Because when it comes to stories like this one, I'm betting we've only seen the tip of the iceberg.The Obama 'Green Jobs' Scam That Redistributed Half-a-Billion Dollars to His Political Backers.Solyndra, Inc. was supposed to have showcased the effectiveness of the Obama administration’s stimulus and green jobs initiatives, but instead it has become the center of congressional attention for waste, fraud and abuse of such programs.According to a Feb. 17 letter signed by Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton, Michigan Republican, and Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Cliff Stearns, Florida Republican, to Energy Secretary Steven Chu, the Fremont, Calif.-based solar panel manufacturer should never have received a $535 million loan guarantee from the stimulus.*...The Energy Department estimated in a March 20, 2009 press release that the loan guarantee would create 3,000 construction jobs and a further 1,000 jobs after the plant opened... And President Barack Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden each personally showcased Solyndra as an example of how stimulus dollars were at work creating jobs, during appearances at the company over the course of the following year......Obama made similar claims in a May 26, 2010 speech at the plant, but the 1,000 jobs he and Biden touted in their respective speeches failed to materialize...Instead, Solyndra announced on Nov. 3 it planned to postpone expanding the plant, which put the taxpayers on the hook to the tune of $390.5 million taxpayers... It also announced that it no longer planned to hire the 1,000 workers that Obama and Biden had touted in their speeches and that it planned to close one of its older factories and planned to lay-off 135 temporary or contract workers and 40 full-time employees.A closer look at the company shows it has never turned a profit since it was founded in 2005... And Solyndra’s auditor declared that “the company has suffered recurring losses, negative cash flows since inception and has a net stockholders’ deficit that, among other factors, [that] raise substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a growing concern” in ... March 2010...A June 2010 Wall Street Journal report indicating that Solyndra’s majority owner, Oklahoma billionaire George Kaiser, was a major fundraiser for the 2008 Obama-Biden campaign...In other words, your kids and grandkids will be paying back that half-a-billion dollars (with interest) -- which was borrowed from the Chinese -- to pay off a huge Obama contributor (coincidentally).Hmmmm.......Thugocracy in motion.Read the full story here.

• Obama’s New EPA Rules Would Destroy Our Energy Sector.(EmergingCorruption).Half of America’s energy comes from coal-fired power plants but Obama’s new EPA rules would about destroy the coal industry driving our energy costs through the roof. That’s not all they would do, either.Even Paul Bedard of USNews says that Obama’s new EPA rules will “slam the coal industry so hard that hundreds of thousands of jobs will be lost.”Analysis by the National Economic Research Associates says that these two new EPA regulations would be “among the most expensive ever imposed by the agency on coal-fueled power plants, dramatically increasing electricity rates and natural gas prices and leading to substantial job losses,” and would cost the U.S. electric sector nearly $18 billion a year.It is likely that these estimates are low, too, as they are localized to America’s electric producers and does not take into account the ripple effects that would reach out far and wide across the country.This whole effort seems like just one more example of the anti-business, anti-growth, anti-capitalist agenda that Barack Obama has pursued with gusto since the day he became president. In fact, it is of a piece with the policies he said he’d implement when he was but a candidate in 2008.As John Hinderaker at Powerline notes: The cornerstone belief of American liberals is that the United States is too rich and too powerful. And, if you want to make America poorer and weaker, the easiest way to do so is by preventing the development of our energy resources. Such a policy hobbles our economy and causes massive transfers of wealth from the U.S. to other countries, many of which are hostile. Liberals think this is all to the good, but pretty much every other American disagrees.That’s right. Liberals and their leader, Obama, truly do want to cut America down to size, they want America laid low because in the liberal world view, the USA is an evil entity.Obama has not been able to implement his full load of destructive polices via Congress. That is why the largest portion of his attacks on America have been made through his powers to regulate. These EPA rules are just two more examples of the hundreds Obama has perpetrated on this country. • "Peacefull" Iran reveals underground ballistic missile silos.(JPost).Iran, in state TV broadcast, shows world its ability to protect missiles, secretly store them throughout the country.Iran unveiled underground ballistic missile silos for the first time on Monday in a warning to the world of its ability to protect its missiles and secretly store them in hidden locations throughout the country.State TV broadcast footage of several military officers touring an underground silo that was holding a Shahab 3 ballistic missile. The missile has a range of 2,000 kilometers, putting Israel within its reach, but is powered by liquid fuel, which means that it requires more considerable preparation immediately before launch than a solid rocket.The unveiling of underground missile silos was confirmation of Israeli and American warnings in recent years that Iran was dispersing its missiles in silos, likely scattered throughout the country.In the footage, a missile is shown being launched from inside one of the silos, which has large metal doors that open on the surface with the press of a button.Tal Inbar, head of the Space Research Center at the Fisher Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies, said the decision to release the video was likely an Iranian attempt to boost its deterrence vis-à-vis Israel and the West.“The silos look fairly sophisticated and by unveiling them, the Iranians are trying to show the world that their missiles are protected even if the country is attacked,” Inbar said. • Passengers on Audacity of Hope threaten to murder and throw acid on IDF soldiers.(IsraelMatzav).In a conversation with a senior IDF security source on Tuesday, I was told that passengers on the American ship Audacity of Hope said in a public gathering that they want to kill IDF soldiers. While the IDF had said previously that passengers on a ship wished to kill IDF soldiers, the ship had not been named.The same senior source repeated the story about passengers planning to throw sulfuric acid at IDF soldiers that was reported earlier.The organizations behind the flotilla have ties to Hamas. There are more than 30 organizations that are involved in the flotilla, some of whom are connected to Hamas and some of whom are connected to the Muslim Brotherhood.The IDF will be able to send video from sea this time and it is allowing 12 foreign journalists to come on the Navy ship. • Report: Turkey tells West it might launch offensive against Syria.(TodaysZaman).Turkish officials have told Western countries that Turkey might launch a military operation in Syria's north to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad's regime, a Kuwaiti newspaper reported on Monday.“Turkey informed Britain, France, Italy, Germany and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) leadership of the possibility that it would launch an offensive in … Aleppo, Homs, Hama and Latakia,” As-Seyassah daily quoted an unnamed British officials as saying, according to the Lebanese news website nowlebanon.com.The report comes amid fears of undesired confrontation between the Turkish and Syrian armies along the border. About 12,000 Syrians have fled their homes in northern towns and have taken refuge on the Turkish side of the border. The Syrian army is reportedly reinforcing troops near the Turkish border to prevent further inflows of refugees towards Turkey. The Turkish military is also reportedly considering reinforcing border troops. Senior Turkish commanders have recently traveled to the border province of Hatay to inspect the border area.“Turkish officials fear the possibility of the Syrian army committing mistakes on its borders, which might oblige the Turkish army to cross the Syrian border,” the Kuwaiti daily quoted a Lebanese diplomat in Ankara as saying. The Syrian government's brutal crackdown on anti-regime protesters has brought once-close Turkish-Syrian relations to a breaking point, with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan describing the Syrian response to protests as “savagery.”Earlier, a columnist for Lebanese daily al-Akhbar, said to be close to Hezbollah, claimed that Iran had threatened Turkey that if it were to be used as a platform for NATO action against Syria, then Iran would bomb US and NATO bases in Turkey.Hmmmmm........Seeing is believing.Read the full story here.
