• Obama wants DREAM Act in lame duck.In the House, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said last week she plans to bring the measure to the floor before the end of the year. Democrats are eager to address the concerns of Latino voters who have been disappointed that Congress hasn’t passed a bill with a path to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants. But Latinos still turned out on Nov. 2, supporting Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Sens. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) and Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), among other candidates. • Boehner Challenges Constitutionality of Health Reform Law.Speaker-in-waiting John Boehner, R-Ohio, filed an amicus brief Tuesday challenging the constitutionality of the individual mandate in the health care law passed by Democrats earlier this year.“ObamaCare is a job-killer, and our economy simply cannot afford this unprecedented, unconstitutional power grab by the federal government,” Boehner stated Tuesday evening. “That is why Republicans will continue standing with the American people and fighting to repeal ObamaCare and replace it with better solutions put forth in the Pledge to America to lower health care costs and protect American jobs.”In the brief, Boehner says that the Obama Administration has distorted the Constitution to increase congressional power, which in turn compromises the integrity of the legislative process, and undermines accountability to the American people.Republican aides privately speculate that Boehner could use the first bill of the next session of Congress to repeal health care.Read the full story here.

• Meteor Fireball Explodes Over Netherlands.A fireball meteor zipped across the Netherlands sky Tuesday evening before exploding in to the North Sea, an expert says.The Netherlands just escaped a natural disaster from a meteor. Many Dutch people in the Netherlands witnessed a large "fireball" meteor in the sky. In the north people heard a bang and saw flashes. Also on Twitter people reported on the phenomenon.About one hundred reports have been received from people who have seen the fireball. From the north of the Netherlands there are reports of people who heard rumblings when the meteor passed by and buildings were shaking.Several pictures of the fireball meteor have been posted on the internet.The meteor exploded over northern Netherlands and the North Sea and caused an explosion that made shock waves.Comment :"We were driving somewhere near Breda (from Belgium) and just in front of us, slightly to the right, saw a clear and very bright flash with a long tail, then 3-4 small parts fell down. The time was around 17.00, still bright sun and blue sky. A bipartisan group of House lawmakers is demanding more assurances from the Obama administration that a record $60 billion arms sale to Saudi Arabia won’t give the kingdom new military capabilities that threaten Israel.In a letter to US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates, 198 representatives voiced a range of complaints about Saudi policies, and said they “would like to know how these sales will affect Israel’s qualitative military edge.”The group of lawmakers raising questions included both liberal and conservative members, and the letter faulted several Saudi policies. "The security situation in Germany has become more serious," the minister, Thomas de Maiziere, told a news conference. • Likud Min. Landau: US Demanding Much More Than 3-Month Freeze. Contrary to reports in the media that portray the U.S. as giving Israel a “package” of “benefits” for another three months of building freeze in Judea and Samaria, Washington is actually demanding a lot more for its largesse – far more than Israel can safely agree to, said Infrastructures Minister Uzi Landau.According to Landau, the conditions for the deal are far different than those being portrayed in the Israeli media, which is telling Israelis that in exchange for a “small” Israeli gesture of an additional three month freeze. “Here too, with the Obama promises, we must see the structure of the deal – and you see that the Americans are demanding that we come to a full agreement with the PA in order for the benefits to kick in,"Landau explained. "You only get the benefits in the event of a final-status agreement – only when everything is over.” Given the history of Israel-PA negotiations, the likelihood of that happening is “very low,” he added.Perhaps even worse, Landau said, the understandings between Israel and the United States – which included American opposition to a unilaterally declared PA state – are apparently no longer extant, and have instead been turned into a “sword of Damocles,” to be held over the head of Israel.“Until now, it was understood that the U.S. would veto” sanctions against Israel, or a non-negotiated settlement of the Middle East conflict. Apparently that has changed, Landau said. “The veto was promised and taken as a matter of course, as long as progress was being made and negotiations were continuing. No 'gestures' were required to expect it. Now, the American veto is being used as a threat against our negotiators, pressuring them to surrender our positions. If in a year there is no deal – and it's unlikely there will be – the threat will descend like a sword on our heads, and the U.S. will blame us” and vote against Israel, Landau said.“That's why the Likud is presenting this deal as a 'honey trap.' • Increasing tension between Muslims and Copts. Burned houses, battle over church.Muslims set fire to ten houses and a shop in southern Egypt. In Talby, near the Pyramids, hundreds of Coptic Christians patrol the land for a church whose construction was opposed by fundamentalists.A love story between a young Christian and a Muslim girl has sparked violence in a small town 465 km south of Cairo, security forces intervened to take control of the situation and prevent that the violence spreading to nearby towns. Several people were arrested. The attacks were launched after a young Copt and a Muslim girl were seen together at night in the village cemetery. Both are now under police custody. After the intervention of the police, and after the local religious leaders appealed to the faithful of the two communities, peace returned. Clashes between Christians and Muslims are not uncommon in southern Egypt, many over issues of land, or because of the construction of churches. In recent months, however, the clashes have begun to spread in the capital.More than a million Copts live in the Talbiya, without even a church, and must travel several km every Sunday to attend religious services. The area is full of mosques built without permission, say the Copts, but when it comes to Christians, it takes years to obtain the necessary permits, and then the authorities find some excuse to stop everything. "When they saw the dome of the church, the Muslims went mad," said one of Christian leaders. And when they learned of the construction of the church, they began to throw garbage. A jihadi forum "Atahadi" (Challenge) which is said to have connections with Al Qaeda, published a story on its website called: "Images of the church building at the pyramids, and how to demolish it." • Archbishop of Mosul warns of change in strategy in attacks on Christians.The United Nations should "put pressure on the Iraqi government," therefore investigate attacks and killings "in depth", says Mgr. George Basile Casmoussa, Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Mosul. With the murder of two Christians, in their own homes, we are witnessing an escalation of attacks against the Christian minority in Iraq. Families are leaving the country.On November 15, in Mosul, two other men were killed in their homes. According to the statements of police, some unknown persons broke into homes and gunned them down with automatic weapons before fleeing. The victims were Nabil Ghanem and Nashwan Khoder, both 36 years old. The first, Syrian Catholic, worked for the provincial unit of the organization to combat corruption, the second, a carpenter of Armenian origin.This latest attack - a real execution- seems to indicate a different strategy in the attacks against Christians. • If you won't submit to screening, you won't fly, TSA says.Airline passengers who object to any type of physical screening are not going to fly anywhere, the head of the Transportation Security Administration told a congressional committee Tuesday.Quizzed by lawmakers about a controversial new airport procedure that uses revealing full-body scan machines and intimate "pat-downs" of those who object or set off alarms, TSA Administrator John S. Pistole appealed to the flying public to become "partners" in the effort to combat terrorism. But Pistole told the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs that his inspectors at 453 of the nation's airports are not going to back down in the face of complaints that techniques are invasive.Asked by Sen. CPAW pays illegal immigrants seeking voluntary repatriation to return home.”There are currently between 4-6 million illegal immigrants working in the United States,” Buhl says. “A successful amnesty bill will take away desperately needed jobs for Americans at lower prices.” CPAW does not propose voluntary repatriation as a solution to the “intractable” illegal immigration problem. It is a solution for people who want to go home and for those who want to avoid costly federal detention and deportation proceedings. In fact, privately funded repatriation can be achieved typically at less than 10 percent of full federal detention and deportation costs. What he failed to communicate to low-wage and part-time workers across the country is that they could keep their plans—only if their companies begged hard enough for exemptions from Obamacare’s private insurance-killing regulations.According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website, at least 111 waivers have now been granted to companies, unions and other organizations of all sizes who offer affordable health insurance or prescription drug coverage with limited benefits. Obamacare architects sought to eliminate those low-cost plans under the guise of controlling insurer spending on executive salaries and marketing.It’s all about control. If central planners can’t dictate what health benefits qualify as “good,” what plans qualify as “affordable” and how health care dollars are best spent, then nobody can. The function was organized by colleagues and Left-leaning intellectuals to express solidarity to him. Joseph said he was touched by the support he has received from various quarters."Neither the brutal attack on me nor my dismissal from service has weakened my resolve. It is the love and blessings of well-wishers that has moistened my eyes," he said.The lecturer is now fighting a legal battle against the Newman College management which dismissed him from service for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. • Iranian President Removed As Central Bank Board Chairman. The Iranian parliament has passed a law removing President Mahmud Ahmadinejad from the post of chairman of the General Assembly of Iran's Central Bank, RFE/RL's Radio Farda reports.The legislation passed on November 14 also divests Ahmadinejad of the authority to appoint the Central Bank's governor and deputy governor.The remaining members of the Central Bank's General Assembly are currently the minister of economic affairs and finance, the head of the State Management and Planning Organization, the minister of commerce, and one more minister to be selected by the Council of Ministers.Under the new arrangement, the members will include seven economists, plus the chief prosecutor and the head of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines. IRNA quoted Mohammad Reza Bahonar, the legislator who proposed the bill, as saying one of the reasons for the changes in the Central Bank management is that some Western countries have tried to confiscate the bank's assets as government assets. A far-reaching food safety bill that could give the government more power to prevent foodborne illnesses has become a target of those who advocate buying locally produced food.They worry the legislation's safety requirements could force small farms out of business.The opposition of these "locavores" -- advocates for buying food directly from the farm or closer to home -- and owners of small farms has become a sticking point in the Senate, which was to vote Wednesday on whether to consider the bill.Supporters will need 60 votes to proceed on the bill because Sen.
