- U.N. panel cuts gay reference from violence measure.Arab and African nations succeeded Tuesday in getting a U.N. General Assembly panel to delete from a resolution condemning unjustified executions a specific reference to killings due to sexual orientation.Western delegations expressed disappointment in the human rights committee's vote to remove the reference to slayings due to sexual orientation from the resolution on extrajudicial, summary and arbitrary executions."The subject of this amendment -- the need for prompt and thorough investigations of all killing, including those committed for ... sexual orientation -- exists in this resolution simply because it is a continuing cause for concern," a British statement to the committee said."It's a step backwards and it's extremely disappointing that some countries felt the need to remove the reference to sexual orientation, when sexual orientation is the very reason why so many people around the world have been subjected to violence," said Philippe Bolopion of Human Rights Watch.Hmmmm...the United Islamic Nations are emerging and Human Rights are being raped, time to leave the U.N. and count your losses.Read the full

- The Islamic insurgency in Dagestan.A senior Russian official has told the BBC that Islamic terrorists with links to Al Qaeda are trying to "tear the whole of the North Caucasus away from Russia".The President of Dagestan, Russia's most restless republic, said that insurgents wanted to turn the whole region into an Islamic state. In recent months Dagestan - which neighbours Chechnya - has become the epicentre of violence in the Caucasus with almost daily shootings, bombings and kidnapping.Islam the religion of peace.Read the full story here.
- HT:RightsideNews.Napolitano: The Ball’s in My Court Now.After the 9/11 attacks, when 19 Muslim terrorists — 15 from Saudi Arabia, two from the United Arab Emirates and one each from Egypt and Lebanon, 14 with “al” in their names — took over commercial aircraft with box-cutters, the government banned sharp objects from planes.Airport security began confiscating little old ladies’ knitting needles and breaking the mouse-sized nail files off of passengers’ nail clippers. Surprisingly, no decrease in the number of hijacking attempts by little old ladies and manicurists was noted.Only because the terrorists are Muslims do we pretend not to notice who keeps trying to blow up our planes. It would be harder to find Swedes or Irish boarding commercial airliners in the U.S. than Muslims. If the government did nothing more than have a five-minute conversation with the one passenger per flight born outside the U.S., you’d need 90 percent fewer Transportation Security Administration agents and airlines would be far safer than they are now.Instead, Napolitano just keeps ordering more invasive searches of all passengers, without exception — except members of Congress and government officials, who get VIP treatment, so they never know what she’s doing to the rest of us.Two weeks ago, Napolitano ordered TSA agents to start groping women’s breasts and all passengers’ genitalia — children, nuns and rape victims, everyone except government officials and members of Congress. (Which is weird because Dennis Kucinich would like it.)Please have your genitalia out and ready to be fondled when you approach the security checkpoint.”It is becoming increasingly obvious that we need to keep the government as far away from airport security as possible, and not only because Janet Napolitano did her graduate work in North Korea.Hmmm.....then one day you wake up and realise you're living in a giant Gulag?Read the full story here.
- Transmissions from a Lone Star: Whatever happened to the Fort Hood shooter? After living here for four years, American culture still seems LOUD. Cable TV abounds with angry heads yelling at each other, while radio and the Internet are flooded with toxic invective. Waiting at the traffic lights I am frequently instructed by bumper stickers what position I ought to take on abortion; whether to spay and neuter my cat; and who I should have voted for six years ago. This openness can be thrilling or exhausting. It’s never boring. There are, however, significant taboos. A public figure can end his career instantly if he uses the wrong language when discussing race. Immigration is another issue it is best to tread lightly around. And then there is radical Islam: you know, men with bombs in their skivvies, or beardy types planting bombs on Times Square. Nothing is a buzz-kill for the American media like this stuff. Sure, they enjoy the thrill of the scare. But nobody wants to talk about the ideas that inspire the bombs from terror of inadvertently saying something offensive about Islam.Recently a British friend asked me about the “alleged” Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist who opened fire on a military base in Texas a year ago, killing 13 and wounding many others. “What’s going on with him?” he asked.“I don’t know,” I replied, which immediately struck me as bizarre. It was the worst massacre ever carried out on a U.S. military base, and the first act of terror performed on American soil by a native jihad. Up until this point, American commentators had been rather smug about the possibility of homegrown Islamist terror. That’s a European problem, they said. American Muslims are better integrated. Yet Hasan was born, raised and educated in the United States. He had business cards that read “Soldier of Allah” - a nice, professional touch. He was in short, an American success story - right up to point when he started killing Americans.Read the full

- HT:TheJawaReport.WashTimes: Homeland Security adviser Mohamed Elibiary behind TSA hijab exemption?Note to terrorists: Next time, wear a hijab.DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano appointed Mohamed Elibiary to her Homeland Security Advisory Council last month. The Department of Homeland Security reportedly is giving special exemptions to their "enhanced pat-down" policy to Muslim women wearing the hijab or other form-concealing garments.Exemptions for Muslim women wearing traditional garb may be the brainchild of Mohamed Elibiary, who recently was made a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council. Mr. Elibiary is president and chief executive officer of the Texas-based Freedom and Justice Foundation and a self-styled "de-radicalization expert" whose star has risen during the Obama presidency. He previously was appointed to Homeland Security's Countering Violent Extremism Working Group and has testified before Congress as an expert on Muslim radicalism - a topic he seems to know well.In December 2004, Mr. Elibiary spoke at a conference honoring the life and works of the "great Islamic visionary," Iran's Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. In 2008, Mr. Elibiary denounced the conviction of Hamas-connected members of the Holy Land Foundation for material support of terrorism. Most alarmingly, Mr. Elibiary is an admirer of the work of Sayyid Qutb, the intellectual and spiritual godfather of modern jihadism. Mr. Elibiary argues that Qutb is greatly misunderstood. "Many Westerners who've read Qutb's and many others' work," Mr. Elibiary wrote, "see the potential for a strong spiritual rebirth that's truly ecumenical allowing all faiths practiced in America to enrich us and motivate us to serve God better by serving our fellow man more."No one who has read Qutb's work can mistake it for anything but an all-out assault on the American way of life and a call for a global Islamic takeover. The 9/11 Commission noted Qutb's role as an inspiration to al Qaeda and concluded that, "No middle ground exists in what Qutb conceived as a struggle between God and Satan. All Muslims - as he defined them - therefore must take up arms in this fight. Any Muslim who rejects his ideas is just one more nonbeliever worthy of destruction." Qutb - who lived in the United States as a student in the late 1940s - developed a comprehensive anti-American ideology that's widely cited as the basis for the contemporary violent Islamic extremism with which America is at war.Qutb promoted violent, predatory Islamic internationalism with a clear voice. If Mr. Elibiary is one of his disciples, he has no business being anywhere in government, let alone as an adviser at the uppermost reaches of an agency that purports to protect the homeland.Hmmm....it's becoming obvious that America is being taken over by the enemy within, congress must act now before it's too late.Read the full story here.

Greenfield was joined by Council Members Gale Brewer, Fernando Cabrera, Debi Rose, Robert Jackson, Jumaane Williams, and Brad Lander in support of legislation that would ban the use of full body scanners in New York City, including New York’s two airports – JFK International Airport and LaGuardia Airport. - Report: U.S. Sends Battle Tanks to Afghanistan. In a move signaling a major escalation in the offensive against the Taliban, the U.S. military reportedly is deploying heavily armored battle tanks to Afghanistan for the first time in the nine-year war.The company of M1 Abrams tanks, each weighing in at 68 tons and propelled by jet engine, are equipped with 120mm guns that can destroy a house from more than a mile away, The Washington Post reported Friday, citing unnamed U.S. officials."The tanks bring awe, shock and firepower," an officer familiar with the tanks told the Post. "It's pretty significant. The tanks will initially be used by Marines engaged in an intense firefight with Taliban cells in the country's southwest province of Helmand, the newspaper said, giving American ground forces the power to target insurgents with a longer range and more lethal punch than from any other U.S. military vehicle."We've taken the gloves off, and it has had huge impact," one senior official told the paper.Read the full story here.
- UN 'deeply concerned' about Iran rights.General Assembly's human rights committee votes 80-44 to underscore its worries about Islamic Republic's use of flogging, stoning and amputations as punishment. The United Nations General Assembly's human rights committee expressed "deep concern" Thursday about Iran's use of flogging, stoning and amputations as punishment in an annual review of the rights situation in several countries worldwide. The committee voted 80-44 with 57 abstentions to underscore its worries about continued rights violations in Iran. It was a more resounding vote than last year, when the committee voted 74-48 on a similar resolution, with 59 members abstaining. In a statement issued from her headquarters outside Paris, Rajavi nevertheless called the vote "an indication of a global consensus against the religious fascism ruling Iran." She called on countries to suppress trade and relations with Iran until its human rights situation improves. The resolution, the 23rd such condemnation of Iran since 1985, "leaves no doubt that the world remains deeply concerned with Iran's continued human rights violations," said Bani Dugal, representative of the Baha'i International Community.Hmmmm....now guess who were the 57 abstaining and who were the 44 pro Iran votes, anyone has a clue about their religion?Read the full story here.
- HT:DougRoss.Remember Obama's 'Civilian National Security Force'? Soros Puppet Podesta Pitches Use of Armed Force to 'Advance Progressive Change'.John Podesta, one of Barack Obama's key 2008 campaign advisers, has laid the "D" card on the table. No, not "depression". We've already got that.I'm talking about a de facto "dictatorship". Bypassing the will of the people -- as if that hasn't happened enough in the last two years -- through a set of unconstitutional Czars and the administrative state. And armed force, if necessary, according to Podesta.Oh, Doug -- that's so controversial.Fine. If it's not a dictatorship, please tell me what you would call the form of government that Podesta calls for?Because it's certainly not a representative republic nor Constitutional in any way.The U.S. Constitution and the laws of our nation grant the president significant authority to make and implement policy... The ability of President Obama to accomplish important change through these powers [including executive orders and armed forces] should not be underestimated [in] continuing to make progress. In Barack Obama’s July 2, 2008 speech calling America to national service, Obama proposed “a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded” as our military... This has prompted some in the blogosphere to raise the specter of a huge new domestic paramilitary organization...[Obama said] "We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."Curiously, the official transcript of the speech omitted those last two sentences. After the last two years, can there be any real doubt as to what Obama meant? The Left used to enjoy calling Bush a fascist, but the closest thing we've ever had to a dictator -- from the iconography to the vicious language to the unconstitutional power-grabs -- is Barack Obama.Hmmmm....The President who calls American patriots ennemies.Read the full story here.
- HT:TheAmericanDream.Senator Rockefeller To TSA Chief John Pistole: “I Think You’re Doing A Terrific Job”.The backlash against new TSA airport screening procedures has reached a deafening crescendo, and so you would think that the politicians in Washington D.C. would be getting the message. But so far, most of them seem to be just as supportive of the TSA as ever. For example, what did the chairman of the Senate committee overseeing air travel, Jay Rockefeller, have to say to TSA chief John Pistole during a Senate hearing on these new security procedures the other day? "I Think You're Doing A Terrific Job." Yes, you read that correctly. Senator Rockefeller had nothing but praise for Pistole and the new screening procedures. Apparently Rockefeller thinks that TSA officials feeling up the genitals of U.S. air travelers with the fronts of their hands is a wonderful thing. It is even being reported that in some instances TSA officials are actually reaching down the pants of men and up the skirts of women during these enhanced pat-downs. Not only is this totally criminal, but considering the fact that TSA officials do this countless times without changing their gloves it is also a serious health hazard. But most of our "leaders" in Washington D.C. continue to insist that we should stop protesting because this is all being done "for our own good".But should we expect anything less from elitists such as Rockefeller? This is the same guy who is publicly talking about how wonderful it would be if the FCC would just go in and shut down Fox News and MSNBC. He also has publicly expressed his belief that we would probably be "better off" if the Internet had never been invented. Obviously Rockefeller is not a big fan of freedom of expression. But it is not just Rockefeller that is applauding these new TSA security procedures.Read the full story here.
- Indonesia maid 'killed in Saudi Arabia'.Indonesia has demanded an inquiry into reports that a maid working in Saudi Arabia was killed by her employers and her body dumped in a bin. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said a team had been sent to the Saudi town of Abha to investigate reports of the murder of 36-year-old Kikim Komalasari. It comes as officials arrived in Saudi to follow up claims of torture against a second Indonesian maid.Sumiati Binti Salan Mustapa is recovering in hospital in Medina. Her injuries include gashes to her face and cuts to her lips, allegedly inflicted by her employers using scissors. She was also burned with an iron, officials say.Indonesia's president has demanded justice for the "extraordinary torture".Indonesian media reported on Thursday that the Saudi Arabian government had arrested the female employer of Sumiati, and apologised for her treatment. The Saudi Labour Ministry has in the past acknowledged some problems, but the government also says foreign workers' rights are protected under Islamic law.Hmmm......welcome to A.D.620 ...lets see how that works out?Read the full

- Nineteen is the Number to Watch as UN Committee Prepares to Vote on Religious ‘Defamation’.As a U.N. General Assembly committee prepares to vote on a controversial religious “defamation” resolution – possibly as early as Friday – critics will be keen to see how successful their lobbying against the Islamic-led initiative has been.Nineteen will be the number to better. That was the margin of difference between countries voting for and against the resolution in 2009. The result then was 80-61 in favor of the resolution, with 42 abstentions.Any margin smaller than 19 this year will be welcome by opponents, although an outright defeat of the measure is the ultimate goal. The OIC, a bloc of 56 countries, argues that Islam and its teachings, symbols and prophetic figures are being denigrated by non-Muslims as a result of ignorance, prejudice or fear, especially over the period since 9/11.In a recent report the democracy watchdog Freedom House said that blasphemy laws are “responsible for broad violations of human rights, particularly when applied in weak democracies and authoritarian systems.”Read the full story here.

- HT:Imra.Iranian guidance systems gives Hizbullah and Syria aerial supremacy without even having aircraft.Israeli general: Iran has equipped proxy's rockets with guidance systems.JERUSALEM — Iran has significantly enhanced its rocket arsenal.Officials and analysts said Iran and its allies in the Middle East have converted their unguided rockets into guided weapons. They said the conversion has transformed the rocket arsenals of Hamas, Hizbullah, Iran and Syria from what was termed a terror threat to a military threat."We are facing a significant leap in the projectile capability," Brig. Gen. Doron Gavish, chief of the Air Defense Command, said."The enemy has achieved aerial supremacy without even having aircraft," Uzi Rubin, former head of the Israel Missile Defense Organization, said.Rubin, regarded as a leading consultant on ballistic missiles, cited Iran's new rockets, which have been exported to Hizbullah and Syria. He said Iran's Fateh-110 rocket, with an enhanced range of 300 kilometers, has become fully-guided."There is guidance from launch, maybe throughout the entire flight," Rubin said.As a result, officials and analysts said, Iran's new rockets could have a circle error of probability of up to 200 meters at a range of 90 kilometers. They said this would enable Hizbullah and Syria to strike Israeli critical facilities with dozens rather than hundreds of rockets.Rubin said Hizbullah and Syria have accumulated 13,000 missiles and rockets that could hit targets from Israel's northern border to the southern city of Beersheba. Of those weapons, he said, 1,500 warheads could strike the Tel Aviv area. Hamas has also acquired rockets with a range to hit Tel Aviv."This is a revolution," Rubin said.Officials said the new Iranian capability would force Israel to revise its missile defense doctrine. They said Israel was expected to deploy its multi-layered system by 2015."The new missile threat requires a revision of doctrine, and IMDO and the defense industries are working on this," Capt. Guy Aviram, a senior official in IMDO, said.Read the full story here.
- And now for something completely different!Attack of the rats !The local farmers call it a flood; an inundation that happens every 50 years.Others believe it to be an act of God, an inevitability. It isn't water flooding the precious farmland in north-eastern India, but rats. A once in a generation, gigantic plague of rats, that ruins crops and leaves people starving. A rat army so big, so mythical, that until now some scientists did not believe it was real. This explosion in the rodent population, leading to swarms of hungry pests, is caused by a glut in the food supply, namely bamboo seeds, researchers have confirmed. And it is a perfect example of how the simple relationship between two apparently innocuous species, a tall grass and a tiny rodent, can turn the ecology of a whole region upside down: wiping out wildlife, destroying agriculture and leaving people destitute. Worse, scientists suspect that climate change may create even bigger rat armies in the future.Read the full story here.

- ZOA: It's Troubling To See Jewish Leaders Defend Israel/U.S. Basher George Soros Against Glenn Beck's Criticism. The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has expressed its concern over the strong criticism that a number of American Jewish leaders and other prominent Jews in recent days have directed at Fox broadcaster, Glenn Beck, for his criticism of Israel/U.S.-basher, financier George Soros, regarding his behavior in Nazi-occupied Budapest in 1944.In that year, George Soros’ father obtained forged papers and bribed a government official to save his son, George, then 14 years old, by taking him in as his alleged godson under a falsified Christian identity. In this capacity, George Soros accompanied his fake godfather on his appointed rounds as a government official, confiscating property from Jews who were to be deported to their deaths in Auschwitz. George Soros later said that he felt no guilt, remorse or difficulty whatsoever for being in this situation. In fact, he wrote in a forward to his father’s book, “these ten months [of the Nazi occupation] were the happiest times of my life ... We led an adventurous life and we had fun together.”“It is also readily apparent that George Soros shows a callous, indeed, chilling lack of human empathy for the unspeakable fate of his Jewish brethren in Hungary which he witnessed first-hand. This is noteworthy, because this lack of empathy is also remarkably rare among those who witnessed the Holocaust but were lucky enough to have survived it. “I, myself, am the son of Holocaust survivors who met in a German Displaced Persons camp, where I was born. I know from personal knowledge that my father, whose parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and all eight siblings were murdered by the Nazis, felt constant pangs of guilt about having survived while his family, friends, Jewish neighbors and Jewish brethren were murdered by the millions. Obviously, he bore no moral responsibility at all but, like other survivors, could not escape feelings of guilt, for being the sole survivor, which haunted and plagued my father till the end of his life. As attested to, many times, by clinicians who have studied Holocaust survivors, it is a normal, understandable reaction of those in such situations. It is deeply chilling that Mr. Soros never felt any grief, horror, or guilt over the loss of so much of his Jewish brethren and comfortably proclaims such.“In light of Soros’ hatred of Israel and the United States; his continuous efforts to harm them; the absence of any subsequent remorse and feeling as an adult over the events he witnesses in Nazi-occupied Hungary as a 14-year old; as well as the fact that Glenn Beck’s comments were essentially accurate, George Soros merits no defense or sympathy from Jewish leaders. We are truly puzzled that some Jewish leaders have chosen to defend this and other Israel-bashers from their critics.”Read the full story here. HT:BarenakedIslam.
- HT:DanielGreenfield.Obama’s Jerusalem Apartheid. When Obama attacked Israel for building housing on Jewish owned land in Jerusalem, he was doing more than just pandering to his Muslim hosts with an obligatory dose of Israel bashing. He was diving once again into the ugly pool of bigotry, that first surfaced when he used Joe Biden as a proxy to launch a hate campaign against Israel over the same issue back in March. And what it comes down to is Apartheid. Plain and simple.Obama does not object to Arab Muslims living in Jerusalem. He objects only to Jews living in Jerusalem. The issue is not about “Israelis”, as the media likes to present it, because Jerusalem Arabs and Jews are all citizens of Israel. What distinguishes them is race and religion. What does one call a situation in which one race is permitted to build houses, but another is not? What else but Apartheid. Obama and the EU are not making this distinction based on citizenship. They are making it based on race and religion. While accusing Israel of doing the same.We exist now in a land beyond history. A state of being adrift from fact and reason, governed not by historical events or realities, but hate and fear. By the Muslim hatred of the Jews. And civilization’s fear of Islam. In the face of that hate and fear, words have lost their meanings and laws have lost their force. There is only the panicked imperative to appease the murderers of one’s own country, with the land and freedom of others. To satiate the crocodile with another’s flesh. This is not about peace. It is not about fair negotiations. It is not about being an equal partner. It is about the same thing as in the UK or Australia or Canada or India. It is about giving Muslims what they want, at the expense of non-Muslims in the hopes of preventing Muslim violence. It’s about Apartheid. What's the next step reinstate Jewish ghetto's?Read the full story here.
- Sanford Airport to opt out of TSA screening. The backlash continues over those new TSA screening measures, and now one Central Florida airport has decided to go with a private security screening firm.Orlando Sanford International Airport has decided to opt out from TSA screening."All of our due diligence shows it's the way to go," said Larry Dale, the director of the Sanford Airport Authority. "You're going to get better service at a better price and more accountability and better customer service."Dale says he will be sending a letter requesting to opt out from TSA screening, and instead the airport will choose one of the five approved private screening companies to take over.Congressman John Mica, who's expected to lead the powerful Transportation Committee next year, says the TSA is crying out for reform."I think TSA is overstepping its bounds," said Mica.Dale says, if all goes as planned, the private security firm could take over in about 12 months.Hmmm...someone please give the man a cigar!Read the full story here.
- Most Americans say Obama's religious beliefs different than their own.A majority of Americans say that President Barack Obama's religious beliefs are either somewhat different or very different than their own, a poll on religion and the recent elections found. The poll report, by the Public Religion Research Institute, identified Obama's religion "dilemma," as the institute called it, as one of three significant emerging religious issues to watch toward the 2012 election cycle.Another trend identified by the survey was that overall, Americans are almost evenly split on whether the values of Islam are compatible with American values. A majority of Republicans and Tea Party supporters said that Islam is at odds with American values. A majority of Democrats and Independents disagreed.Hmmmm...."They don't trust me because of my middle name or because i keep repeating that Islam is a great religion"?Read the full story here.
- Napolitano considering allowing Muslim women to pat themselves down at Airports! With the holidays fast approaching, the Transportation Safety Agency has announced new security procedures requiring passengers selected for secondary screening to go through a machine that produces a full body scan producing a nude but grainy, black and white image. Passengers choosing to opt out of the scan will face a full body pat.The head of Homeland Security has indicated the government is considering the request of an Islamic organization that has suggested Muslim women be allowed to pat themselves down during a full body search that is part of new enhanced procedures at airports.John Whitehead, president of the Rutherford Institute, said the regulations came straight from the President himself. In a recent commentary Whitehead said “legislation has been proposed to mandate full-body scanners and make them the primary screening method in all U.S. airports by 2013, but Congress has yet to act on it. So we can thank Barack Obama for this frontal assault on our Fourth Amendment rights.” He went on to say “Yet in the wake of the bumbling underwear bomber’s botched Christmas Day attempt to blow up a Detroit-bound plane, Obama directed the Homeland Security Department to acquire $1 billion in advanced-technology equipment, including body scanners, for screening passengers at airports.”The machines have been purchased from California based Rapiscan Systems. The company is a client of the Chertoff Group, a security consulting agency headed by former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff who has lobbied for the need for installing the machines in airports.Hmmm...if they allow exemptions for Muslims ,then all other religions are being profiled !Read the full story here.
- America's Third War: Texas Strikes Back.“I never thought that we’d be in this paramilitary type of engagement. It's a war on the border," said Captain Stacy Holland with the Texas Department of Public Safety. Holland leads a fleet of 16 state-of-the-art helicopters that make up the aviation assets used by the Texas DPS to fight Mexican drug cartels. In recent years, the cartels have become bolder and more ruthless. They cross the border with AK-47s on their backs, wearing military camouflage. They recruit in prisons and schools on the American side. Spotters sit in duck blinds along the Rio Grande and call out the positions of the U.S. Border Patrol. To combat the cartels, the Texas Department of Public Safety is launching a counterinsurgency.President Barack Obama and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano have recently said the Mexican border is more secure now than it has been in 20 years, but some along this border strongly disagree."To suggest the southwest border is secure is ridiculous," said Holland.Hmmm....understatement of the year!Read the full story here.
- HT:HotAir.Time for Holder to go.Let’s face it. Barack Obama and Eric Holder gambled their entire national-security credibility on the Ahmed “Foopie” Ghailani trial, arguing that they could get convictions of detainees captured abroad by military and intelligence assets while using federal courts as a venue rather than the military commissions that Congress repeatedly authorized for that purpose. Holder scolded critics who pointed out all of the reasons that such a strategy was much more likely to fail for “politicizing” the process, especially in regard to the trial of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, whose case is more problematic than Ghailani’s, where the FBI did a large part of the investigation before intelligence assets were used to seize and interrogate Ghailani. There could be no greater failure by the DoJ in this war on terror than to get these decisions wrong, especially in light of the avalanche of criticism over those decisions and the administration’s reaction to it. Holder should hand in his resignation before he makes the same mistake with the other terrorists our military and intelligence assets risked their lives to keep off the battlefield forever. His continued presence insults their work, insults Congress, and insults our desire for justice for 9/11, the USS Cole bombing, the two embassy bombings, and the other terrorist attacks and plots we’ve managed to stop through a forward strategy on the war on terror. If a resignation is not forthcoming, the Senate and House Judiciary committees should start hearings to determine why Holder remains in this position.Update: The minimum sentence is 20 years, not the maximum.Read the full story here.
- Hatch: Truncated First-Ever Senate Hearing for Obama's Never-Confirmed Medicare Director Was 'Pathetic'.Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) told CNSNews.com that members of the Senate Finance Committee did not have enough time Wednesday to fully question Dr. Donald Berwick, the never-confirmed, recess-appointed director of the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), during his first appearance before the committee.Hatch called the hearing “pathetic” and said Finance Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) had limited senators to five minutes each to question Berwick, who never appeared before the committee in the customary setting of a confirmation hearing in which his record would be fully vetted and examined by the senators.Hatch was equally critical at the hearing: "It's like asking us to drain the Pacific Ocean with a thimble. - Attacked by a mob, Indian Protestant clergyman is arrested by police. The increasing number of attacks against Christians are undermining India’s secular credentials, this according to George Sajan, president of the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC), who spoke to AsiaNews about the problem. His statement was prompted by the recent arrest of Rev Peter Paul Muthyalan, in Islampura, not far from central Bangalore (Karnataka). Police acted after Muslim fanatics accused the Protestant clergyman of “forced conversions”. The latter also barged into his home, damaged some household items and tore up a number of Bibles.Rev Muthyalan is an English teacher at the Sunshine English School, Mr Sajan said. Most students at the school are Muslim. The Protestant minister has also led worship services for about 30 people over the past five years at a local church. One day, a colleague from Bible College gave him a few Urdu-language Bibles and gospel material. Some students saw this material and asked to see it. The pastor obliged and gave some brochures to students who asked for them.On 26 October, a mob of some 300 Muslims descended upon his house. They accused him of converting Muslims. They physically assaulted him, broke into his house where they damaged furniture and other household items.Hmmm....interfaith dialog at it's best.Read the full story here.
- Islamic websites distort true meaning of Quran.Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov called on to protect the youth from the influence of radical Islamist websites recruiting illegal armed groups. Paradoxically, these days even the representatives of religious denominations who believe that the "global net" is a sin, preach on the Internet."The main danger comes from numerous sites, most of which are registered in Europe. On these sites Pseudo-Islamist scientists are recruiting young people into the ranks of the Wahhabis. We need to do everything possible to protect the young from the virtual influence of extremists," the leader of Chechnya said at a meeting in Grozny, as reported by RIA Novosti referring to the press service of Kadyrov."Islam forbids random people to interpret the Quran. Their interpretations become available to a wider audience of users through the Internet and can cause considerable damage to the Islamic religion. Young people should know this to avoid becoming a victim of someone else's manipulation," continued the head of the republic.Read the full story here.
- HT:MidasLetter.U.S. Municipal Bond Market Nears Collapse.Has the reckoning arrived for municipal bonds? That is the question investors are asking after munis — those old faithfuls of investing — took their biggest hit since the financial collapse of 2008.Concern over the increasingly strained finances of states and cities and a growing backlog of new bonds for sale overwhelmed the market last week. After performing so well for so long, munis and funds that invest in them fell hard. One big muni fund, the Pimco Municipal Income Fund II, for instance, lost 7.5 percent. The fund is still up 6.75 percent so far this year. While the declines were relatively small given the remarkable gains in these bonds over the last two years, the slump was swift enough to leave investors wondering if this was a brief setback or the start of something worse. For months, some on Wall Street have warned that indebted states and cities might face a crisis akin to the one that brought Greece to its knees.“I think it’s too early to say that it’s more than a correction,” said Richard ACiccarone, the chief research officer of McDonnell Investment Management.“The facts just don’t support a serious conclusion that the whole market’s going downhill,” he said. “They could. We’ve got some serious liabilities out there.”The causes of the week’s big decline are clouded by unusual factors like the looming end of the Build America Bonds program, which has prompted local governments to race new bonds to market before an attractive federal subsidy is reduced.California, for example, will have to sell nearly $14 billion of debt into the falling market this month, because of its record delay in getting a budget signed this year. The warnings keep coming. On Friday, Fitch, the credit ratings agency, issued a report saying that ratings downgrades for municipal bonds outnumbered upgrades for the seventh consecutive quarter.Read the full story here.

- Kryptos Artist to Reveal Rare Clue to Baffling CIA Sculpture.Kryptos sleuths may finally get some help cracking the CIA sculpture that has confounded amateur and professional cryptographers for two decades.Artist Jim Sanborn, who created the cypher sculpture in 1990 for CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, plans to release a new clue to help puzzle detectives solve the last 97 characters of his masterpiece. The new clue is to be revealed in a New York Times article this weekend, to mark the 20th anniversary of the sculpture, which was dedicated Nov. 3, 1990.It will be the first clue Sanborn has revealed in four years, after he corrected a typo in his sculpture in 2006 to keep crypto detectives from being derailed in their search for solutions.Sanborn wouldn’t disclose the clue to Threat Level but said only cryptically that it will “globalize” the sculpture. Asked if this meant it would take the sculpture off the CIA grounds and out of the United States, he conceded it would.“I personally think it’s a significant clue,” he said. “I’m throwing it out there. - Peter King Rips Obama on Ghailani Verdict.Peter King rips the Ghailani verdict as a "total miscarriage of justice today in Manhattan’s federal civilian court." He says it demonstrates the "absolute insanity of the Obama Administration’s decision to try al-Qaeda terrorists in civilian courts."“I am disgusted at the total miscarriage of justice today in Manhattan’s federal civilian court. In a case where Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani was facing 285 criminal counts, including hundreds of murder charges, and where Attorney General Eric Holder assured us that ‘failure is not an option,’ the jury found him guilty on only one count and acquitted him of all other counts including every murder charge. “This tragic verdict demonstrates the absolute insanity of the Obama Administration’s decision to try al-Qaeda terrorists in civilian courts. “This case was doomed from the beginning when the judge excluded DOJ’s key witness who admitted selling the explosives to Ghailani. Where is the justice for the more than 200 people killed and 4,000 injured in the terrorist bombings of our U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania?“As the next Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, I intend to hold hearings and conduct the necessary oversight on this critical homeland security issue in the 112th Congress.” Read the full scandal story here.

- The Expulsion of the Jews from Muslim Countries, 1920-1970: A History of Ongoing Cruelty and Discrimination. •Between 1920 and 1970, 900,000 Jews were expelled from Arab and other Muslim countries. The 1940s were a turning point in this tragedy; of those expelled, 600,000 settled in the new state of Israel, and 300,000 in France and the United States. Today, they and their descendents form the majority of the French Jewish community and a large part of Israel's population. •In the countries that expelled Jews, a combination of six legal, economic, and political measures aimed at isolating Jews in society was instituted: denationalization; legal discrimination; isolation and sequestration; economic despoilment; socioeconomic discrimination; and pogroms or similar acts. •It is the custom to say that Zionism was responsible for this development. However, the region's anti-Semitism would have developed even without the rise of the state of Israel because of Arab-Islamic nationalism, which resulted in xenophobia. •The fact that these events have been obscured has served in the campaign to delegitimize Israel, and therefore to a large extent, the same population that suffered this oppression. The fate of Palestinian refugees, their proclaimed innocence, and the injustice they endured form the main thrust of this delegitimization. The Jewish refugees have suffered more than the Palestinian refugees and undergone greater spoliations. However, they became citizens of the countries of refuge, especially Israel and France, while Palestinians were ostracized from the Arab nations.Read the full story here.HT:JIDaily.

- When Gabriel Latner turned tables on the Israel-bashers.Canadian law student won Cambridge University student union debate for Israel... despite losing it. When Cambridge University’s prestigious student debating society hosted a debate last month on the motion “Israel is a rogue state,” Israel’s supporters bleakly anticipated another hostile, demonizing and divisive event, and braced, too, for acceptance of the motion in the final vote. But the motion was surprisingly and firmly defeated, with 74 percent of the votes opposing it.Latner, who said he comes from a Reconstructionist Jewish background and has been to Israel several times, including reportedly as an IDF volunteer, said he was galvanized by a strong desire to win – even though, as it turned out, “winning” on behalf of Israel meant his side losing the debate.I’m not an Islamophobe, even though some Islamophobes who read my speech think I am. - Commentary: An arctic Cold War with Russia? Some fear that melting Arctic sea ice could trigger a new "great game" between the United States and Russia as they and other Arctic coastal states race to extract newly accessible energy and minerals resources. These fears are exaggerated. There are few, if any, signs of military buildups or tensions, as states are pursuing diplomatic solutions to border delimitation issues. But new confidence-building measures could help avert future risks. Russia, the United States and Canada, among others, have vital interests in the Arctic region. Russia can benefit enormously if it safely develops northern energy and mineral reserves, much of which lie in shallow water on its continental shelf. Moscow's emerging Arctic strategy gives great weight to protecting this resource.Russia and Canada are asserting national claims over the Northeast and Northwest sea passages, respectively, and monitoring the growth of international shipping close to their territory. U.S. interests stem from Alaska's location and keeping those seaways as international bodies of water.Read the full story here.
- UN for 'social' approach against genital mutilation. The UN children's agency on Thursday proposed a new approach for ending female genital mutilation, saying campaigns should work with communities instead of fighting local traditions. But this can happen only "once social norms evolve and social expectations change," said the report by the Innocenti institute, which analysed community-based initiatives in Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Senegal and Sudan. In Senegal, for instance, the report pointed out that there is now a law banning female genital mutilation but its implementation has been delayed by two years in order to allow times for community meetings on the issue. The report said one alternative to the initiation ritual could be "public declarations for the abandonment of the practice" since families will only end the practice if they know that other families will do the same.Read the full story here.
- BORN IN THE USA?Show birth certificate, or don't get on ballot.Eligibility storm clouds on horizon for Obama.A Texas state lawmaker has filed a bill that would require candidates for president or vice president to show their birth certificates to the secretary of state before being allowed on the ballot, and the measure could become effective as early as next year if adopted and signed into law. The move by Rep. Leo Berman, R-Tyler, renews the threat to a second Oval Office term for Barack Obama that was posed last year when the state House in Arizona actually adopted the requirement, but the session ended before the Senate acted. Berman's legislation, House Bill 295, is brief and simple: It would add to the state election code the provision: "The secretary of state may not certify the name of a candidate for president or vice-president unless the candidate has presented the candidate's original birth certificate indicating that the person is a natural-born United States citizen." It includes an effective date of Sept. 1, 2011, in time for the expected presidential campaigning for 2012. Berman told WND he's seen neither evidence nor indication that Obama actually qualifies under the Constitution's requirement that a president be a "natural-born citizen," a requirement not imposed on most other federal officers. "If the federal government is not going to vet these people, like they vetted John McCain, we'll do it in our state," he said. He noted the Senate's investigation into McCain because of the Republican senator's birth in Panama to military parents.Berman also said there will be pressure on any lawmaker who opposes the information plan, since voters would wonder why they wouldn't want such basic data about a president revealed. And he said even if one state adopts the requirement, there will be national implications, because other states would be alerted to a possible problem.Berman said he's convinced there are problems with Obama's eligibility, or else his handlers would not be so persistent in keeping the information concealed.Hmmmm.....Remember the Alamo?Read the full story here.

The "flotilla supporting peace and life" was the venue of choice for the 22nd annual gala Hebron Fund Dinner in New York.
