• All Roads Lead to Ground Zero Mosque – Part 2.After 9/11, Rauf co-founded the Cordoba Initiative with former Aspen, Colo., Mayor John S. Bennett, which explains why Cordoba’s tax filings list an Aspen address. During his four terms as mayor, Bennett was introduced to Alwaleed bin Talal (see Part 1) and other Saudi royals, who own chalets and other properties in Aspen (Bennett’s own home is valued at more than $2 million). • Three star general and Fox military analyst goes Birther.Retired Air Force Lieutenant General Thomas McInerney officially joined the Birther movement by writing an affidavit in support of Army Lieutenant Colonel Terrence Lakin. Larkin refused to deploy to Afghanistan because he does not believe President Barack Obama was born in the United States.The affidavit from McInerney lists concerns about Obama's Constitutional eligibility, and demands that he release his birth records or that the court authorize discovery.Read the full story here.

• Bombings in Lahore Leave 31 Dead.ISLAMABAD, Pakistan—Triple bomb blasts targeting a Shiite religious procession in Lahore killed at least 31 people and left scores of others fighting for their lives as Pakistan militants renewed a campaign of violence against a country recovering from devastating floods.Two of the blasts were suicide attacks, while the third was from a timed device, local police officials told television news channels. Footage of the incident showed a small blast erupting amid a crowd of people on the street followed by a large plume of smoke. About 200 were injured, the officials said.The bombings show that Islamist hardliners have no plans to let up their attacks even as the country continues to deal with the enormous reconstruction task after the flooding, which finally began to recede this week.Read the full story here.More here.

• ...Islam Is Not A Religion, It Is Foreign Law.The time has come to question if Islam is protected under our First Amendment rights to freedom of religion. Yes, everyone in America has the right to freedom of religion, but Islam is not a religion. Religious faith is only a part of Islam. The rest is a socially engineered society with its own laws and customs that seriously conflict with American law.If Muslims want to live and work in America and worship their prophet and God, that is not a problem. But when they try to go beyond their own personal worship and demand that we change our society to accommodate them, then that is where we need to draw the line. It is not we who should change, it is they. Just like people migrating from Mexico, they need to discard their old country ways, adapt to America, assimilate into our society, and become Americans.Muslim worship is protected under the First Amendment, Islamic law is not. Someone please explain this to me. I simply don't get it.And the next time someone comments favorably about that mosque, ask them this question. • Alevis petition European court for religious freedom.The Cem Foundation will take Turkey to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) for its failure to meet Alevi demands, the foundation’s president has said.“Since we have exhausted all legal remedies available to us in Turkey, we will be looking for what’s ours at the ECtHR. • Religious Affairs minister wants Ahmadis banned.Minister Suryadharma Ali wants Muslim sect dissolved and outlawed because it does not view Muhammad as the final prophet. Civil society groups, Church and NGOs protest the move.The fight over the legal status of the Ahmadiyah community continues in Indonesia. Deemed “heretical” by mainstream Muslims, it has come under attack from the government. Yesterday Religious Affairs Minister Suryadharma Ali signed a decree, calling for the banning of the sect, a small minority present in most Muslim nations. In his view, “Ahmadis must be banned because they break our laws, do not recognise Muhammad as the last prophet, and do not believe the Holy Qur‘an to be the last Holy Book of Islam.”Ahmadis are Muslims who venerate Muhammad as well as Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as prophets.
