Pakistani MPs still to decide on restoration of NATO supply lines: FM.(PTv).Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar says any decision about reopening NATO supply routes will be made by the country's lawmakers.She added that there is no hidden agreement between Islamabad and Washington over the issue. "Restoration of NATO supplies is in the interest of Pakistan. There is no hidden agreement behind the reopening of NATO routes. It will be done in accordance with the Parliamentary resolution," She said during an interview with a local TV on Wednesday. She said the issue of NATO supplies was not only related to Pakistan and the US but it was also linked to ties with 50 more nations. Addressing a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani also said that relations with NATO and US are at critical crossroads but his country would never compromise on its principal stance nor would it make emotional decisions. “Our relations with the United States and NATO are currently at a crucial turning point and we should take steps accordingly, keeping in view our geographical importance and national interests,” Gilani added. Top political opposition parties including Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), Jamaat-e-Islami, Defense Council of Pakistan, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) have warned government over possible resumption of NATO supplies. The warnings came amid speculations that Pakistani government is set to reopen the supply routes which were closed after 24 Pakistani soldiers were killed in US airstrikes in the northwest Pakistan in November, 2011. The incident strained ties between the US and Pakistan as Islamabad has called upon Washington to render an apology which it has refused to do so.Read the full story here.
