Greece and Bulgaria, and that some of them continued into Germany, France and Belgium. Issa says they have their names and try to keep track of them, in coordination with the local authorities, but it's not easy as they sometimes change their identity and appearance. They traveled through Syria and Turkey and from there entered Greece and Bulgaria illegally and without passports. There they bought fake ID for a few hundred dollars. Some were arrested in Sofia, others deported by the Greeks and Bulgarians. "But not all," regrets Colonel Issa.Read the full story here.
- HT:RightWingNewsIsraelis Think No Concession Will Ever Satisfy the West: 6 Reasons Why They’re Right.Sometimes, I wonder how well the Israelis really understand the situation that they're in. This suggests that they have a pretty good handle on the world opinion part of it.A newly released WikiLeaks cable quotes Ron Dermer, a top adviser to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, telling a U.S. diplomat of Israelis’ frustration with the peace process. Surprisingly, however, Dermer didn’t focus primarily on Palestinian behavior. Rather, he charged, “the Israeli public is skeptical regarding the benefits of returning to negotiations” because “all the GOI [government of Israel] has received in return for its efforts [to date] was a ‘slap-down from the international community.’”Dermer didn’t offer evidence to support his claim about Israeli frustration with the “international community,” but the data are shocking: according to the August Peace Index poll, fully 77 percent of Jewish Israelis think “it makes no difference what Israel does and how far it may go on the Palestinian issue; the world will continue to be very critical of it.” And in fact, Israelis have good reasons for this belief. For instance, when Hezbollah continued attacking Israel even after Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000, the world, far from condemning Hezbollah, excoriated Israel when it finally responded to these attacks in the 2006 Second Lebanon War. Moreover, after having certified the withdrawal as 100 percent complete in 2000, the UN Security Council then rewarded Hezbollah’s aggression in 2006 by voting to remap Lebanon’s borders, “especially in those areas where the border is disputed” by Hezbollah, with an eye toward forcing Israel to quit additional territory. Then, when Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, evacuating 25 settlements in the process, it was rewarded by daily rocket fire on its cities from the evacuated territory. Yet when it finally fought back, in 2008, it was slapped with the Goldstone Report, which accused it of “war crimes” and urged its indictment in the International Criminal Court. Here's Israel's real problem with "world opinion."Read the full story here.
- HT:GatewayPundit.Rep. Marsha Blackburn Explains How GOP Will Block FCC Takeover of the Internet (Video).Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) was on Hannity with Mark Steyn last night to discuss the FCC takeover of the internet during the lame duck session.Rep. Blackburn described how the GOP would block this contoversial power grab including withholding funds for such operations:This may sound like a Halloween tale, but the FCC’s Christmas Week takeover of the Internet is the best example of President Reagan’s maxim that the nearest thing to eternal life on Earth is a federal program. Just four days before Christmas, the FCC will make its vampric leap from its traditional jurisdiction- the terrestrial radio and land line telephones that have fallen into disuse; onto the gifts piled neatly under our trees. The iPads and iPhones, Androids, Wiis, Webbooks, and WiFi will all feel the federal bite in a way they never have before. Today the FCC, in spite of Congressional opposition and public outrage, is expected to adopt “net neutrality” regulations over the Internet. They will impose thousands of pages of rules on the most prosperous, creative, and exciting sector of the American economy. They’ll do it- and then Congress will have to undo it. Like the breaking of dawn, the new Congress will prove a swift antidote to the federal bloodsucker you found at your throat this Christmas. Hmmm....Anyone wants some "Wooden stakes"?Read the full story here.
- Terrorist cell 'radicalised in jail'.Members of an alleged terrorist cell plotting to launch suicide attacks on Christmas shoppers and tourists in London were radicalised in jail, it has been claimed. The alleged terrorist cell, based in Stoke-on-Trent, Cardiff and London is said to be linked to the banned extremist group al-Muhajiroun and its off-shoot Islam4UK. Sources say the gang was planning a “spectacular” attack on commercial sites such as banks and shops along with “iconic” sites in London. They were arrested after months of surveillance by MI5 as they prepared to launch their attacks in the week before Christmas, sources said. The group of mainly British nationals of Bangladeshi origin, is said to have links with Anwar al-Awlaki, the radical al-Qaeda preacher based in Yemen. It emerged yesterday that three men arrested were apparently radicalised while serving time in prison.Hmmm...."The Religion of Peace"?Read the full story here.
- HT:IslamInEurope.Putin: 'Wouldn't give 10 kopecks for the health of somebody who disrespects the Koran'.Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said the murder of Spartak fan Yegor Sviridov is a tragedy and an attack on the whole community of Russia's soccer fans."You should treat it as an attack against all of you, regardless of the place of residence, ethnicity or religion. Muscovite Yegor Sviridov was killed. It's a big tragedy," Putin stated at a meeting with fan clubs' representatives on Tuesday. He said he was motivated by the concern that the immunity to nationalism and xenophobia might be weakening, which shows at stadiums. Now that the whole world is open, different teams have players from different countries. "The country that isolates itself, comes to nought," he said, "an open country cannot be nationalistic.""Each has his small Motherland, we're proud of it. I wouldn't give ten kopecks for the health of the person from central Russia, who displays impoliteness towards the Koran in a North Caucasus republic. But people from the North Caucasus, while coming to other regions, should have respect for the local culture, customs and laws, too," Putin underlined."It is only this way, by respecting each other, that we'll be using the advantages of our common Motherland, our diversity," the premier underlined. In his opinion, Russia's advantage is its ethnic diversity. "Our peoples have developed a certain culture of relationship and respect for each other. It's always been our strong point," he said.Hmmmm....I'm sure people in Chechnya are looking at each other now.Read the full story here.
- HT:NewsRealBlog.Women Caught Outside After Midnight Arrested as Prostitutes in Obama’s “Model of Religious Tolerance”.“No matter what setbacks may come,” declared President Obama last month in his former home, “the United States is committed to human progress.” He spoke at the University of Indonesia, in the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. The address was to launch a new era of outreach to the Islamic faithful, in a nation the president has praised as a “model of religious tolerance.” But just this week, a major women’s rights group in Indonesia blasted the increasing oppression of women there. What, we may ask, does President Obama consider “progress?” And is his definition more in line with values traditionally American, or traditionally Muslim?Indeed, the president was probably just being diplomatic when he cited Indonesia’s national motto, “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” which means “unity in diversity.” CNN online reported that “Obama lauded Indonesia for its spirit of inclusiveness despite its diverse population and history of dictatorship.” In other words, as long as the “spirit” is right, what need has anyone to consider history? The real question may be, is oppression in this country the president holds so dear merely historical? An article in Tuesday’s Jakarta Globe suggests otherwise.“Despite widespread criticism,” it reports, “the number of discriminatory bylaws continues to increase across the country.” This was the verdict of the National Commission on Violence Against Women,” a major women’s rights group there. It notes that 35 of these 189 bylaws have gone into effect just this year. The chairwoman of this organization, Yuniyanti Chuzaifah, said that women’s rights to free expression and gainful employment were limited by no less than 80 of them.“In the name of morality,” she said, “women’s rights are being sidelined in a country that is ostensibly governed by a spirit of democracy and humanism.” Indeed, that “spirit” seems to be a feeble force. “This figure is concrete proof of the fact that the [Indonesian] Constitution has pushed women to the periphery of society.”One of these bylaws mandates that female employees and high school girls wear Islamic dress. Another demands that women who appear in public after midnight must be considered prostitutes and arrested. According to the Globe article, “social mores” keep Indonesian women from “taking a united stand against this trend” by dividing them into “distinct groups.”No less a personage than Queen Hemas of the Yogyakarta Sultanate expressed concern that the motto quoted by President Obama was threatened by this trend. The Queen called upon the “silent majority” in her country to “stand up for human rights, especially when it comes to minority groups.”Hmmm.....Obama :"Indonesia an example of tolerance.Read the full story here.
- HT:NewsRealBlog. To CAIR or Not To Care: Homegrown Terror and Domestic Radicalization.American born terrorists are trying to kill us. Since 9/11, nearly fifty terrorist plots, germinated in the United States and aspiring to inflict substantial casualties on the American public, have been uncovered in various stages of development. In an effort to address this emerging threat, Rep. Peter King (R-NY), incoming chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, has indicated that he intends to hold hearings on the issues of radicalization, the underlying factors affecting its proliferation, and how best our society can collectively address this phenomenon. Not surprising, several organizations, including the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), have come out against such an inquiry. A spokesman for CAIR, Ibrahim Hooper, went so far as to suggest that Rep. King’s proposed hearings were tantamount to a “witch hunt,” stating,"We’re concerned that it’ll become a McCarthy-type hearing.”Having public hearings to better understand and conceptualize the long-standing, but emergent threat of homegrown radicalization should be welcomed. Rather than using the red herring of “McCarthy-ism,” and eschewing the legitimacy of Rep. King’s inquiry, organizations dedicated to the advancement of the Muslim community should recognize the dangers inherent in an ideological battle that pits radicalized indoctrinators of hate against moderate, mainstream American Muslims.Every American has a stake in the struggle against radicalization and a united, well-informed public stands the best chance of preventing the germ of radicalization from manifesting into a future act of terror. Rep. King’s proposed hearings present a valuable opportunity to enhance this dialogue; an opportunity that organizations such as CAIR should welcome.Hmmmm....Or do they have something to hide?Read the full story here.
