"Indeed No Resemblance between Muslims’ Islam, and Saudi Wahhabism". Iran FM Zarif.
"Indeed No Resemblance between Muslims’ Islam, and Saudi Wahhabism". Iran FM Zarif. (IFP).
“Indeed; no resemblance between Islam of Iranians & most Muslims and the bigoted extremism that Wahhabi top cleric & Saudi terror masters preach,” Zarif said in a message posted on his Twitter account on Tuesday.
The remark by the Iranian foreign minister came in response to Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al ash-Sheikh saying that Iranians were not Muslims.
The Wahhabi Mufti made the remarks after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei strongly criticized “murderous” Saudi rulers over last year’s deadly Mina crush, which claimed the lives of over 4,700 pilgrims, including 465 Iranians.
“Several thousand families from different countries lost their loved ones and their nations were bereaved. From the Islamic Republic, close to five hundred people were among the martyrs. The hearts of their families are still broken and bereaved and our people remain grief-stricken and angry,” the Leader said.
“Instead of apology and remorse and judicial prosecution of those who were directly at fault in that horrifying event, Saudi rulers- with utmost shamelessness and insolence- refused to allow the formation of an international Islamic fact-finding committee.”

H1N1 cases in Saudi Arabia kept silent to avoid panic among haj pilgrims.(GD).Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (4E) – Saudi health authorities reported at least eight cases of H1N1 infections at the Al-Amal mental hospital in Riyadh.
The infected people were given Tamiflu vaccine while 27 other people, including four nurses, suspected of having the influenza virus were quarantined. Staff of the hospital also took precautionary measures, including wearing masks when dealing with patients, and cancelling an party celebrating the Eid al-Adha Muslim festival.
The latest H1N1 outbreak in the kingdom was discovered 18 days ago but was not disclosed to avoid panic among haj pilgrims according to spokesman of Health Affairs Directorate in Riyadh Saad Al Qahtani. The virus first reached Saudi Arabia in 2009 brought by an infected Filipino nurse working at King Faisal Specialized Hospital. Last month, a Saudi boy vacationing with his family in Hong Kong was diagnosed with the virus but recovered. In September, a 60-year-old Saudi man died from the virus and a 49-year-old Qatari man was infected with it after traveling to the kingdom. The Qatari man has recovered after being treated in a hospital in London.Read the full story here.

The Saudis have spoiled Mecca – but the British Museum doesn’t want you to know.

The Saudis have spoiled Mecca – but the British Museum doesn’t want you to know.(TheTelegraph).BY Will Heaven.Go to the British Museum’s Hajj exhibition if you want a close-up look at Egyptian textiles and medieval Turkish manuscripts.
But if you want to find out the truth about Mecca, and specifically how the Saudis have destroyed and spoiled some of the holiest sites in the Islamic world, you’d be better off staying at home to read this jaw-dropping article in the New Yorker by Basharat Peer.
Here’s what the British Museum didn’t let on in its blockbuster exhibition, which I visited last month.
Looming large over the Grand Mosque and the Kaaba (the black cube-shaped building that is the holiest site in Islam) is the largest and second tallest building in the world, called the Royal Mecca Clock Tower complex.
You can’t miss it (see pic above) – unless, it seems, you’re a British Museum curator. The 2,000-foot hotel certainly didn’t feature in the exhibition.
Peer, a recent pilgrim to Mecca himself, writes with disdain: “When I walked along the western wall of the Kaaba, the Clock Tower felt like a concrete djinn staring down at me, dwarfing the mosque. Filled with resentment, I lowered my head in anticipation on each circumambulation.”
When he enters the Clock Tower complex, he discovers it has the feel of “the duty-free section of the Dubai airport”.
“The ground floor is devoted to retailers: stores that sell alcohol-free perfume, prayer mats, and Hajj memorabilia, British and Italian clothing boutiques; luggage shops filled with Samsonite travel bags and Prada totes…”No wonder some Muslims feel so at home in Harrods.
And the situation in Mecca is worsening: Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah plans to redevelop the centre of the holy city into “high-rises and shopping malls”. Mecca's mayor, Osama al-Bar, justifies all this by saying that “a tower is very much like a mountain in its height”. Never before have "mountains" looked so garish and distressingly ugly.Read the full story here.
