Iran - Opening of US trade mission in Tehran possible under certain conditions
Opening of US trade mission in Tehran possible under certain conditions. (Taz).
The issue of opening of the US trade mission in Tehran and an Iranian trade mission in Washington depends on the results of the discussions between Iran and the P5+1 countries, the head of the World Trade Center of Tehran Mohammad Reza Sabzalipour told Trend on Nov.11.
He confirmed that two years ago there were held negotiations on the mutual opening of Iranian and US trade missions.
“The information spread by The Times newspaper is untrue. The report according to which this meeting is being held in Baku on the eve of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Azerbaijan is untrue as well,” he said.
“But I would like to emphasize that two years ago a delegation led by me left for the US and the issue of mutual opening of US and Iranian trade missions was then on the agenda,” Sabzalipour added.
He said the mutual opening of the US and Iranian trade missions will be impossible unless Iran and P5+1 countries reach a long-term and comprehensive agreement.
Sabzalipour added that the mutual visits of Iranian and US entrepreneurs are on the agenda of the World Trade Center of Tehran and such visits will be organized when convenient.
Sabzalipour said he doesn’t know which source The Times newspaper cited while publishing this information.
He said the newspaper is expected to spread true information, adding that apparently, someone combined several old news and drew wrong conclusions.
The Times newspaper earlier spread information about holding of secret talks between Iran and the US in Baku.
The head of the World Trade Center of Tehran Mohammad Reza Sabzalipour denied this information, saying that it is untrue.
“The information spread by The Times newspaper about holding secret negotiations between Iran and the US in Baku is untrue,’ he earlier told Trend.
