• HT:BacktoBasics.Seafood dealer says load of crab “contaminated with oil” — State Biologist PREVENTED BY BOSS FROM SHOWING UP to do testing.When looking at a load of newly delivered crab, the smell “knocked us down,” St. Bernard Parish seafood dealer Kevin Heier told Fox 8 New Orleans.“Heier believes the crabs were contaminated with oil,” according to Fox 8.Heier was “in total shock” and had never seen anything like this before. Neither had his colleague who’s been in the crab business for 60 years.They contacted the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, reported Fox 8 and Heier said, “We got a biologist that was supposed to come here. About an hour passed and he never showed up, so we called the biologist and he said my superior stopped me from coming.”Fox 8 added that Heier said that after more than 24 hours “the catch can not be tested because all of the crabs have since died.” “They died already,” said another dealer.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

• Pope visit: Five suspected Islamist terrorists arrested over assassination plot.Police have arrested five suspected Islamist terrorists, working as street cleaners in London, over an alleged plan assassinate the Pope.The men were arrested during raids at 5.45am at a rubbish depot in central London based on an intelligence tip off received overnight.The suspects, aged 26, 27, 36, 40 and 50 were arrested by officers from Scotland Yard’s Counter Terrorism Command on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.They are said to be from a variety of nationalities including a number of Algerian origin.The depot where they worked is less than a mile from Hyde Park where the Pope was due to hold a prayer vigil tomorrow evening.As street cleaners they would have been able to move relatively freely and inconspicuously through the London crowds.Read the full story here.Click here for comments.

We were testing a theory that the chemical composition of the dispersant they were using was causing the oil to sink. And we’d been there for approximately three days, and federal agents flat told us to get out. And it wasn’t Fish and Wildlife officers. • At the U.N. Obama Promotes Human Wrongs Against Israel Instead of Human Rights.Wednesday in Geneva during the current session of the U.N. Human Rights Council, the Obama administration became a willing participant in the U.N.’s imposition of an apartheid-style ban on representatives of the state of Israel. Despite the promises made by the administration that by joining the Council the United States would not become part of the problem, U.S. Ambassador to the Council Eileen Donahoe chose to attend and fully participate in a meeting that deliberately excluded anyone representing the Jewish state.While Israelis are left standing in the hall during the Council’s regional group meetings, this week for the first time Libya took its seat as a full-fledged Council member. • HT:BacktoBasics.DanielGreenfield.Will America Ban Criticism of Islam?In 1935 Sinclair Lewis wrote It Can’t Happen Here, a novel about the rise of tyranny in America, whose message was that it indeed can happen here. Just to remind us that in fact it “can happen here”.The significance of this is that back in 1997, the Clinton Administration’s policy was already to encourage treating any mockery of Islam as a crime. Things have only gotten worse since then. Two of the people who publicly burned the Koran, including Derek Fenton at Ground Zero, have already been fired. Fenton was fired by NJ Transit, a state public corporation, which effectively means that punitive government action has already been taken against a Koran burner. • U.S. Home Seizures Reach Record for Third Time in Five Months.“We’re on track for a record year for homes in foreclosure and repossessions,” Rick Sharga, RealtyTrac’s senior vice president, said in a telephone interview. “There is no improvement in the underlying economic conditions.” Foreclosures are contributing to a growing housing supply that may add as many as 12 million homes to the U.S. market.As many as 8 million homes that are owned or will be seized by banks have yet to reach the market, according to Oliver Chang, a U.S. housing strategist with Morgan Stanley in San Francisco. Owners of 3.8 million more homes said they are “very likely” to put them up for sale within six months if there is improvement, a survey by Seattle-based Zillow Inc. showed. The demand for the covering of shoulders and thighs will effect Christians, Jews and everyone else in order to placate the few within the Muslim community who are pushing for this statute.You see folks, the meme of, "the majority of Muslims are moderate so what's the big deal?", falls flat on its face, for it only takes a small group of committed, intimidating, and very vocal individuals to get the larger group of Muslims to get their minds right. That is why allowing mass groups of Muslims, no matter how "moderate" they are supposed to be, means absolutely nothing.For an example, avery small clique of Bolsheviks took command of the larger socialist movement in 1917, as well as Ayatollah Khomenie's small group of Islamic fundamentalists quickly took power of the movement during the height of the revolution againt the Shah of Iran. • Saudi women barred from concert.Organisers back out last minute but plans a woman-only show.The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the most feared and influential Islamic authority in the conservative kingdom, said early this week it would allow women into the Prince Abdul Aziz bin Musaed Sports city in the central town of Hail to watch the concert marking Eid Al Fitr.But the Commission said it would construct a concrete barrier to separate women from men during the festival which was organised on Thursday night.These must be the womens rights they talk about at the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center? • Sheriff wants armed posse to enforce illegal immigration laws.Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says he is ramping up his fight against illegal immigration and is calling on armed volunteers to do the patrols.Sheriff Joe is always talking about his department’s efforts to crack down on illegal immigration but now he wants to commission a posse whose only job will be to enforce illegal immigration and human smuggling laws.The sheriff explains, “We have 57 different posses. • Jakarta to review laws on religious freedom to guarantee Christian rights.Indonesian authorities will review the laws that regulate freedom of religion in the country. • Liturgy at Hagia Sophia plan stirs tension.A group of Greek Americans and Greeks are planning to arrive in İstanbul today for a religious service at the Hagia Sophia, a former Greek Orthodox patriarchal basilica which is now a museum, despite Turkish officials’ statements that it will not be allowed to take place.The group, a crowd of about 250 people consisting mostly of Greek Americans, is expected to depart from Greece to Turkey today to hold Divine Liturgy at the Hagia Sophia (known as the Ayasofya in Turkish). • Hitler’s car gift to Nepalese king to get a new life.A car said to have been a gift from Adolf Hitler to a Nepali king will be repaired and used to drive visitors around the grounds of a palace museum, a government official said on Thursday.The 1939 Mercedes Benz was presented by the Nazi leader to King Tribhuvan, grandfather of Nepal’s last King Gyanendra, deposed two years ago. • Anti-immigrant wave spreads across Europe.Few people outside of Germany paid much attention when a little-known Berlin politician named Rene Stadtkewitz convened a news conference last week and announced the formation of a new “Freedom” party.But in the German capital, the founding of a movement modeled on the anti-immigrant party of Dutch populist Geert Wilders was a small political earthquake, whose tremors resonated in Chancellor Angela Merkel’s office across town. “Right now we are focused on building up this new party in Berlin, but if we have success here, I certainly can’t rule out extending it nationwide,” Stadtkewitz, who was kicked out of Merkel’s Christian Democrats (CDU) for his views, told Reuters.“The danger is there,” said Manfred Güllner, head of the Forsa polling group, pointing to the strong public support for disgraced Bundesbanker Thilo Sarrazin’s disparaging criticisms of Muslim immigrants in a recent book which warned of the demise of traditional German society.“There is a loss of trust in the established parties, a sort of vacuum, that a charismatic person similar to [former Austrian far-right leader Jörg] Haider could fill.”
