Iran asked the UAE to seize and hand over a Singapore-flagged cargo ship that the Iranian navy had fired shots across the bow on Tuesday.

The director of South Pars Phase 13 consortium told Shana on May 15, "the neighbor countries should cooperate with Iran to detain the Singapore-flagged cargo ship which had damaged Iran's facilities in this phase".

A U.S. official told CNN on Thursday, "five Iranian boats fired shots across the bow of a Singapore-flagged cargo vessel in the international waters of the Gulf, but then the cargo vessel turned to the national waters of the United Arab Emirates and was protected by its coast guard.

Habii said the Singapore-flagged cargo ship, belongs to Norwegian Transpetrol collided with platform of phase 13 on March and damaged it. Iran has filed a complaint against this company to take compensation and asked the UAE to seize and hand over the cargo to Iran.

The accident left $300 million damage on platform according to Habii.

Iran recently intercepted a Marshall Islands-flagged vessel in the Strait of Hormuz as well. It forced that ship into Iranian territorial waters by firing shots across its bow.
