• Four of 19 large U.S. banks fail stress tests.(Rawstory).Citigroup was one of four large US banks that flunked stress tests aimed at seeing how they would hold up in a new economic crisis, Federal Reserve data showed Tuesday.Three others — Ally, Suntrust and MetLife — also failed the tests, while 15 other large bank holding companies passed the exercise, the Fed said.“Overall, four of the 19 BHCs have one or more projected regulatory capital ratios (including capital distributions) that fall below regulatory minimum levels at some point over the stress scenario horizon,” the Fed said.The Fed said the overall positive results for the 19, in the aggregate, “reflects a significant increase in capital during the past three years.Read the full story here.

• U.S. E-Voting System Cracked in Less Than 48 Hours.(H-Online).Researchers at the University of Michigan have reported that it took them only a short time to break through the security functions of a pilot project for online voting in Washington, D.C. "Within 48 hours of the system going live, we had gained near complete control of the election server", the researchers wrote in a paper that has now been released. "We successfully changed every vote and revealed almost every secret ballot." The hack was only discovered after about two business days – and most likely only because the intruders left a visible trail on purpose.The researchers conclude that it is generally difficult to build secure online voting systems. One small configuration or implementation error would undermine the entire voting process. Even if central servers were not used, which would be prime targets for hacking attempts, there would still be a number of other points of attack. Fundamental advances still need to be made in security, they say, before e-voting will truly be safe.Read the full story here.

• $55,500,000 !(AlexanderMunch).The 16-year-old girl, named as Amina Filali, ate rat poison after a Tangier court which was supposed to be punishing her 26-year-old attacker decided that they should instead be wed.This is because Moroccan laws exempt a rapist from punishment if he agrees to marry his victim.Traumatised by the rape and the forced marriage, Moroccan newspaper al-Massae said she committed suicide at her husband's house.Last year Afghan 21-year-old Gulnaz was jailed for 'adultery by force' after she was brutally raped by her husband's cousin.Her attacker was jailed for seven years for the crime that left her pregnant.A global outrage saw the President of Afghanistan personally pardoning her and releasing her from Kabul's Badam Bagh jail, with no pre-conditions.Just to clarify the bible on Deut 22:28-29, It states that the man is required to pay compensation (50 silver Shekels!) for the victim and MAY marry her!... (i.e. he has the option to ask for her hand in marriage should he chose to set things right - to some extent). Certainly different to suggesting that the woman is FORCED in any way to marry the man such as in the Amina Filali case.Read and see the full story here.

• Hundreds of Islamists attack village, molest Hindu women.(POS).The Hindu town of Madhyakolra, Domjur, in West Bengal, India, was attacked by approximately 600 Islamists on March 4, reports Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.Trouble began when four Muslim property developers arrived to have a pond covered over and construction work begun on the site. Local Hindus came out to protest. The four men -- Mohsin Mufti, Sheikh Khokon Dewan, Atiyar Mallik and Nurududdin Sardar -- allegedly returned to the neighboring Muslim-majority village.They then returned to Madhyakolra, reportedly with 600 Islamists, who attacked the village and molested many of the Hindu women there. Reports also suggest that Bangladeshi Muslims may have been involved in the large-scale attack. Domjur is approximately 100 km from India's border with Bangladesh.A Hindu-owned house destroyed in the attack. "Hindu women were [...] molested, manhandled and thrashed in large numbers," reports Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. Kolra Maitree Sangha, a local club known for its welfare work, was looted and destroyed.Read the full story here.
