• Sudan investigates case of woman seen being flogged on YouTube clip.Footage sparks international condemnation as police laugh and joke as they administer whipping to screaming woman.Sudan's judiciary has launched an investigation into the public flogging of a woman after footage of her being whipped by laughing policemen was posted to the internet.The YouTube video shows an unidentified woman in a long black dress and a headscarf being ordered to sit down in a parking lot (Warning: Video contains graphic images of violence some may find disturbing).A uniformed policeman proceeds to whip her all over her body as she screams in pain. A second officer laughs when he realises he is being filmed, before joining in the punishment, which lasts a minute and a half.Flogging is relatively common is northern Sudan, where sharia law is often enforced arbitrarily. But the cruel, nonchalant behaviour of the security forces amid the distress of the victim in this case caused a stir in the country and the diaspora, and even attracted condemnation in some pro-government newspapers.Initially Sudan's deputy police chief, Adel Al-Agib, tried to downplay the incident, saying that the footage was circulated in order to damage the image of the country.During her ordeal, which was witnessed by numerous passers-by, the victim shouts repeatedly for her mother and grabs one the whips of one of the policeman in a vain attempt to stop the beating. • HT:WZ."The War On Christmas"Tennessee: ACLU Sends Letter to Public Schools Warning Them Not to Celebrate Christmas.The American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee is warning Maury County Director of Schools Eddie Hickman and 136 other public school superintendents across the state to refrain from winter celebrations focusing primarily on one religious holiday.The group sent a letter to Hickman citing U.S. Supreme Court decisions that support the opinion that such celebrations amount to an unconstitutional endorsement of religion.In a news release, Hedy Weinberg, executive director of the ACLU of Tennessee, said the letter was sent in response to numerous complaints from families.The letter states that the ACLU welcomes “holidays that teach children about a variety of holidays. • Department of Justice Suing School for Not Giving Teacher Three Weeks off to Perform Hajj.The federal government sued a suburban Chicago school district Monday for denying a Muslim middle school teacher unpaid leave to make a pilgrimage to Mecca that is a central part of her religion.In a civil rights case, the department said the school district in Berkeley, Ill., denied the request of Safoorah Khan on grounds that her requested leave was unrelated to her professional duties and was not set forth in the contract between the school district and the teachers union. In doing so the school district violated the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by failing to reasonably accommodate her religious practices, the government said.Khan started as a middle school teacher for Berkeley School District 87 — about 15 miles west of Chicago — in 2007. In 2008, she asked for almost three weeks of unpaid leave to perform the Hajj. After the district twice denied her request, Khan wrote the board that “based on her religious beliefs, she could not justify delaying performing hajj,” and resigned shortly thereafter, according to the lawsuit filed in federal court in Chicago.Berkeley School District compelled Khan to choose between her job and her religious beliefs, the lawsuit said.Hmmm...It's only when Christmas is involved that religion can't be allowed at school?Read the full story here.HT:WZ.

• UK Councilor seeks release of Asia Bibi.Britain’s youngest Muslim councilor is in Pakistan to seek the release of Christian lady Asia Bibi who is facing death sentence on allegations of blasphemy. Raza Anjum, a Conservative councillor for Saffron Waldon,in Essex, in his conversation with APP from Islamabad said he has lined up meetings with several senior Government figures including Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, Punjab Governor Salman Taseer as well as the Minorities Minister Shahbaz Bhatti, in the coming days over the issue. In a show of solidarity, he said he is also planning to spend Christmas day with Asia Bibi in Lahore Jail.He said the issue has caused concern in the international community and is harming the image of Pakistan .Anjum said he hopes to use his own Pakistani roots to impress upon the Pakistani leadership the gravity of the issue and seek pardon for the Christian woman, who is a mother of five. • Mullen: Risk of War Rising on Korean Peninsula.The top U.S. military officer said Monday that the danger of war or hostilities on the Korean peninsula is rising, as North Korea warned that cooperation between its southern neighbor and the United States could trigger a nuclear war. Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told troops in Baghdad that North Korea has upped the ante in its aggression against South Korea -- a pattern he said is tied to preparations for Kim Jong Il to pass power to his son. The latest example of bellicose rhetoric came with North Korea warning of nuclear war, as South Korea planned live-fire naval drills to run Monday through Friday. • Maldivians: Israeli doctors 'harvest organs'.(Video) Israeli medical humanitarian delegation sent to save Maldives residents eyesight greeted by protestors claiming 'Israeli-Zionist conspiracy'.The Republic of Maldives, an island nation in the Indian Ocean and the smallest Muslim country in the world, has been enraged in the past few days due to an Israeli delegation of eye surgeons who arrived to treat locals' eyesight problems. The purpose of sending Israeli experts was to improve the relations between the countries. But no one thought the Israeli doctors would be welcomed by raging demonstrations in front of their hotel, including Muslim demonstrators calling to banish the physicians and burning the Israeli flag. Islamic opposition party Adhaalath and the Islamic Association of the Republic of Maldives officially claimed the Israeli doctors arrived to their country as part of an Israeli-Zionist conspiracy intended to harvest the organs of citizens and then steal them.The doctors arrived to the islands last Thursday, but received a permit to operate in the country's capital of Male and in another location only on Saturday. Despite demonstrations, hundreds of patients awaited the arrival of the doctors. The writer of the letter informs the President that “I stood with you on the campaign trail in the battle ground states of North Carolina and Virginia. I stood with you in Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and West Virginia.” As reward for his efforts, the writer requests the President to compel Congress to appropriate $1.15 billion “immediately” in settlement of an agreement which black farmers have reached with the Department of Justice. The writer signs his name: Dr. John W. Boyd, Jr. Underneath his signature, he puts his title: President (of the “National Black Farmers Association”).Who is this person?By his own admission, Boyd works only part-time on his father’s farm. The rest of the time he is involved with the NBFA. Because that organization appears to be the sole entity which defines his influence; it therefore requires examination. For starters, it is not represented by physical headquarters, either in Washington, D.C., Virginia or anywhere else. Instead, it essentially exists on a website:Websites, of course, can be exceptionally powerful; as witnessed by Andrew Breitbart’s eponymous website or Arianna Huffington’s site, etc. But the clue to the power and influence of any site is always given by the size of its staff and its budget. The NBFA displays neither. Instead of a vice-president, office manager, accountant, site manager or even a secretary to answer phones, there is just one lonesome individual on the NBFA site – John Boyd. If there are any other workers in this organization, there are no traces of them. For instance, when one clicks on the “About” tab describing the organization, the only person shown is Boyd. When you click the “Contact” tab, the only person to be contacted is John Boyd. When you click the tab to “Join” NBFA, the only person who will be handling your $100 check is John Boyd. (Note: It is telling that Boyd’s site accepts checks. Accepting checks as payment is notoriously slow and ineffective, which is why every well-organized site instead has options for credit cards and/or links to credit card sites such as PayPal, etc.)Another thing one notes on this site is that there is no calendar of events showing conferences, committees, commissions and/or massive assemblies which NBFA has been requested to be a part of (a sure sign of its influence). Instead, as one scans the website, one notes that the only assemblies which NBFA seems to attend appear to be those which Boyd initiates on his own. These assemblies are quite small, the majority of them appear to consist of no more than 10-15 people. • Study: Female Vets Especially Vulnerable To Suicide.Around 32,000 people commit suicide in the U.S. each year; 20 percent of those suicides are veterans. Traditionally, when we think of suicide among vets, we think of men. But this week, for the first time, a sizable study was published that looked specifically at female veterans and suicide.The journal Psychiatric Services published this week the first large-scale study of suicide among female veterans. To do the study, Portland State University researcher Mark Kaplan collected information about all the female deaths by suicide in 16 states.He then compared the rate of suicide among female veterans to the rate of suicide among female civilians, and found that in general female vets are much more likely to commit suicide than their civilian peers, especially, Kaplan says, younger vets."Female veterans — age 18 to 34 — are three times as likely as their civilian peers to die by suicide," he said .That's a very big difference. Because historically there have been many more men than women in the military, the problem of female suicide hasn't received much attention. But the armed forces are integrating: In the current wars, women are on increasingly on the frontlines.Kaplan says he wants people to take suicide among female vets more seriously."When we think of suicide, and suicide completion, I don't think we often think of women enough," he said. "That's my point.""They worry that because they sometimes get angry and don't deal with things well that they won't be appropriate with their kids," she said. "And I think that is one of the things that it most poignant on the hot line is when young mothers call and they're concerned about their ability to take care of their children because of their problems."In the coming decades, both Kemp and Kaplan say, more women will work on the frontlines of war. • Warhol Group Threatens to End Smithsonian Funding. The Andy Warhol Foundation says unless a video removed from an exhibit at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery after a Catholic group complained is returned, it will withhold funding from the institution.Joel Wachs, president of the foundation, says its board voted on Friday to demand the video be restored. The video by late artist David Wojnarowicz depicts ants crawling on a crucifix. The board sent a letter and e-mail Monday to Smithsonian Secretary Wayne Clough.The foundation says it has given $375,000 over the past three years to various Smithsonian museums, including $100,000 to help fund "Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture," from which the video was removed.Clough says he regrets the foundation's choice, but the Smithsonian stands by its decision.Hmmm...Wel Done!Read the full story here.

In this scenario, an international cabal of progressive radicals financed by Soros has managed to fool America into electing Obama president, whereupon Obama works behind the scenes to institute the radical progressive agenda under the veneer of a centrist Democrat.Having no experience in the politics of triangulation, Obama naturally reaches out to Bill Clinton, the man who wrote the book on political triangulation, to get his tax deal past his own party. • How nearly HALF of American seniors are facing life on the poverty line.Nearly half of elderly Americans will face a future with at least one year below or close to the poverty line, a new study has shown.The study also claims to show a huge racial divide in prospects for the elderly.Mark R Rank, a professor at Washington University in St. Louis, said the results of his research contradict popular beliefs about the economic stability of America's elderly population.'We have an image of the elderly as doing pretty well,' he said, adding that data spanning 35 years does not support that assumption.Elderly black Americans are almost twice as likely as whites to sink to the poverty level, according to the study. It estimates 64.6 per cent of black Americans and 32.7 whites will face poverty.'There are historical differences between whites and African-Americans. In all age groups, African-Americans are more likely at lower paying jobs and have much less assets,' Rank explained.'Given the current demographic and economic trends in America, this threat (of poverty) is quite likely to remain in the years ahead.'Read the full story here.

It believes that the Creator of the Universe is on its side and wants it to fight. Hamas revels in martyrdom. It thinks total victory and the killing of all Israeli Jews is achievable. And it knows that the rest of the world won't let it be fully defeated and thrown out of power no matter how many rockets, martyrs, and terrorist groups it sends into Israel.As a dictatorial regime intending to control everything and stay in power forever, Hamas is locking the Gaza population into its patronage system, a sort of Islamist welfare state, so that people wouldn't dare break with their rulers. • DisHonor killing in Turkey,Christian murders his sister and Muslim brother in law.A young couple that was found dead in their car in İstanbul's Fatih district 10 days after they got married were murdered because of religious differences, according to the prime suspect in the case. Sonay Öğmen (age 26), the daughter of a Syriac family, married Zekeriya Vural (age 29) 10 days ago, against her family's wishes. The young couple was found dead in their automobile on Sunday, each with a bullet to the forehead. The police established that the couple was killed by someone sitting in the back seat, concluding that the murderer had to be someone they knew. The alleged killer, Sonay's brother Günay Öğmen, was taken into police custody as part of the investigation. He purportedly confessed in his police testimony to shooting the couple, saying, “We did not want that groom.”Vural's uncle Cemal Vural spoke to the press, saying: “Sonay's brother had invited them to dinner. It was a trap, apparently. She was Christian. Her family was against the marriage because he is Muslim. Actually, Sonay warned her family a week ago that she'd take her own life.”Yuhanna Aktaş, head of the Midyat Syriac Culture Association, said there was no tradition of honor killings in the Syriac community. He said he had talked to his cousin, Melki Akyüz, a Syriac priest in İstanbul and other leaders of the Syriac community there to get a briefing on the murder. Aktaş said: “There are no such murders in Christianity. You cannot find one such incident in all the archives and records kept during the history of the republic. Where we live in Midyat andits surrounding areas, there have been girls who eloped with Muslim men. The harshest reaction some Syriac families have shown is to disown their daughter, but there is not a single family that killed their daughter.”Turkey has approximately 30,000 Syriac Christians. How many islamists have been freed by Western armies only to watch as they show appreciation by attacking us? How many times must the West prostrate itself in front of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in order to get him to comply with the "International Law" he likes to spew when it benefits him?There is no political answer to the major problems facing the world today. Iran will not give up it's nuclear ambitions; the "palestinians" are not going to have peace with the Israelis; the islamists are not going to stop killing infidels. All talk does is allow these same groups to reinforce their already growing support. NO ONE SUPPORTS A COWARD.One day we are going to wake up to another large violent attack conducted by islamists. What then? How many have to die all at once before people face the fact that sometimes violence is the answer? • Turkey following US court genocide rulings.A court of appeal in San Francisco has said a California law labelling the killing of Armenians "genocide" does not conflict with US foreign policy.Turkish officials have stated that they are closely following developments after a US federal appeals court on Friday reversed its own decision and now says the heirs of Armenians killed in the Turkish Ottoman Empire can seek payment from companies that sold their relatives life insurance.The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said a California law labelling the killings “genocide” does not conflict with US foreign policy, which the court said is unsettled on the issue.The ruling was 2-1, the same vote the same judicial panel came to last year when it struck down the California law empowering the heirs to sue companies that sold life insurance policies to Armenians killed in Ottoman-era Turkey during World War I. At the current stage, the case is not directly related with the Turkish government, the Anatolia news agency reported, citing diplomatic sources.However, since the case refers to US policy regarding the issue, any change in US policy can also eventually have an impact on the court case, the sources said, noting that they have been closely following the issue.Last year, the same panel concluded that the US government had sided with the Turkish government and formally taken a position against labelling the killings genocide. Therefore, that panel concluded, California calling the event genocide conflicted with US foreign policy, making the state law invalid. But in a rare and stunning move on Friday, Judge Dorothy Nelson changed her mind and sided with Judge Harry Pregerson, which turned his 2009 dissenting opinion into law.Judge David Thompson, who wrote the now-overturned majority opinion last year, said in dissent that former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush opposed congressional resolutions that would have recognized an Armenian genocide. • Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood Issues Fatwa: Working With American Army an Act of Apostasy.The government on Monday expressed its rejection and condemnation of a statement issued by the Islamist opposition, which criticised Jordan’s military participation in missions led by the US across the world. The Islamic Action Front (IAF), the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, said joining American forces in their military presence in Afghanistan and Sudan is “haram”, or religiously rejected and a “form of oppression” against brotherly Muslims.The fatwa (religious edict) went as far as saying that such an act is apostasy. Eikenberry and other top Western officials in Kabul urged Karzai to delay implementing a ban on private security firms. Reconstruction projects worth billions of dollars would have to be shuttered, they maintained, if foreign guards were evicted. Sitting at the head of a glass-topped, U-shaped table in his conference room, Karzai refused to budge, according to two people with direct knowledge of the late October meeting. He insisted that Afghan police and soldiers could protect the reconstruction workers, and he dismissed pleas for a delay. As he spoke, he grew agitated, then enraged. He told them that he now has three "main enemies" - the Taliban, the United States and the international community. "If I had to choose sides today, I'd choose the Taliban," he fumed. After a few more parting shots, he got up and walked out of the wood-paneled room.

Instead, Z Street is being excluded because of a "a Terrorism Special Policy, and that Israel is included." Lori Lowenthal Marcus, in a short press release, briefly explains what's going on:We now have the mind-numbing IRS defense for delaying (almost a year now!) Z STREET's application for tax exempt status. In a signed affidavit, an IRS official explains that there is no "Israel Special Policy," instead it is a Terrorism Special Policy, and that Israel is included. That's right, Israel is a terrorist state because terrorism happens there. True, Israel is the victim, but why quibble with details? This brings moral equivalency to a whole new level.
