Russia to start supplies of President-S onboard defense system to Egypt this year. (Tass).
Russia will start the supplies of the onboard defense system President-S to Egypt in 2016, the CEO of the Radioelectronic Technologies concern (affiliated with the corporation Rostec), Igor Nasenkov, has told the media.
"The supplies will begin in the near future, within a matter of weeks," Nasenkov told the Radioelectronic Technologies’ board meeting.
The contract with Egypt for the supply of the President-S onboard defense system was concluded last year. The number of systems to be provided was not disclosed.
President-S provides individual protection for military and civilian planes and helicopters from aircraft-born and air defense missile complexes and also ground and sea-based air defense artillery. President-S is installed on Ka-52 and Mi-28 and Mi-26 helicopters.
President-S is capable of identifying attack threats against the protected aircraft from enemy fighter-planes, and air defense and artillery complexes. It is capable of hitting and suppressing optical homing systems of aircraft-launched and air defense missiles, including the homing systems of portable air defense systems.
