U.S. on alert for terrorists with bombs INSIDE their bodies on eve of anniversary of bin Laden's death.(DM).Security at airports in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East has been stepped up amid fears terrorists may be using bombs surgically implanted inside their bodies in attempt to blow up planes on the eve of Osama bin Laden's death, according to a new report. Officials are said to be taking precautions for a retaliatory attack by al Qaeda that would include drastic measures to circumvent body scanners.
According to ABC News, additional federal air marshals have been shifted overseas in preparation for the May 2 anniversary of bin Laden's death.
The report comes a nearly year after President Barack Obama announced on live television the former al Qaeda leader had been killed in a raid by U.S. Navy SEALS on a compound in Pakistan - a decision which outraged Pakistan's U.S.-backed civilian government and fanned anti-U.S. sentiment across the country.Earlier on Monday, White House counter-terrorism advisor John Brennan called the al Qaeda group in Yemen the greatest threat to the U.S. U.S. intelligence officials say Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri - chief bombmaker for the terrorist group - is said to have resurfaced recently in the region, after months in hiding following the death by drone strike of American-born firebrand AQAP cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.
