From Brazil to Hurfeish: Meet the First-Ever Druze Lone Soldier.(IDF).The IDF currently has over 5,000 lone soldiers serving in its corps. Lone soldiers come from all over the world. There are French, English, American, Ethiopian, Russian, Canadian, Mexican, Australian and many, many others, but last week the IDF officially recognized the first-ever Druze lone soldier. Meet Pvt. Fadi Abad Alhallik:Fadi was born in Hurfeish, Israel, but in the fifth grade, he and his family moved to Brazil. Being raised in Brazil, he was not obligated to serve; however, just a few months shy of his 18th birthday, the IDF conscription age, Fadi decided to follow in his father and grandfather’s footsteps by making Aliyah to Israel and voluntarily serving in the army. “I didn’t want to be different and I wanted to do my part for the country” says Fadi.Read ans see (Video) the full story here.
