But the fired diplomat, Manouchehr Mottaki, is seen as close to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. • 'Terrorism Special Policy' Prevents Pro-Israel Group from Gaining IRS Tax Exempt Status.Z Street, the pro-Israel group that alleges the IRS has prevented it from gaining tax exempt status because its policy toward Israel is anti-thetical to the administration's, now says that the IRS is changing its tune. Instead, Z Street is being excluded because of a "a Terrorism Special Policy, and that Israel is included." Lori Lowenthal Marcus, in a short press release, briefly explains what's going on:We now have the mind-numbing IRS defense for delaying (almost a year now!) Z STREET's application for tax exempt status. In a signed affidavit, an IRS official explains that there is no "Israel Special Policy," instead it is a Terrorism Special Policy, and that Israel is included. That's right, Israel is a terrorist state because terrorism happens there. True, Israel is the victim, but why quibble with details? This brings moral equivalency to a whole new level. And you'll be shocked, shocked to learn that the government completely ignores having asked another organization whether that organization "supports the existence of Israel", and that organization's "religious beliefs about the land of Israel." • Sword-wielding teen arrested after holding schoolchildren hostage for four hours.Masked French gendarmes detained a 17-year-old who took a class full of preschoolers hostage Monday, releasing all the children safely after hours of tense negotiations that drew nationwide attention."The hostage-taking is over," Jean-Marc Magda, aide to the mayor of the eastern French city of Besancon, told The Associated Press by telephone. All 20 children who had been taken hostage and their teacher were released safely, he said.The hostage-taker was detained, and remained inside the school with officers from a specialist gendarme force brought in to deal with the situation, Magda said. French television showed a wide-eyed girl being draped with a green blanket and carried away from the school. Police and worried families had surrounded the school since early in the day. The motives of the hostage-taker were unclear.Besancon Mayor Jean-Louis Fousseret said the teen had been treated for depression but had not taken his medication in recent days. The mayor did not confirm reports that the youth had requested a gun to commit suicide.The hostage-taker did not threaten the children and allowed them to go to the bathroom throughout the ordeal, Education Minister Luc Chatel said from the scene. The incident took place at the Charles Fourier preschool in Planoise, a neighborhood of housing projects with a big immigrant population on the western edge of Besancon.Planoise is one of the most deprived and troubled suburbs in France, and is officially classed as a 'sensitive urban zone'. Some 40 per cent of its under 25 year olds, who are predominantly from immigrant backgrounds, are unemployed. Removing any leverage that we had for insisting on more transparency and accountability in the bloated, corrupt UN bureaucracy, Obama decided to pay up all past amounts owed – hundreds of millions of dollars in arrears accumulated between 2005 and 2008. His administration has also opposed imposing conditions on payment of UN dues and pledges of voluntary contributions going forward.Moreover, the Obama administration decided that the United States should join, and thereby legitimize, perhaps the most morally bankrupt UN body of all - the radical Islamic-dominated United Nations Human Rights Council. From the WSJ:Some 42.9 million people collected food stamps last month, up 1.2% from the prior month and 16.2% higher than the same time a year ago, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.Nationwide 14% of the population relied on food stamps as of September but in some states the percentage was much higher. In Washington, D.C., Mississippi and Tennessee – the states with the largest share of citizens receiving benefits – more than a fifth of the population in each was collecting food stamps.With Obama signing the bill, it is noted that Democrats were not happy with the looting of the food stamp fund.Finally, with the Democrats refusing to bring the extension of the tax cuts to the House floor, which also includes unemployment benefits, more people can be expected to enroll in the food stamp program, but how will they pay for it?Hmmm...."Let them eat air"?Read the full story here.

"While CAIR is free to exercise its freedom of speech to criticize viewpoints with which it disagrees, [Lane Community College] is not free to breach a contract and censor viewpoints in the name of 'sensitivity' or political correctness," said a newly released letter from the American Center for Law and Justice. "For a biased and questionable group such as CAIR to willfully try to interfere with a contract and attempt to stifle First Amendment rights of any potential opposition is to be entirely expected. However, for a state institution to follow suit is not!" said the letter signed by CeCe Heil, senior counsel for the ACLJ. • Four Algerian Christians convicted for setting up a place of worship without a permit.Four Algerian Muslim converts to Christians were convicted for setting up an illegal place of worship in Kabylia, a region in the eastern part of the country. This is the first conviction of its kind in Algeria. Although it was suspended, the sentence ranges from two to three months in prison. Three of the men—Abdenour Raid, Nacer Mokrani and Idir Haoudj—got two months. The fourth man, Rev Mahmoud Yahou, was sentenced to three months in jail and a 1,000-dinar fine (US$ 125) for illegally sheltering a foreigner.The trial was held in Larbaa Nath Irathen, in Tizi Ouzou province. The Prosecutor had asked for a year for each of the accused, who range between 35 and 45 in age. In Algeria, a 2006 law requires that anyone who wants to set up a place of worship, whether for Muslims or non-Muslims, must obtain a permit, indicating the name of the place of worship as well as that of the preacher. But unlike previous war games in which Iran boasted of weapons advances, the latest maneuvers were largely held under wraps.The report by the IRNA news agency was the first public word that the maneuvers had been held, and even IRNA's confirmation came only indirectly. While convoy organizers try to position their action as solidarity with the Palestinian people under a unified umbrella of Asian countries, the convoy include militant activists that have been injured in the Marmara Gaza flotilla convoy. Considering the Marmara activists were armed and ready to attack IDF soldiers, these are not peaceful activists.The convoy set out from India to Pakistan and have now reached Iran. They plan to travel to the cities of Qom, Tehran, Zanjan, and Tabriz and then cross into Turkey.As they travel through Iran, motorcyclists waving the Hezbollah flag, the Palestinian flag and the Iranian flag escort them. A five-year-old girl with a pink placard that shows dismembered bodies and shouts “Death to Israel” is the center of attention. Americans were virtually split over whether the president should be reelected in two years, with opponents of Obama slightly edging supporters. Forty-five percent of U.S. adults said in a Bloomberg National Poll released Monday that Obama deserves to be ousted in 2012. Forty-two percent said the president deserves reelection, while 4 percent said that their decision depended on alternatives. • Ukraine feminists 'urinate' on all male cabinet.Dozens of Ukrainian feminists on Monday staged an unusual protest against the country's all-male cabinet, pretending to urinate to show the government had turned into nothing more than a men's room.The members of the Femen group -- known for its brazen feminist stunts -- squirted bottles of water and yellow liquid from their groins outside the government headquarters as a bemused line of police looked on."To urinate standing is not a privilege," said a banner held by one of the estimated 30 protesters. Erekat asks for recognition of Palestinian state, but ministers convening in Brussels expected to say EU 'will not recognize any changes to the pre-1967 borders, including with regard to Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the parties'.In light of the stalled peace negotiations with Israel, the Palestinians are working vigorously to garner international support for the establishment of an independent state.On Monday Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat addressed a written letter to the EU Foreign Policy chief Catherine Ashton, urging the European Union to recognize an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.Israel has been working diligently to try and soften the wording in the resolution. Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has spoken with a number of his counterparts in the Union to try and convince them not to recognize a Palestinian state, and he has also instructed Israeli ambassadors in EU countries to clarify Israel's position.Even prior to the announcement on the collapse of direct talks with Israel, the Palestinians threatened to ask the UN to recognize a Palestinian state unless the US convinces Israel to stop building in the settlements.Argentina and Brazil have already recognized a "free and independent" Palestinian state. On Monday Deputy FM Danny Ayalon told some 20 reporters from South America that a Palestinian state would not be established by "declarations in Buenos Aires or Brasilia, but by negotiations with the chosen government in Jerusalem." • Federal Judge to Rule on Health Law's Constitutionality .A Virginia federal judge is expected to rule Monday on whether the Obama administration's health law violates the Constitution, opening a new stage in the administration's defense of its biggest legislative achievement.The ruling by District Judge Henry E. Hudson is perhaps the most significant so far among a slew of state-based legal challenges to the law, which also faces attack by newly resurgent Republicans in Congress. More than 20 federal lawsuits have been filed against the health overhaul since President Barack Obama signed it in March. While the cases differ somewhat, they largely rest on the argument that Congress lacks constitutional authority to require most Americans to carry health insurance or pay a fee. The Obama administration counters that three clauses of the Constitution gave Congress the power to put the requirement, known as the individual mandate, in the law as part of regulating how people pay for health care.The Virginia challenge is led by that state's attorney general, Republican Ken Cuccinelli. Separately, U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson in Pensacola, Fla., on Thursday will hear arguments in a challenge brought by officials in 20 states. • Updated:Another Indian diplomat insulted at US airport.Close on the heels of the humiliating pat down of the Indian Ambassador to the US, Meera Shankar, at Mississipi airport it has now come to notice that another top Indian diplomat was also insulted by the American emigration officials recently.The Indian consulate in Houston has filed a formal complaint with the US state department over the incident. According to India's note verbale, their act was disrespect to the Sikh religion as turban is considered scared.External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna said, "We have taken it up with the US authorities and matter is at that stage. • 'I never knew my husband had become a terrorist': Wife of British suicide bomber tells of her 'devastation' over Stockholm attack.The wife of suicide bomber who was radicalised in Britain before carrying out a suicide bombing on a busy street in Sweden today spoke of her 'devastation'.Iraqi-born Taimour Abdulwahab Al-Abdaly, 28, blew up his car, then himself, in the capital Stockholm.And today it emerged he was thrown out of a Luton mosque for being too radical three years ago.A Swedish prosecutor said it was likely that Abdulwahab was wearing a bomb belt and was possibly on his way to a department store train station when the explosive detonated by accident.Abdulwahab spent much of the last decade in Luton – long known as a hotbed of terrorism – where he studied for a degree and continued living there with his wife Mona Thwany and three young children.Hmmm....Once again If he got trown out of the Mosque for being to radical,why did they not inform autorities?Sounds more like damage controll if you ask me?Read the full story here.

• Don King stopped trying to board passenger plane with bullets in his hand luggage.Boxing promoter Don King was caught trying to board a passenger plane with ammunition in his hand luggage, it was revealed this morning.King, 79, was stopped by security at Cleveland's Hopkins International Airport yesterday evening.Officers from the Transportation Safety Administration searched his bags aftef being alerted, according to a spokesman. King had ammunition for .38-caliber and .357-caliber hand guns in his bag.The bullets were confiscated and King was allowed to continue his trip to Florida. Today’s Vogue cover fodder: Alina Kabaeva, alleged mistress of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, graces the cover of Vogue Russia’s January 2011 issue. Scandal!Kabaeva is a 27-year-old retired rhythmic gymnast, having won two Olympic medals (as well as 18 world championship medals and 25 European championship medals). But most people in Russia know her as the girl who diddled Vlad.The January cover is the first for new Russian Vogue EIC Viktoria Davydova. She succeeded beloved editor Aliona Doletskaya, who may be taking over Dasha Zhukova’s now vacant top spot over at POP. Fashionista reports that readers are not at all pleased with Davydova’s cover pick, or the direction she is taking the mag. As one former fan wrote on The Fashion Spot: “What a downgrade, I am completely shocked and disappointed. What on earth were they thinking about when they picked this shot? Everything is just wrong about this cover and why Alina? I am so angry, I don’t even want to buy the magazine this month.”The cover does look rather amateur, and we’ve already seen that gold Balmain dress seven times. • And now for something completely different.Website Rates Students, Ignites Controversy.There is little doubt that college guys are checking out college girls and vice versa but a new website that allows Boston University students to rate each other online is raising questions about privacy and respect.The newly launched RateBU.com allows Boston University students to log on and vote for the hottest girl or guy on campus. The pictures are uploaded by students, many of them swiped from the online public domain. The site suggests using photos from Facebook.Creator Justin Doody, a BU sophomore, got the idea for the site from the movie The Social Network. The film is a drama about the creation of Facebook and how the founder, Mark Zuckerberg, brought the social networking site to fruition. In the movie Zuckerberg first creates a site dubbed Facemash which allows Harvard students to rate female students.Doody is shocked at how quickly the RateBU site gained popularity and media attention."If they put it on the internet then anything can happen," said Melanie who expects the controversy to end before too long. 'Forest ghoul' caught on camera in dead of night by a deer hunter.Because judging by footage from a hunting firm's website, this crouching phantom looks like Spider-Man has swung on to the set of the Blair Witch Project.A deer hunter in the U.S. posted a video said to feature the creature on the Wildgame Innovations website - and the piercing white eyes aren't the sort you would want to meet on a dark night.The hunter said he was lying in wait in the pitch black when a ghoulish spectre filled his sights.Its eyes glowing in the light of his torch, it leapt from the undergrowth and flashed a look at the camera before vanishing back into the bushes.Hmmm....."It's alive"?Read and see the full story here
