MFS - The Other News

                          Morning Posting.

  • HT:CrossroadsArabia.Teaching Human Rights in the Saudi Arabian Kingdom.Saudi Arabia and Saudi Arabs need to learn more about human rights, says the National Society for Human Rights. I think that’s a fair assessment. Human rights, as a concept, does not seem to have much of a history in the country which, until relatively recently, was pretty much a survive-at-all-costs world that relied exclusively on family support to resolve problems.Something that could also be worked on is recognizing that non-Saudis, non-Arabs, non-Muslims—like the millions of foreign workers brought into the country every year—are also human beings, by definition. They, too, deserve the same rights a Saudi would accord his sister or brother, his mother or father. They are equal in the kind and number of human rights owed them. Too often, there’s a sense that foreigners are of some different essence than ‘human’. That seriously needs to stop.Mecca - The National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) has urged government departments to do more to educate people on human rights, said a member of the society’s local branch.“The NSHR noticed shortcomings in the services offered by some government departments such as prisons, social affairs department and even the courts,” said Muhammad Al-Sahli while giving a talk on human rights at a function at the Presidency of Girls Education Hall in Makkah recently.Al-Sahli was of the view that all Saudi social practices were not based on Islamic principles. He added that while senior government officials cooperated with the NSHR in its attempts to address people’s issues, it was mostly junior officials that created difficulties for the society. He attributed this trend to a lack of awareness of human rights. He said 94 percent of the people in the Saudi Kingdom are ignorant of human rights, or even the existence of the NSHR.Hmmmm....Am i living on another planet or did they not get recently the seat at the UN for women Rights?I wonder based on what knowledge?Read the full story here.

  • V for Victory: Confident WikiLeaks chief Julian Assange arrives at court hoping to be free within hours.A High Court judge was today deciding whether WikiLeaks boss Julian Assange should be freed on bail. The whistleblower gave the thumbs up and made a V for victory sign as he arrived at the Royal Courts of Justice this morning ahead of the hearing. It has now started and is due to last for around two hours, after which the 39-year-old Australian could walk free.Assange, who was led inside in handcuffs earlier today, was granted bail at a court hearing on Tuesday after supporters agreed to post a £240,000 surety. But in a dramatic turn of events, he was told he would have to remain behind bars after the Swedish authorities said they would fight his release ahead of a full extradition hearing next year.Hmmm.....Free but locked away in a mansion?Read the full story here.

  • New attack against Christians in Iraq. Girl kidnapped from her home in Mosul.A new attack on the Christian community in Iraq. On the evening of December 15 armed militants abducted a young Christian female student from her home in Iraq’s northern city of Mosul. The gunmen burst into her home in Mosul’s Karaj neighbourhood overnight and drove her away to an undisclosed location, according to the Ankawa Christian news website. The girl is a student of a local technical institute. It is the latest in a string of attacks against the country's Christian community, once 100 thousand Christians lived in Mosul, but now only five thousand live in the area, due to growing wave of religious fundamentalism, and attacks against them. The Iraqi government decided only days ago to protect Christian churches with three meter high concrete walls, to avoid tragic incidents like the attack on the Syrian-Catholic Cathedral in Baghdad Oct. 31.

  • HT:sfgate.Month-long suspension ordered in Obama e-mail flap.A Louisiana State Senate employee has been formally reprimanded and suspended for a month without pay because she sent an e-mail to hundreds of government workers that appeared to try to show President Barack Obama as white.Senate President Joel Chaisson announced the punishment Tuesday for Senate researcher Tammy Crain-Waldrop. She can return to work Jan. 3 and must send a written apology to Senate and House staff and lawmakers. She also will have to attend diversity training.Crain-Waldrop sent a message that included a doctored photo of Obama with light skin and says, "Do you like him any better now? No? Me neither ..... Then you're not a racist."Chaisson called the message, which Crain-Waldrop sent by mistake to the Capitol e-mail post office box Nov. 30, "highly inappropriate."Hmmmm....Judging from the polls the're more people who don't like him?Read the full story here.

  • HT:TundraTabloids.Israel MK to Turkey: “Sorry We Didn’t Shoot Sooner”.Danon’s speech was as follows:To the Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan,(by way of the Turkish ambassador to Israel)Regarding: The request for an apology to the government of Turkey for the events aboard the Mavi Marmara of the Gaza flotilla.I would like to apologize to you in the name of the entire state of Israel for the fact that the state of Israel did not take sufficient care to check the terrorist ship Marmara before it left Turkey. That would have prevented the ship from being armed with guns and other weapons, and from transporting terrorist activists under the patronage of the Turkish government.Because of our excellent relationship, and your great respect for the state of Israel and the Zionist enterprise, I must apologize for the fact that the naval commandos who, when they reached the ship, were greeted by armed terrorist resistance that aimed to murder them did not immediately defend themselves with gunfire, and instead acted with restraint toward the pretend “peace activists” who sought to kill them.Apologies for the fact that the commandos acted carefully, taking into account the presence of civilians on the ship, and killed only nine terrorists. If the state authorities had known that there were terrorists on the ship, the order would have been given to kill any person endangering our troops. With your permission, one more apology is necessary, for Israel’s decision to release the dangerous terror supporters who were on the ship and not put them on trial for attempted murder, and even to pay for their tickets home. And finally, please accept our full and heartfelt apology, for not asking the United Nations to censure Turkey, and for not demanding an investigation into the connection between the IHH terrorist organization, your party and you, Mr. Erdogan.Warm wishes,MK Danny Danon, speaking on behalf of the Israeli Knesset.Hmmm....Now that's my kind of apology !Read the full story here.

  • Rep. Bachmann: Tax Bill Violates Article 1, Section 7 of U.S. Constitution.Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) told CNSNews.com that the tax bill passed by the Senate on Wednesday violates the U.S. Constitution.“Article 1, section 7 says that all revenue bills originate in the House and that is our province and, of course, this originated in the Senate,” she told CNSNews.com in an interview Wednesday on Capitol Hill. The House of Representatives is expected to vote on the tax deal passed by the Senate on Thursday or Friday. The bill was the result of a deal cut between President Barack Obama and Republican congressional leaders.Article 1, Section 7 of the Constitution states: “All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.”In a videotaped interview, Bachmann told CNSNews.com: “It’s a perfect example of what’s wrong in Washington, which is members of Congress not listening or reflecting [on] the Constitution or the role of the people. That’s why in January I’m starting new classes and seminars on the Constitution for members of Congress.”Read the full story here.

  • HT:TheAmericanDream.Desperation Sets In: More Than 100,000 People Apply For Low Paying Flight Attendant Positions With Delta Air Lines. All across America, job seekers are becoming increasingly desperate. Today, unemployed Americans often find themselves competing against hundreds or even thousands of other job applicants for the same position. An absolutely stunning example of this happened recently when more than 100,000 people applied for just 1,000 open flight attendant positions with Delta Air Lines. The starting salary for these positions is only "in the upper $20,000s", and serving peanuts and sodas to cranky passengers can get really old really fast. But this just shows how desperate people are becoming. For many unemployed Americans, any job is a good job at this point. Right now there are approximately 5 unemployed Americans for every single job opening, and 6 million Americans have been out of work for 6 months or longer. When you get that many unemployed people fighting over so few positions the desperation in the air becomes almost palpable.Hmmmm...."Change you can see?"Read the full story here.

  • VA Attorney General: If We Lose, Government 'Will Be Able To Order' People To Buy Anything. Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli told CNSNews.com that the federal government will be able to “order” individuals to purchase any product or service if the individual mandate in health care law is determined to be constitutional by the Supreme Court.Federal judge Henry Hudson for the Eastern District of Virginia ruled that the individual mandate was unconstitutional on Monday. Cuccinelli predicts that the case will ultimately lie in the hands in the Supreme Court.“Unfortunately, it could affect an awful lot of different areas because then Congress has an incredibly broad power. They can try to affect and direct the economy just by ordering people to buy particular products,” Cuccinelli told CNSNews.com in Richmond after the ruling in his case was announced.Cuccinelli then provided an example of the power he says the government would have should he lose the case over the individual mandate in the health care law, which requires every individual to purchase health insurance.“I drive a car, you know, brand X, maybe I don’t like brand X, those are the ones that don’t do as well in the market because they are not as good cars and those are the ones that seem to get subsidized,” he said.“Well, instead of giving direct subsidizes now or buying the stock of GM, we’ll order Americans to buy product XX which if we lose this case, the federal government will have to power to do that, to positively impact the economy by ordering people to spend and that is an incredible power that the founding fathers would have never have envisioned for the Congress and the President and yet that’s exactly what they’re attempting to exercise in this legislation.”Hmmmm....Sounds like Stalinisme is back?Read the full story here.

  • Asia Bibi “can be killed anytime,” Pakistani priest says. The fight over blasphemy continues unabated in Pakistan as appeals and initiatives on behalf of Asia Bibi, a jailed Christian woman sentenced to death, continue around the world. Next week, the High Court in Lahore is expected to set the date for her appeal. However, the most extremist Islamic parties and organisations have launched a campaign in favour of Pakistan’s blasphemy legislation, announcing street actions and strikes over the coming weeks. The Rev Samson Dilawar, a parish priest who was wounded by gunmen in 1997 and saw his Catholic church burned to the ground in 2005, has been threatened by anonymous callers for assisting Asia Bibi.He said that Bibi is not safe in prison. The murder last year of a young Christian man accused of blasphemy in nearby Sialkot is a cautionary tale.“That boy was killed in the jail. She can also be murdered in the jail as well. She can be killed anytime. So anything can happen," Rev Dilawar said.Read the full story here.

  • HT:CanadaFreePress. The Obama Administration Fights For Sharia Law At The Expense of Public School Students. The ‘Is it Legal?’ segment of The O’Reilly Factor last night dealt with a disturbing decision by the Obama Justice Department that has received very little publicity. It is yet another example of the Obama administration’s policy of accommodation to Islamic sharia law, irrespective of its impact on our own society.Attorney General Eric Holder has decided to sue a suburban Chicago school district for denying a Muslim middle school female teacher three weeks of unpaid leave to abandon her students and make a pilgrimage to Mecca. The teacher wanted to perform the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia which every adult Muslim is supposed to make at least once in a lifetime if he or she is able to do so.Ironically, the Obama administration is suing over a practice that discriminates against women. Under Islamic law, a woman is not allowed to perform Hajj alone and must be accompanied by an adult Muslim Mahram (father, husband, son or brother etc.). And for an administration that claims it regards a quality education for our public school students to be one of its highest priorities, it is willing to fight for the “right” of a Muslim teacher to abandon the students in her charge so that she can trek to Mecca for a few weeks. As usual, the Obama administration is pandering to accommodate the demands of the radical Muslim community. Obama is fulfilling his promise to the Muslim world, made during his Cairo speech last year, “to avoid impeding Muslim citizens from practicing religion as they see fit.”Khan saw fit to leave her students for about ten percent of the school year because she desired to perform her pilgrimage when, and for however long, she desired. Why now when Khan has a lifetime to fulfill her religious duty (provided that she has a male Muslim accompanying her)? And why did she ask for a three week leave when all the essential duties of the pilgrimage are normally performed in 5 to 6 days?Barack Obama and his Attorney General Eric Holder are willing to subordinate American values of individual liberty, freedom of expression and equal treatment under the law in order to accommodate radical Muslims’ special demands in “practicing religion as they see fit.”Radical Muslims are exploiting our democratic system and using the irreproachable shield of “religion” to disguise a barbaric system of oppressive sharia laws. Rather than accommodate them, Western democracies must instead challenge the ideas and methods of radical Islamists at every turn.Hmmmm.....I thought religion and schools were separated?Read the full story here.

  • HT:ChristianMonitor.Germany applies anti-Nazi laws in crackdown on Salafi Islamic groups. German authorities hardened a crackdown on Islamic groups yesterday, raiding homes and schools that reportedly belong to adherents of fundamentalist Salafi Islam.German officials said the preemptive raids, conducted under German anti-Nazi laws of association, were aimed at uncovering unconstitutional or separatist acts and not part of an international terror hunt. The raids targeted the Islamic Cultural Center of Bremen, on the North Sea, along with a group calling itself Invitation to Paradise in two small northwest German cities. Invitation to Paradise's leader has called for sharia, or Islamic law, to prevail one day but has specifically opposed using violence to impose it.Hmmmm....."The best forestguard is an ex  poacher"?Read the full story here.

  • HT:TheMiddleEastForum.Iran with Nuclear Weapons.Anticipating the Consequences for U.S. Policy.Iran with Nuclear Weapons is an indispensable contribution to the discussion that should be taking place about Tehran's nuclear program and its logical endpoint: What might happen following the acquisition of an offensive nuclear capability by Iran, and how is the Iranian regime likely to behave as a result?Through the use of three distinct behavioral models, Davis and Pfaltzgraff—respectively the executive vice president and president of the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Institute for Foreign Policy Analysis—analyze how an Iran with nuclear weapons is likely to behave under adverse internal conditions (such as those that have prevailed since the country's fraudulent elections in June 2009); how a consolidated regime in Tehran might wield its nuclear deterrent; and how such an entity would weather external challenges to its regional position. What emerges is a sophisticated analysis predicated upon the idea of "alternative futures"—the understanding that Iran's behavior can and will be shaped in a number of different directions by the confluence of domestic and international drivers.Read the full story here.

  • Manhunt Underway for Suspected Bandit in Border Agent's Killing.A shootout between border patrol agents and bandits near Arizona's troubled boundary with Mexico has left one American agent dead and a suspect wounded, a union leader says. The clash Tuesday night came after agents spotted suspected bandits known for targeting illegal immigrants along a violent smuggling corridor in the Arizona desert, National Border Patrol Council President T.J. Bonner said.Brian A. Terry, 40, was waiting with three other agents in a remote area north of the border city of Nogales late Tuesday when the gun battle erupted, Bonner said. Terry died in the shooting, but no other agents were injured.Border Patrol spokesman Eric Cantu and FBI spokeswoman Brenda Lee Nath declined to confirm Bonner's account but said that authorities have four suspects in custody and are searching for a fifth. The Border Patrol declined to reveal the country of origin of the suspects.

  • HT:investigativeproject.MPAC(Muslim Public Affairs Council)Conference Features Radicals. One of the nation's leading Islamist political organizations hosts its annual convention this weekend, opting to showcase a slew of radicals and terror apologists on its program. The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) is calling this Saturday's conference at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, "The Struggle for America's Conscience ."Among the invited speakers is a leader of a Virginia mosque whom law enforcement officials consider to be "associated with Islamic extremists," a director of a group founded by the Muslim Brotherhood with a history of radical statements, and MPAC officials with their own record of undermining law enforcement counter-terror efforts. In addition, a White House aide responsible for outreach to the Muslim world is scheduled to appear. But even he has a record of criticizing American terrorism prosecutions and policies. That's on top of the rhetoric put forth by the host group MPAC, which rails against law enforcement terrorism investigations and has argued that the U.S. is wrong to designate Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups.Convention topics include "Islamophobia, U.S.-Muslim world relations, terrorism, violent extremism, civil rights, homeland security, bigotry, civic engagement, war, reform." It would be refreshing if that leads to a frank assessment of what is driving a spike in homegrown terrorist plots during the past two years, including recent arrests in Portland , Baltimore and Virginia .But the titles of the MPAC convention panels, and the people chosen to speak on them, suggest that developing strategies to combat terrorism will take a back seat to yet another pity party in which the problems of rising jihadist thought are blamed on American law enforcement or "Islamophobes."The first panel, dedicated to the "State of our Union," draws primarily on MPAC-friendly policymakers, including Executive Director Salam al-Marayati; Rashad Hussain, President Obama's Special Envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference; and Reem Salahi, a self-styled civil rights attorney. While claiming publicly to be working towards greater integration into the United States, each of these three have a history of radicalism.Hmmm........What no representatives for Homeland Security?Read the full story here.

  • HT:RightSideNews.United States Should Shoot Down U.N. Small Arms Treaty. The Obama administration recently appointed a negotiator to work with the United Nations on a treaty to regulate international trade in small arms. The ostensible goal is to staunch the flow of illegal weapons to drug cartels, terrorists and guerillas. This proposal is consistent with the 1997 Inter-American Convention Against the Illicit Firearms Trafficking in the Americas (CIFTA) signed by President Clinton, but never ratified by the Senate. The Obama administration reversed the policy of the Bush administration, which opposed U.S. participation in such a treaty as a matter of principle and policy. The World Bank estimates that there are more than 500 million firearms available worldwide, but many countries do not disclose information on firearms manufacturing, sales or exports. There is no evidence that U.S. participation in the small arms treaty would do anything to decrease the illicit flow of small arms, but it would threaten citizens' constitutional right to own and use firearms. For instance, such a treaty might require federal licensing and registration of any firearms possessed by individuals.Hmmmm.....The "plan" that nobody wants to mention out of fear for the NRA?Read the full story here.

  • HT:RightSideNews.Brooklyn NY: Al Noor Islamic School Spreading the Islamic History of War and Conquest. As promised, here is my continuing series on Islamic schools in America. Today’s subject is the Al Noor Islamic school, located at 675 4th Avenue Brooklyn NY.Lets see what they are all about.Al-Noor has attained a K-12 status, and established itself as the largest Islamic School in New York with a student population of 623 (Elementary School: 435 students; High School: 188 students). Al-Noor is very much concerned with the general academic development of its students, their morals, values, and identity as Muslims. The efforts of the administration and faculty have proven that Al-Noor can offer its students a quality education to enter the best colleges. These kids are being taught about Islamic expansionism, and that it is good to lay your life on the line for Islam. Is this part of the assimilation process? What you can see after reading this is that, these children are being taught about Islamic war and conquest. These are teachings that non-Muslims should know, but this knowledge in the hands of young Muslims could easily lead to trouble. Including a possible future Islamic led civil war within America.Hmmm.....School or indoctrination?Read the full story here.

  • Wiesenthal Center tells Jews not to travel to Sweden.Human rights organization issues travel advisory because Jews in Sweden "have been subject to anti-Semitic taunts and harassment."The Simon Wiesenthal Center, the Los Angeles-based human rights organization, has taken the unusual step of issuing a travel advisory about security concerns in Sweden because of growing anti-Jewish discrimination. The Jewish community registered under 700 Jews earlier this year but the number has steadily decreased due to anti-Jewish hostility and a local government, which, according to critics, foments modern anti-Semitism.Dr. Samuels, from the Wiesenthal Center, said “ It is unacceptable in a democracy committed to protecting its citizens, that the Swedish Jewish community is forced to pay for necessary upgraded security measures to safeguard their lives and property.”Rabbi Schneur Kesselson, Chabad’s emissary to Malmö, told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday that he had been harassed dozens of times by locals since he moved there six years ago.Read the full story here.

  • Obama sues BP for billions over Gulf Coast oil devastation (but Halliburton escapes the suit). The U.S. Justice Department today launched a massive lawsuit against BP in a bid to recover billions of dollars from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. In the first legal action brought by the Obama administration over the disaster, BP and eight other companies are accused of violating U.S. environmental and pollution laws. But astonishingly, Haliburton, the American firm under suspicion of causing the leak, was not mentioned in the lawsuit.Announcing the move, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said it was only the ‘first step’ in holding the British-based oil giant and other firms blamed for the spill accountable for the ‘devastation’ on the Gulf Coast. He said a criminal probe was still continuing ‘day and night’ to find out who was responsible for the Deepwater Horizon rig explosion in April that killed eleven workers and released about 200million gallons of oil into the ocean.A government aide said other companies that were not targetted by the Justice Department lawsuit could be added later if government lawyers decide that the evidence warrants it.Hmmmm....And crows will wear stiletto heels?Read the full story here.

  • Muslim hotel staff allege discrimination on Israeli visit.Muslim employees of Washington's Mandarin Oriental say were barred from floors where Barak's delegation was staying. Crowley: A lot of disinformation surrounding complaint. Muslim employees of a Washington hotel alleged that they were discriminated against when Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak visited at the weekend, a group representing them said Wednesday. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) sent a protest letter to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel's management on behalf of the employees who alleged they were barred from floors where the Israeli delegation was staying. The hotel said in a statement that it complied with instructions from the State Department which had asked to check the list of employees scheduled to work while the delegation was visiting on December 10 and December 11. State Department spokesman Philip Crowley confirmed that "routine" checks were done but said there is "a lot of disinformation" surrounding the complaint from the employees. "We do routine law enforcement background checks on all individuals who may have access to or working in the vicinity of the delegation or official that we're protecting," Crowley said."Where we have concerns based on these criminal record checks we may request that the hotel limits their staff access to the delegation," he added. "But at no time do these checks include questions regarding religious or political affiliation," he said. "The State Department's diplomatic security did not bar any person form the hotel."Hmmmm......Now CAIR is complaining about the State department?Read the full story here.

  • 1,000 detained in Moscow to prevent ethnic clashes.Fearing more clashes between racist hooligans and ethnic minorities, Russian police detained 1,000 people in a standoff near a Moscow train station Wednesday, taking a strong stance against far right extremists after weekend rioting left dozens injured.Hundreds of riot police outside the Kievsky station hauled mostly young men and teenagers shouting racist slogans into police vans. Some were lined up against buses and searched by police. Officers confiscated an arsenal of weapons, including knives and metal bars, police spokesman Viktor Biryukov said.Resentment has been rising among Slavic Russians over the growing presence in Moscow and elsewhere of people from the southern Caucasus region, the home of numerous ethnic groups, most of them Muslim. People from other parts of the former Soviet Union, including Central Asia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, also face ethnic discrimination and are frequent victims of hate crimes. The train station is popular with street merchants from the Caucasus. The majority of those detained were Slavic Russians shouting racist slogans and calling for violence, although some ethnic minorities from the Caucasus were also taken into custody.A video where anti-Caucasus slogans were interlaced with footage of ethnic minorities from southern Russia beating up policemen and Slavic men was posted on the website of the Spartak fan club Wednesday."They don't respect our traditions," the slogans said in reference to the Caucasus natives. "Now is the time to show them who's in charge. They went too far."President Dmitry Medvedev urged police Monday not to hesitate to use force to put down riots, saying that leaving hate crimes unpunished would jeopardize stability.Hate attacks in Russia peaked in 2008, when 115 people were killed and nearly 500 wounded, according to Sova, an independent watchdog. Some Russia experts noted links between nationalist groups and some part of officialdom when hard-liners within the government may be supporting the nationalists to justify tight Kremlin controls and fend off efforts to open up Russia's political system.Opposition groups claim that pro-Kremlin youth organizations have hired soccer fans and racists to carry out attacks on Kremlin critics.Hmmmm....Pogroms are nothing new in Mother Russia.Read the full story here.

  • NRA-led gun lobby wields powerful influence over ATF, U.S. politics.Behind the scenes, federal agents in charge of stopping gun trafficking to Mexico have quietly advanced a plan to help stem the smuggling of high-powered AK-47s and AR-15s to the bloody drug war south of the border. The controversial proposal by officials at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives calls for a measure strongly opposed by the National Rifle Association: requiring gun dealers to report multiple sales of rifles and shotguns to ATF. The gun issue is so incendiary and fear of the NRA so great that the ATF plan languished for months at the Justice Department, according to some senior law enforcement officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity but would not provide details. The NRA got wind of the idea last month and warned its 4 million members in a "grassroots alert" that the administration might try to go around Congress to get such a plan enacted as an executive order or rule. An ATF spokesman declined to comment about the matter. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. declined to be interviewed. Matt Miller, a spokesman for the Justice Department, said "the administration continues to support common-sense measures to stem gun violence." In the past few days, the plan has quietly gained traction at Justice. But sources told The Post they fear that if the plan becomes public, the NRA will marshal its forces to kill it.Hmmmm....Only can you count on Obama to follow the rules?Read the full story here.

The cold now sweeping over Europe and other parts of the globe are due to natural cycles, says . He points out that the first 2 weeks of December in Britain have been the coldest since the last little ice age 350 years ago, and claims some climate models have criminally under-estimated solar influence on climate and that we ought to expect colder winters, and expanding Arctic ice in the years ahead. • The Bitter Bite of Winter, Food Shortages Coming?Almost six months ago an Italian physicist was showing satellite photos of a diminishing Gulf current because of the oil disaster and now below you will see a video interview of an actual Earl of Sterling talking extensively about its collapse. This does not explain the early and bitter record-breaking weather in the United States but it is disastrous news for parts of Europe and actually perhaps the whole world, which is already in the middle of dramatic climate change—and now this. These next few months are going to be an LSD trip for humanity as it will probably get wild and crazy. Top physicists are still trying to tell us what is happening in the neighborhood, I mean in the heart of the solar system. They are saying we are going into a Grand Minimum of Solar Activity.Meaning it is not going to be very nice (to say the least) to live anywhere near the extreme latitudes.Habibullo Abdussamatov, an astrophysicist and head of space research at St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, stated that solar activity caused the climate change on earth. Abdussamatov contends, “Long-term variations in the amount of solar energy reaching the earth are the principal reasons driving and defining the whole mechanism of climatic changes from the global warmings to the little ice ages to the big glacial periods.” He predicts that earth will enter a “little ice age as early as 2014 and lasting as long as two centuries. The last one occurred between 1650 and 1850 and accounted for many crop failures, outbreaks of famines, and mass migrations.Hmmm.....Read the full story here.

  • And now for something completely different.NASA: By the way, maybe the next ice age is imminent.According to scientists' models of Earth's orbit and orientation toward the Sun indicate that our world should be just beginning to enter a new period of cooling -- perhaps the next ice age. However, a new force for change has arisen: humans.Other important forcings of Earth's climate system include such "variables" as clouds, airborne particulate matter, and surface brightness. Each of these varying features of Earth's environment has the capacity to exceed the warming influence of greenhouse gases and cause our world to cool.Hmmm...After global heating now global freezing? • And now for something completely Different. The day Niagara Falls ran dry: Newly-discovered photos show the moment the iconic waterfall came to a standstill. It's taken 41 years, but a previously unseen set of photos of the mighty Niagara Falls reduced to nothing more than a barren cliff-top have finally surfaced. The stark images reveal North America's iconic - and most powerful - waterfall to be almost as dry as a desert. In June 1969, U.S. engineers diverted the flow of the Niagara River away from the American side of the falls for several months.Their plan was to remove the large amount of loose rock from the base of the waterfall, an idea which they eventually abandoned due to expense in November of that year.During the interim, they studied the riverbed and mechanically bolted and strengthened a number of faults to delay the gradual erosion of the American Falls. The team, made up of U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, blew up their temporary dam in November 1969 and six million cubic feet of water once again thundered over the falls' sides every minute. Now, after lying unseen for more than four decades, a set of images showing the eerie calm at the American Falls that year have been unearthed by a man from Connecticut.Read And see the full story here.
