CBN News traveled to Malaysia -- a country that presents itself as a model for Islamic moderation, yet has many former Muslims who say they are persecuted after finding Christ.A two-hour journey from the capital city of Kuala Lumpur revealed an isolated encampment where some Christian converts say they've been taken to be forced back to Islam.The Malaysian government calls the facilities "retreat centers." Muslims willingly come there to strengthen their faith.CBN News spoke to one Christian, who asked to remain anonymous, in fear he would be taken back to what others have called "faith purification" facilities."They were clearly angry and they wanted to kill me, but they did not harm me physically," he recalled. "I know of many others. They force you to recite Islamic prayers and the Koran, to do all the things you're suppose to do as a Muslim.""They're trying to force us to believe what we can't believe," the man continued. "These re-education centers come from the power of darkness.""Nathan," another former Muslim who's identity is being protected, said he lost his property, job, and family after officials learned he'd become a Christian. He's hiding from the government."I've lost it all (but) does it matter? I mean, Jesus said in the Word what we should seek for is everlasting treasure," Nathan explained. "I have counted my cost. • Heavy snow causes Metrodome roof to collapse in Minnesota.The eye of a blizzard lingered Sunday over parts of Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota, where heavy snow caused the roof of the Metrodome in Minneapolis to collapse, a spokesman for the Minnesota State Patrol said.In Minneapolis, the roof of the city's 64,000-seat football stadium caved in, its iconic dome no longer visible after more than 17 inches of snow blanketed the Twin Cities since Friday.Snow could be seen blowing through the normally covered stadium Sunday as workers wielding shovels cleared the field of the white stuff."Obviously the weight of the snow would affect how much air pressure is necessary to keep that roof up," Roeske said. "Something caused that air pressure not to be strong enough or high enough to keep that roof at its normal position."Roy Terwilliger, chairman of the Minneapolis Metro Sports Commission -- the group that oversees the Metrodome -- said the heavy snow and cold, high winds "was too much pressure on the dome and several panels on the Teflon roof were caused to rip."He added that "you can look through the tear in the roof and see the sky." • HT:CarolineGlick.Why Latin America Turned.Whereas in Turkey, the media failed only to report on the significance of the singular trend of Islamization of Turkish society, the media have consistently ignored the importance for Israel of three trends that made Latin America's embrace of the Palestinians against Israel eminently predictable.Those trends are the rise of Hugo Chavez, the regional influence of the Venezuela-Iran alliance, and the cravenness of US foreign policy towards Latin America and the Middle East. When viewed as a whole they explain why Latin American states are lining up to support the Palestinians. More importantly, they tell us something about how Israel should be acting.Over the past decade Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez has inherited Fidel Castro's mantel as the head of the Latin American anti-American club. He has used Venezuela's oil wealth, drug money and other illicit fortunes to draw neighboring states into his orbit and away from the US. Chavez's circle of influence now includes Cuba and Nicaragua, Bolivia, Uruguay and Ecuador as well as Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina and Peru. Democracies like Colombia and Chile are also taking steps in Chavez's anti-American direction.Chavez's choice of Iran is no fluke although it seemed like one to some when the alliance first arose around 2004. Iran's footprint in Latin America has grown gradually. Beginning in the 1980s, Iran started using Latin America as a forward base of operations against the US and the West. It deployed Hizbullah and Revolutionary Guards operatives and other intelligence and terror assets along the largely ungoverned tri-border area between Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil. That staging ground in turn enabled Iran to bomb Israeli and Jewish targets in Buenos Aires in the early 1990s.With Chavez's assistance, Teheran is expanding its web of alliances throughout Latin America at the expense of the US and Israel.On the face of it, Chavez and Ahmadinejad seem like an odd couple. One is a Marxist and the other is a messianic jihadist. But on closer inspection it makes perfect sense. • Holder Calls Terrorism Sting Operations ‘Essential’.Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. has defended the use of sting operations orchestrated by government informers, telling advocates for the civil rights of American Muslims on Friday night that the tactic is an “essential law enforcement tool in uncovering and preventing terror attacks.”On Saturday, Muslim community groups said they appreciated Mr. Holder’s effort at outreach, but emphasized their opposition to the tactic he defended. The method involves building cases against Muslims by using undercover agents who suggest violent and nonviolent ways to help the cause of Islam. In recent cases, the suspects are accused of choosing the violent. In a 20-minute speech delivered in this suburb of San Francisco at the annual dinner of Muslim Advocates, a national legal advocacy and civil rights organization, Mr. Holder rejected criticism by such groups that sting operations amount to improper entrapment. Muslim leaders were unmoved. Mr. Holder was given a standing ovation as he took the stage, and many applauded during his speech. But the room fell silent for several minutes while Mr. Holder defended the sting operation in an Oregon bombing case last month, calling it a “successful undercover operation” and not a case of entrapment. Boykin’s first words to an audience of about 300 on Friday set the tone for the three-part lecture on current events and military history he will give this weekend at the Owego Treadway Inn.“Do we have any Muslims in here?” he asked. “Who’s in here to cause trouble?”Boykin’s talk on Friday was the first of his three-part discussion, “America and the Greatest Threat of our Time.” His lecture will continue with the second and third installments today at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Owego Treadway Inn.“I believe today we face as great a threat as we faced in 1776,” Boykin said. “The situation in America is much far more serious than most Americans realize, and there’s no longer any excuse for not knowing.”That threat, he said, is Islam.“You need to remember one thing from tonight’s presentation,” Boykin told the audience. “Their objective is to replace our Constitution with Sharia Law.”Boykin spent 36 years in the Army, retiring as a lieutenant general in 2007. Are those suggesting legal action or death to Julian Assange really interested in a similar cover up?The now infamous Wikileaks recently released a cable from Afghanistan revealing U.S. government contractor DynCorp threw a party for Afghan security recruits featuring trafficked boys as the entertainment. Bacha bazi is the Afghan tradition of "boy play" where young boys are dressed up in women's clothing, forced to dance for leering men, and then sold for sex to the highest bidder. Apparently this is the sort of "entertainment" funded by your tax dollars when DynCorp is in charge of security in Afghanistan.DynCorp is a government contractor which has been providing training for Afghan security and police forces for several years. Though the company is about as transparent as a lead-coated rock, most reports claim over 95% of their budget comes from U.S. taxpayers. That's the same budget that Dycorp used to pay for a party in Kunduz Province for some Afghan police trainees. The entertainment for the evening was bacha bazi boys, whose pimps were paid so the boys would sing and dance for the recruits and then be raped by them afterward. • HT:MediaMatters.GOP blocks 9/11 first responders bill; ABC, CBS, and NBC ignore the story.The bill is officially known as the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010 and is named after a first responder who died from a respiratory disease attributed to his rescue efforts on the morning of the Sept. 11 terror attack. The bill easily passed the House in September with a rare bout of bipartisan support. The bill's backers expected passage in the Senate, as well. But yesterday, every Republican senator voted against the bill. The action was part of the GOP's obstructionist strategy of not allowing any senate action to proceed until the chamber votes on a bill that will continue to Bush era tax cuts, including those for the very wealthy.The fact that the 9/-11-related legislation was defeated was news. Period. The fact that it was defeated as part of the larger Republican strategy to tie the Senate in knots made yesterday's vote even more newsworthy. But not at ABC, CBS or NBC. Last night, all three evening newscasts failed to report on the fact that Republicans had voted down a previously bipartisan bill designed to provide medical coverage for Sept. 11 emergency workers. • HT:BacktoBasics.A Grim Record: One In Seven Americans Is On Food Stamps.The number of people on food stamps keeps hitting new all-time highs; as of September, nearly 43 million people were using the program, according to figures out this week.Of course, because of population growth, absolute numbers only tell part of the story. The best way to look at the numbers over a long period of time is as a percentage of the population. And when you do that, you see that we’re also hitting new highs.The criteria for qualifying for food stamps haven’t changed much over time, according to Jean Daniel, a spokeswoman for the government agency that oversees the food-stamp program (the program is officially known as SNAP, by the way).Congress monkeys with the criteria a little bit now and then, but the basic rules are the same: People need to be at 130 percent of the poverty level or lower, Daniel said. For a family of four, that’s an income of just under $29,000, according to government guidelines. There are also limits on liquid assets — investments, money in the bank, that sort of thing.Over the years, you see the number of people in the program rise and fall along with broader economic cycles. But the uptick this time is much more dramatic.“What we’re seeing this time is quite a few people who are new to the program, who never before in their lifetime expected to take advantage of any government program,” Daniel told me.Hmmm...At what percentage does the American people realise this administration doesn't care about "We the people"?Read and see the full story here.

She said the Government should make it easier for them to send the money home and called for tax refunds to encourage more immigrants to follow suit, in particular those who paid for their children to be educated in the Third World.The Labour Deputy Leader, who is also the party’s spokesman on International Development, derided ‘those who say we should look after our own first’ in the recession and vowed to fight any attempt to cut the £9.4 billion overseas aid budget.But last night the Government challenged her ‘bizarre’ conduct.Ms Harman said she intended to launch a new international survey to learn how other countries handled remittances to poorer nations to enable Britain to ‘make the procedure easier, even possibly with some sort of tax relief for those who send payments to educate relatives abroad’.Her radical proposal was supported by some at the meeting.But one member of the audience said Ms Harman would have to be ‘careful’ how she campaigned on the issue. ‘She was told that if it was found the majority of people sending remittances were on benefits, critics would say it proved that they are receiving too much in State handouts if they can still send money abroad,’ according to one person who was present.Tory International Development Minister Alan Duncan said last night: ‘Ms Harman’s comments seem bizarre. • HT:Antisemitism.Germany - Antisemitic theories on the rise.Higher-earners are more xenophobic than the average German, and resentment of Jews and Muslims is on the rise, according to an annual study of social trends released.The 9th annual "German Situation" study, from the University of Bielefeld Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence, suggests a clear "cooling of the social climate" as a result of tougher economic times.Researchers found an increase in antisemitism linked to Israel over the past year, though still not as high as in 2002, the first year of the study. In 2010, 57 per cent of respondents agreed: "Israel is conducting a war of extermination against the Palestinians" and 38 per cent agreed that it was "understandable how Israel's policies might encourage anti-Jewish feelings."More than 25 per cent agreed that "Muslim immigration to Germany should be prohibited", an approximately five per cent increase over 2009. The study also found that antisemitic theories are becoming more socially acceptable.Professor Wilhelm Heitmeyer of the University of Bielefeld oversaw more than 2,000 interviews for the study, which focused on the impact of the current economic crisis.They found that a crisis mentality leads to a closing of the ranks. • Arab experts call on Russia to influence Israeli policy through “Russian” Israelis.Arab participants of an international conference in Malta called on Russia to use its influence over the more than a million Russian-speaking Israelis to change Israel’s attitude toward the regional peace process, but their Russian and Israeli colleagues said that this was impossible.On the second day of the conference “Scenarios and Models for a Middle East Peace Settlement” the more than 50 participants began summarizing the results and formulating recommendations to Russia, the organizer of the event.“Russia can influence Israel from the inside, through Jews of Russian origin, and through Israeli capital in the Russian economy,” said a participant in the forum. The topic of discussion was how to expand Russia’s role in the peace process.One of the most prominent members of the Israeli delegation objected: “Some of our Palestinian colleagues are giving bad advice to our Russian colleagues. • And now for something completely different.Astronomers claim dwarf sun lies beyond Pluto!A team of Spanish astronomers claim they’ve discovered evidence of a significant object on the outskirts of the solar system. The object is so big it may have large satellites orbiting it. Officially it’s named “G1.9.”What the team believes it has discovered is a brown dwarf star. If true, that would make our solar system a binary star system.Binary star systems are not unusual. But the discovery comes after almost a decade of fevered speculation feeding conspiracy theories of a giant star named Nemesis or a Planet X that swings around the sun every 13,500, 27,000 or 55,000 years—take your pick.Serious investigation of large objects long thought to be part of our system, yet well past the orbit of Pluto, have been dampened by the frenzy of true believers that are convinced a gigantic object will presage massive earth changes for either good or bad.Now some new evidence has revealed there may well be such an object—or something similar—so the volume of the conspiracy enthusiasts will no doubt ratchet up.According to the Spanish astronomers’ data, it appears that G1.9 is orbiting in a long elliptical loop between Pluto and the edge of the Oort Cloud.The size of the brown dwarf is larger than Jupiter but smaller than a low mass star.G1.9 is currently approximately 60 to 66 Astronomical Units from Earth. (1 AU = the distance from the Sun to Earth). In the sky it can be located in the vicinity of the Sagittarius constellation. The discovery seems to have occurred at G1.9′s closest approach to us.NASA’s new calculations predict a deep space object as far as one light year from Earth in the Oort Cloud could be responsible for slinging asteroids into our solar system. The object would have to be at least 4 times the mass of Jupiter.Now where have we heard that before?Two astrophysicists at the University of Louisiana—John Matese and Daniel Whitmire—developed a new theory predicated on the idea that “something smaller than a Jovian mass would not be strong enough to perform the task.”Therefore, the two scientists believe our sun must have a companion.“I think this whole issue will be resolved in the next five to 10 years,” Matese said.Hmmmm...Planet X, a.k.a.
