US Support for Terrorists Hinders Eradication of Terrorism: Iran’s Leader Khamenei. (AW).

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the United States provides financial and arms support for terrorist groups thus hindering eradication of terrorism.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks on Tuesday in Tehran during a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

“There is credible and accurate information on how the United States is assisting ISIS and certain other terrorist groups. Even now that they have formed a [so-called] anti-ISIS coalition certain American organs are helping ISIS in a way or other.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei criticized visits by European delegations to Iran for not yielding tangible and practical results. He emphasized that Iran must be able to feel the outcome of such visits.

“Some European governments and companies have been visiting Iran and are in talks [with Iran], but the results of these negotiations are not yet been tangible,” the Leader said.

“Certain shift the blame for this issue onto the Americans, which seems to be an acceptable assessment given their (Americans’) track record and behavior,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding, “As even now they (the Americans) are not acting as they should in fulfilling their obligations [made] throughout the nuclear talks [with Iran] and they scare the opposite parties away from cooperating with Iran through their remarks and actions.”

The Leader pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran views Italy positively, noting that Iran does not view “certain European countries” positively because of being obedient to the US.

Ayatollah Khamenei said Iran and Italy can cooperate in combating terrorism. “A number of European countries used to support certain violent terrorist groups for some time and today the dangerous and overarching wave of terrorism has reached Europe too,” the Leader added.


“Iran views Italy and cooperation with other European countries in a positive light, and hope that this visit would bolster this view; Italian behavior during the era of imposed sanctions had been more rational than other Europeans,” emphasized the Leader. Ayatollah Khamenei said that Iran welcomes expansion of all-out ties with Italy particularly in the economic sector.
