U.S. Pilot refuses to fly with Muslim passengers on board.
U.S. Pilot refuses to fly with Muslim passengers on board.(Netglobers).By Edward Leeron. Two Muslim men were forced to disembark from their scheduled Delta Airlines flight in the U.S. after the pilot refused to fly with them onboard, reports AOL. The religious leaders, known as imams, were planning to travel from Memphis, Tennessee, to Charlotte, North Carolina, and were already onboard the aircraft when the pilot decided to ground the flight. The plane had left the terminal and was approaching the runway when the captain issued instructions that the imams were to be escorted off the aircraft for fear of making other passengers uncomfortable. "It's racism and bias because of our religion and appearance and because of misinformation about our religion," Masudur Rahman, who is an instructor of Arabic at the University of Memphis, told the news source. "If they understood Islam, they wouldn't do this." A spokesperson for Delta claimed the flight was operated by Atlantic Southeast Airlines. Initial attempts to resolve the situation were thwarted by the pilot, who allegedly refused to cooperate. According to Reuters, Rahman and his traveling companion Mohamed Zaghloul, an imam at the Islamic Association of Greater Memphis, were flying to the annual North American imams conference where they were scheduled to lead the gathering in prayer. Themes due to be discussed at the event included Islamophobia and discrimination against North American muslims.Hmmm....The pilot could use "The Djinn made me do it" defense?Read the full story here.Read the full story here.
