  • Latest official Situation Update No. 67. On 31.03.2011 at 03:30 GMT+2

Radioactive iodine has been found in ocean water near the plant at 3,355 times the regulatory limit on Tuesday. Monitoring data detected the I-131 isotope at excessive levels 330 metres away from one of the plant's discharge points, Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency said. "I do not believe there's an immediate threat to fishery products, as no fishing is being conducted within 20 kilometres of the nuclear power plant," Hidehiko Nishiyama of the agency reported. Radiation levels recorded at a village outside the evacuation zone around the quake-stricken Fukushima nuclear plant are above safe levels, the UN atomic watchdog says. The International Atomic Energy Agency said safe limits had been exceeded at Iitate village, 40km northwest of Fukushima, well outside the government-imposed 20km exclusion zone and the 30km "stay indoors" zone. "The first assessment indicates that one of the IAEA operational criteria for evacuation is exceeded in Iitate village," the IAEA's head of nuclear safety and security, Denis Flory said. The watchdog had advised Japanese authorities to "carefully assess the situation and they have indicated that it is already under assessment," Flory said.

But he said the IAEA - which does not have the mandate to order national authorities to act - was not calling for a general widening of the exclusion zone. Advice had been given to "carefully assess the situation and they have indicated that it is already under assessment," he said. The reading in Iitate was merely a spot reading, he said. "Deposition of radioactivity is something which is not the same everywhere, it depends on wind, it depends on rain and also on profile of terrain," Flory said. "Saying at one point that there is a need to assess further does not mean that all around that is a concern." But he said that overall, the situation at Fukushima "remains very serious." According to Elena Buglova, head of the IAEA's Incident and Emergency Centre, the reading in Iitate village was 2 megabecquerels per square metre. That was a "ratio about two times higher than levels" at which the agency recommends evacuations, she explained. Source .

  • Fukushima reactors may need ad hoc temporary cooling “for years”.As dangerously high levels of radiation spread beyond the Fukushima exclusion zone in Japan, there are fears the race to contain the nuclear crisis has been lost and meltdown has already taken place.Radiation measured at a village 40 kilometres from the Fukushima nuclear plant now exceeds a criterion for evacuation, the UN nuclear watchdog said. And a Japanese nuclear expert has warned crews may have to keep pouring cooling water onto the stricken reactors for years…..Prime minister Naoto Kan says he is considering enlarging the evacuation area to force 130,000 people to move in addition to the 70,000 already displaced. The indications are the most serious nuclear crisis in 25 years is getting worse.Richard Lahey, head of safety research for this type of reactor at General Electric, which installed the reactors at Fukushima in the 1970s, says workers at the site appear to have lost the race to save the crippled No. 2 reactor. This would mean in simple terms the accident is no longer a matter of melting fuel rods, but of meltdown. That situation is reminiscent of Chernobyl where the plant needed to be covered with a concrete sarcophagus to seal it off. However Dr Lahey says there is no danger of a Chernobyl-style catastrophe because in that case the plant exploded releasing a massive amount of radioactive steam. The situation in Japan would still be immense environmental damage in the localised area.Hiroto Sakashita, a nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics professor at Hokkaido University, says the other reactors and cooling ponds will take years to cool.“They will just have to keep on pouring and pouring but contaminated water will keep leaking out,” he told The New York Times.Japan’s Nuclear Safety Agency has confirmed radioactive iodine in the sea near Fukushima at 3,355 times the normal level.Meanwhile, IAEA head of nuclear safety and security Denis Flory says he has heard there might be “recriticality” at the Fukushima plant, in which a nuclear chain reaction would resume, even though the reactors were automatically shut down at the time of the quake. He says this could lead to more radiation releases but it would not be “the end of the world”.“Recriticality does not mean that the reactor is going to blow up,” he said.“It may be something really local. We might not even see it if it happens.”Read the full story here.

  • Al Qaeda to Obama: Thanks!Toppling Arab governments feeds Islamist revolution.President Obama’s advisers give him credit for energizing the Arab revolts and saving the Libyan rebels. For al Qaeda’s leadership, this is all a gift from Allah.Al Qaeda second-in-command Ayman al Zawahiri, in several pieces, exults in the various opportunities being presented by the chaos in the Mideast, and like Mr. Obama, he does not want to be tied down to a “cookie-cutter” doctrine. “I am unable here to offer a single prescription for change in every country,” he writes, “because every country has its own circumstances and conditions.” He does specify that when peaceful means of bringing about Islamist rule are inadequate, violence is mandatory.Reports of the growing influence of al Qaeda and other radical groups in Libya raise the question of exactly what Mr. Obama’s end game is for Operation Odyssey Dawn. “Protecting civilians” is an objective but not a strategy. If the Libyan uprising succeeds through the support of coalition arms and the country falls under the sway of Islamic radicals - who could well perpetrate their own bloodbath - it would be worse than if Moammar Gadhafi had been left to win the civil war two weeks ago. The question then would be what sense intervention made in the first place.Overall, al Qaeda sees a positive prognosis for regional jihadism. “It is our opinion that the revolutions that are shaking the thrones of dictators are good for the Muslims, good for the [mujaheedin] and bad for the imperialists of the West and their henchmen in the Muslim world,” Mr. Ibrahim writes. “We are very optimistic and have great expectations of what is to come.” The al Qaeda leadership hasn’t been this excited since Sept. 10, 2001.Hmmmm.....Can we start impeachment now?Read the full story here.

  • HT:BigGovernment.Barack Obama’s Oil Lease LIES!How do you know which parts of Obama’s energy speech were either lies or misrepresentations? The parts where his mouth was moving. This morning President Obama outline his energy policy which is comprised of trying to pull the energy policy wool over America’s eyes.Once again he wants to present “incentives” for the energy industry to drill on existing leases. You see, his feeling about the oil executives is the same as his feeling about the American people, they are complete and total idiots, paying for leases but not bothering to take the product out of the ground so they can make money. All of those stupid executives (according to the POTUS) run their companies by paying fees instead of collecting revenue. getting the product out of the ground so they can make money. This is nothing but Presidential subterfuge. What the President is not telling you is that these oil leases purchased by oil companies is for exploration and drilling, not just drilling. Oil is not equally distributed across the each potential drilling location, there are unlucky oil companies that get stuck with a lease for a parcel that doesn’t hold any oil. What make those companies really unlucky is that the parcel right next to them might be the new Saudi Arabia.Even if the leased location is a bonanza of black gold, that oil company still might not be drilling. This may be surprising (not), but there is a lot of red tape to get through once you find oil on a site before you start drilling. This red tape has gotten even more complicated during the Obama administration. Even if everything runs smoothly, it can take years for companies who own a lease to complete their exploration activities, and more years to move from exploration to drilling. The truth is, ever since Barack Obama took office he has been making it more difficult to exploit our own energy resources and his latest energy policy consists of making America more dependent on foreign oil. If he is allowed to continue our economy may collapse under the weight of higher energy prices.Hmmmm....If he wanted to destroy America would he do anything different?Read and see the full story here.

  • HT:TranslatingJihad.American Muslim Leader Issues Fatwa Against Democracy.Translated from the website of Dr. Salah al-Sawy, the secretary-general of the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA), 28 March 2011:Between the Shura and Democracy
Q: What is the difference between the Shura and democracy, and which is preferred? Are there any books which could benefit me on this topic? May Allah reward you well.

A: In the name of Allah, the most merciful and gracious.
Praise be to Allah, and peace be upon him the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family, companions, and those that follow him. The Shura comes from the rulings of the shari'a, and an entire surah of the Qur'an was sent down with this name. The difference between it and democracy is that the Shura does not exist (under Islam) except in the areas of permissible actions or legislative amnesty. For things which have been stipulated in the texts of Islam, the Ummah possesses no power except to acknowledge and obey, following the saying of the Most High: "It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path" [Qur'an 33:36]. For example, it is not for the Shura to consider, "Should the noon prayer contain four or five bows?" Or, "Should we fast during the month of Ramadan, or should we replace it with the month of Shawwal?" Or, "Should we forbid wine or allow it?" Or, "Should we forbid adultery, or permit it if it's done by consensual agreement of those who have reached the legal age, and it's not done on the married couple's bed?"
Al-Bukhari said in his Sahih: "The Imams after the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) would consult the trustworthy scholars in things which were permissible, to take the best option. But if the Qur'an or the Sunnah was clear on the matter, they wouldn't transgress against it, following the example of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The reciters of the Qur'an would consult, whether old or young, and they were careful to adhere to the book of Almighty Allah." But democracy gives free reign to the authority of the Ummah, and puts no ceiling on it. The law is the expression of its will, and if the law says it, the conscience must be silent! A constitutionalist even said: "We have departed from the divine right to rule for kings, and replaced it with the divine right to rule for parliaments!" The shari'a, on the other hand, differentiates between the source of the legal system and the source of the political authority. The source of the legal system is the shari'a, while the source of the political authority is the Ummah. Meanwhile democracy makes the Ummah the source of both. On my website there is a book named "Political Pluralism." If you review it, it will you benefit you in regards to this topic, Allah-willing. Allah Almighty is all-powerful, all-knowing.Read the full story here.

  • Pant Suits: Despite Arms Embargo, UN Resolution Allows Us To Arm Libyan Rebels. The United States paved the way to arming rebel groups in Libya as leaders from nearly 40 countries met in London to discuss the next moves against Colonel Gaddafi’s regime. The US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, said she believed that UN resolutions allowed for the “legitimate transfer of arms” to the rebels should any country wish to do so. She added that no decision had been made “at this time” by the US on arming the rebels.William Hague, the Foreign Secretary, said that while Libya was under a United Nations-mandated arms embargo that did not mean arming the rebels was impossible. France said it would also consider supplying weapons. “I remind you it is not part of the UN resolution… but we are ready to discuss it with our partners,” the French Foreign Minister, Alain Juppé, said.British sources said weapons supplied to opposition groups would, under the UN resolution, have to be used to “protect civilians”. They did not, however, suggest how this could be verified. Asked about arming the rebels, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jabr al-Thani said: “We have to find a way to stop this bloodshed.”Hmmmm.......Lets arm QAl-qaida to destroy Israel.Read the full story here.

  • House Intel chairman: We shouldn't arm Libyan rebels. The U.S. shouldn't arm Libyan rebels because there's no telling whose hands those weapons could eventually reach, the chairman of the House Select Intelligence Committee said.“As we publicly debate next steps on Libya, I do not support arming the Libyan rebels at this time," Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) said in a statement Wednesday. "We need to understand more about the opposition before I would support passing out guns and advanced weapons to them. It’s safe to say what the rebels stand against, but we are a long way from an understanding of what they stand for."Rogers said the weapons could eventually fall into "the hands of bad actors."“We don’t have to look very far back in history to find examples of the unintended consequences of passing out advanced weapons to a group of fighters we didn’t know as well as we should have,” he said. “Even if you think you know them, you can’t guarantee that those weapons won’t later fall into the hands of bad actors.”Hmmmmm......Why would an anti-gun President arm al-qaida fighters?Read the full story here.

  • The most 'transparant' president receives his openess award in secret!President Obama finally and quietly accepted his “transparency” award from the open government community this week — in a closed, undisclosed meeting at the White House on Monday. The secret presentation happened almost two weeks after the White House inexplicably postponed the ceremony, which was expected to be open to the press pool. This time, Obama met quietly in the Oval Office with Gary Bass of OMB Watch, Tom Blanton of the National Security Archive, Danielle Brian of the Project on Government Oversight, Lucy Dalglish of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, and Patrice McDermott of OpenTheGovernment.org, without disclosing the meeting on his public schedule or letting photographers or print reporters into the room.Just hours before the White House put off the original event, White House press secretary Jay Carney was defiant in his defense of Obama’s transparency record against criticism that it might have been premature.“This president has demonstrated a commitment to transparency and openness that is greater than any administration has shown in the past, and he’s been committed to that since he ran for President and he’s taken a significant number of measures to demonstrate that,” Carney said in a testy exchange with Fox News reporter Wendell Goler on March 16.Hmmmm.....Why can i only think of Kim Jong-il receiving the same kind of award in the same style?Read the full 'story' here.

  • CAIR Partners With The ACLU To Demand San Francisco And Oakland Police Departments Cease Working With FBI Terror Task Force. When we called attention to a flier published by the Council on American Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) San Francisco chapter in January, urging people to “Build a Wall of Resistance” to the FBI, officials insisted it wasn’t what it looked like.CAIR supports law enforcement, they said, and the poster was created more than 30 years ago. Since then, however, the organization has filed two lawsuits against the FBI. Now, the same chapter that published the anti-FBI flier has joined several other groups in calling on the San Francisco and Oakland Police Departments to stop collaborating with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) immediately. The Department of Justice created the JTTF after 9/11 in order to better coordinate information sharing between federal, state and local law enforcement.CAIR and the other groups argued Tuesday that Bay Area law enforcement assigned to the JTTF would be forced to violate the California Constitution, which prohibits intelligence gathering without reasonable suspicion of criminal activity. Additionally, the groups condemned the police departments for not releasing “their now-secret agreements with the FBI,” which they said would “provide assurances that their officers are adhering to the standards of state and local law.”Hmmmmm....."We don't want to take over your country"?Read the full story here.

  • RCMP allege Toronto man on way to join Somali terror group. The RCMP has arrested a terrorism suspect in Toronto, taking a man into custody as he was about to board a plane. This is the first arrest in Canada relating to Al-Shabaab, the militant Islamist group in Somalia that is recruiting Westerners for its cause. Several dozen Canadian citizens are already feared to have joined the cause.“The suspect was allegedly planning to travel to Somalia to join Al-Shabaab and participate in their terrorist activities,” the Mounties said in a news release. Mohamed Hersi, 25, was arrested at Pearson International Airport Tuesday night. The former University of Toronto sciences student stands accused of planning to participate in terrorist activities and counselling another person to do the same. Mr. Hersi made a brief court appearance in Brampton, Ont., on Wednesday. The matter was put over until Friday. His family was outside the courtroom but would not speak to reporters. The RCMP said he was arrested as he was about to board a plane for Cairo via London with plans to travel to Somalia.A press conference is scheduled for later Wednesday. The joint RCMP-Toronto Police investigation, codenamed Project Severe, began in October. Past terrorism cases in Canada have tended to come to RCMP attention through intelligence agencies and foreign allies. This one is different: It is said to have arisen from the ground up, through gumshoe police work from a municipal force.A tip line exists in Canada that allows energy- and transport-industry officials to notify local police about suspicious activities that may threaten national security. Toronto Police received just such a lead a few months ago, and pursued it through their intelligence division. It was only after the Toronto detectives were satisfied there was a bona fide threat, that federal police with the RCMP national-security squad were called in.The charges announced Wednesday amount to another demonstration of the strength of the Anti-Terrorism Act – the sweeping law passed by Canada’s Parliament in 2001. Unlike past suspects, Mr. Hersi is not alleged to have ever fired a bullet or built a bomb or to have devised any sort of concrete scheme to hatch violence. Rather, prosecutors hope to establish beyond any doubt, that he would have become a terrorist had he been afforded the opportunity to board the plane that was to leave Pearson Tuesday night. Such prosecutions have become commonplace in the United States and other European states, that are also wrestling with the problem of young citizens joining Al-Shabaab. But they have not been attempted before in Canada. Al-Shabaab – which means “the youth” – is an al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group that uses the Internet to draw young recruits from abroad.Hmmmm.....Great job from the RCMP!Read the full story here.

  • "The War on christianity".Anger as schools ban Gideon Bibles to avoid upsetting other faiths.Schools have banned Christians from handing out Bibles to avoid angering other faiths. The Gideons have become famed for handing out signature red Bibles to young children during school assemblies. But they have been told to stay away from some classes because it may spark complaints from different faiths.Abbot Beyne School and Paget High School near Burton On Trent in Staffordshire have made the controversial ban.Maggie Tate, deputy head teacher of Abbot Beyne, said: 'The reason we stopped the Gideons coming in is that we are a comprehensive multi-faith school. We felt it was inappropriate to allow one faith group to distribute material in school.'She said all pupils at Abbot Beyne, Winshill were given moral-themed assemblies and that the school had the highest proportion of pupils in Staffordshire sitting GCSEs in religious education.Headteacher at Paget High School in Branston, Don Smith, also cited multiculturalism as the reason behind the decision to abolish the tradition. He said: 'As a non-denominational school, we do not allow any religious groups to come in and give out literature. If we allowed the Gideons into school then we would have to allow other groups too.'While we teach pupils about different religions, we do not want people coming in to the school and pushing their own religious views.'The decision has caused outrage among Christians, who have accused the schools of trying to silence Christianity.Gideons supporter Barry Martin said: 'We live in a Christian country. I think that if the Gideons want to offer Bibles to children then they should be allowed to do so.'Banning them is not right because these schools are trying to silence Christianity and we must fight to defend it. Christians make this world a better place.' Hmmmm......For two Thousand years Christianity was not a problem, suddenly it is?Read the full story here.

  • HT:TheDailyCaller.Flashback: Obama’s Top Energy Aide Advocated for $10-a-Gallon Gas Prices Like They Have in Europe.During a speech in Washington Wednesday on the need to secure the country’s energy security, President Obama told Americans not to worry: “We’ve been down this road before.”“Remember, it was just three years ago that gas prices topped $4 a gallon,” said Obama. “Working folks haven’t forgotten that. It hit a lot of people pretty hard . . . So here’s the bottom line — there are no quick fixesallon,” said Obama. “Working folks haven’t forgotten that. It hit a lot of people pretty hard . . . So here’s the bottom line — there are no quick fixes.”The president’s speech comes after weeks of rising oil prices and outrage over the administration’s de facto moratorium on offshore drilling. But while Obama talked about the need to produce more oil domestically to help ease the pain at the pump, his chief energy adviser has a history of advocating for high gas prices, once saying, “coal is my worst nightmare.”As director of the Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory, Steven Chu, Obama’s secretary at the Department of Energy, said in an interview that gas taxes should slowly be increased over the next 15 years in order to force people to turn to alternative energy sources.“Somehow, we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to levels in Europe,” said Chu.In Europe, the price for a gallon of gas consistently hovers around $10 a gallon.Hmmm......Reducing oil import by 30 % might do the trick?Destroy ,destroy baby ,destroy!Read the full story here.

  • Next Arab Facebook Campaign: Get Millions to Invade Israel.Palestinian Authority activists have recreated the Third Intifada page that was banned by Facebook on Tuesday in response to thousands of member requests. An Israeli Cabinet minister, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and a massive Internet campaign were only some of the measures used to pressure the popular social networking site into removing the page, which promoted violence against Jews in Israel. But the story doesn't end there, because angry Palestinian Authority sponsors of the page ensured the fight would continue.

A Muslim page similarly entitled "Subscribe now to the Palestinian Intifada," on its logo but which is innocuously entitled "Make the Prophet Number One on Facebook" on the heading is listed under Non-profit Organizations.Easily the largest and most popular Muslim page on Facebook, it espouses peace and offers myriad beneficent comments about Allah and Islam's founder, the Prophet Muhammed. But the Rassoul Allaah page also directs readers to directs readers to a wealth of links to other pages promoting the Third Intifada and a massive attempt to carry out the destruction of the State of Israel.By Wednesday afternoon, the page had garnered more than three million -- 3,293,252 -- votes of support from Facebook members around the world.Organizers have summoned millions of Arabs from across the Middle East to march into Israel and forcibly attempt to implement a de facto “Right of Return,” the Arab euphenism for the mass immigration of several million Arabs. The date for this march has been set for May 15 – the anniversary of what the Arabs refer to as the “Nakba” or “Tragedy“ -- the date of the establishment of the State of Israel.Although some of the pages promoting this campaign have warned its readers to maintain a peaceful demeanor, others do not bother with such niceties. At least one is a complete re-creation of the original Third Palestinian Intifada page that was removed.Third Palestinian Uprising – Persian GulfWithin 24 hours, organizers created the same page under a new name: Third Palestinian uprising – the Persian Gulf answer join our mosque. The page, written entirely in Arabic and listed under the Political Party category, was created at approximately 11:00 a.m. Jerusalem time. “This page has been created after the Facebook page was closed after the uprising, the number of logged-in page to 350,000, at the request of Israel. Accordingly we set up a number of pages to spread news of the uprising. All pages have been created to spread news of the uprising in case the main page is closed once again...”

Under “Likes and Interests” on the page, organizers wrote, “One billion Muslims for the destruction of Israel. Billion Muslim to Exterminate Israel, a campaign one million pro-Aqsa Mosque, a campaign to write the date of the third Palestinian Intifada on the Egyptian currency... the historic march toward Palestine, 15.05.2011 – I am the first volunteer in the United Arab army in the event of a declaration of war on Israel and 5 more...”Posted on the page are various messages, including the notice by the “Million campaign to advocate for the al Aqsa Mosque,” which tells readers, “Save al-Aqsa mosque from injustice, and aggression is our goal.”
Hatred Hurled at Zuckerberg
A new page was started as soon as Facebook removed the Third Palestinian Intifada to express the disappointment and in many cases, hatred of Facebook's Arab readers at being stymied. The page, Mark Zuckerberg is the next dictator to Go, proclaims as its slogan, “Reopen the Third Palestinian Intifada Page now!”On that page, more than a few readers have issued ultimatums and warnings of their own.“Do not be like the Israelis criminals,” wrote Mustafa Hashem Safi. “The state of Israel was built on the blood and the skulls of the innocent Palestinian people since 1948 .. Israelis stole our land and killed out sons and drove us out of our country under duress, a fact that Israel .. And you know that your money and billions of dollars owned are not worth a drop of blood for our son Palestinian.”“Message to staff in the Department of facebook: You have 48 hours to return the official page Third of the Palestinian uprising, or boycott the province on facebook will be Thursday, 31/03/2011” wrote one.“...you are a moron serving the Zionists...”“Dear Mark... you can remove the page but the third intifada has already begun. Its the awakening of the global consciousness to the crimes of the zionist entity... its BDS.. You caved in to the ADL....your a puppet...”Hmmmm......As i said before a Stuxnet type of virus would do the trick, perhaps infect at the same time all sympathisers as well?Read the full story here.

  • HT:KleinVerzet.Time to unmask Muhammed. To know why Islam is a mortal danger one must not only consider the Koran but also the character of Muhammad, who conceived the Koran and the entirety of Islam. That is what Geert Wilders has told the nation in an article in struggling left-wing magazine HP De Tijd (NL).

Once again Geert Wilders came out guns blazing, educating the masses about the 'prophet' that established islam. He candidly repeats the indefatigable Ali Sani, stating that Muhammed was a narcissist, a paedophile, a mass murderer, a terrorist, a misogynist, a lecher, a cult leader, a madman, a rapist, a torturer, an assassin and a looter. Sina, btw, has offered 50,000 dollars for the one who can prove otherwise. Nobody has claimed the reward as yet, writes Wilders. But it doesn't just end there. Wilders also openly discussed what has been said about Muhammeds mental health by various experts.

According to the historian Theophanes (752-817) Muhammad was an epileptic. Epileptic crises are sometimes accompanied by hallucinations, perspiration form the forehead and foaming at the mouth, the very symptoms which Muhammad displayed during his visions.
In his book “The other Muhammad” (1992) the Flemish psychologist dr. Herman Somers concludes that in his forties the “prophet” began to suffer from acromegaly, a condition caused by a tumor in the pituitary gland, a small organ that is situated just below the brain. When the tumor in the pituitary gland causes too much pressure in the brain, people start to see and hear things that are not there. Somers’s psychopathological diagnosis of Muhammad’s condition is: organic hallucinatory affliction with paranoid characteristics.

The German medical historian Armin Geus speaks of a paranoid hallucinatory schizophrenia. A similar analysis can be found in the book “The Medical Case of Muhammad” by the physician Dede Korkut.Read the full story here.

  • Israel releases map of Hezbollah bunkers in Lebanon.Washington Post obtains map detailing bunkers, arms caches, surveillance sites in south Lebanon. IDF official: We want to show world that Shiite group has turned villages into fighting zones. An Israeli security official provided the Washington Post with a map detailing no less than 550 bunkers, 300 surveillance sites and 100 other facilities the Jewish state believes belong to Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon. Most of the sites marked on the map, which appeared in the American newspaper on Wednesday, are located south of the Litani River.According to the map, one of Hezbollah's bunkers is located in a mosque. "In releasing the map, the Israeli military appeared to be trying to preempt international criticism of any future offensive against the alleged sites, many of which are located in residential villages alongside hospitals, schools and even civilian homes," the Post reported.About six months ago then-IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. (res.) Gabi Ashkenazi warned that Hezbollah was establishing "rocket villages" in south Lebanon, adding that the Shiite group was using civilians and UNIFIL's lack of authority to act in order to fortify its positions and rocket launchers inside the villages. • Israel, The Third Nation on the Moon?If all goes according to plan, by December 2012 a team of three young Israeli scientists will have landed a tiny spacecraft on the moon, explored the lunar surface, and transmitted live video back to earth, thereby scooping up a $20 million prize (the Google Lunar X Prize), revolutionizing space exploration, and making the Jewish State the third nation (after the U.S. and Russia) to land a probe on the moon. And they’re doing it in their spare time. The three engineers – Yariv Bash (electronics and computers), Kfir Damari (communication systems), and Yonatan Winetraub (satellite systems) all have high-level day jobs in the Israeli science and technology world, and also both teach and study. They all had heard of the Google Lunar X Prize independently, before being introduced by mutual friends who, as Yonatan puts it “thought we were all crazy enough to do it, so we should meet each other.”By the end of November 2010 they had sketched together a novel plan to win the prize and submitted it to organizers. Only on December 21 (10 days before the December 31 deadline) did they set about raising the $50,000 entry fee. “Like good Israelis we left it to the last minute,” Yonatan laughs.Since then they’ve recruited around 50 volunteers from across the Israeli science and technology community and have gained support from academic institutions, including the prestigious Weizmann Institute of Science (founded in 1933 by Chaim Weizmann, himself a successful chemist who went on to become Israel’s first president). They’re operating as a non-profit (“we’re looking for stakeholders,” says Project Coordinator Ronna Rubinstein), and any winnings will be invested in promoting science among Israeli youth. The X Prize was inspired by the Orteig Prize, and if the “Spirit of Israel” is successful they can certainly count on changing how young Israelis see science and how others see Israel. They may also change how we all see the universe.Hmmmmm......So much for NASA's "Outreach to Muslims"?Read the full story here.

  • HT:TranslatingJihad.Saudi Arabia Warns of "Strict Punishments" for Protesters. The Saudi News Agency (WAS) reported yesterday that the Kingdom is printing 1.5 million copies of a statement issued by the Council of Senior Scholars which prohibits protesting in the Kingdom. Informed sources also stressed that the new regulations on the publishing system in the Kingdom include strict punishments. The WAS said that, "The Grand Mufti authorized a number of governmental and civil institutions to print and distribute more than a million copies." The WAS added that 500,000 copies have already been printed, and that the Council in its statement called "for exertion of all efforts which strengthen unity and lead to harmony." On the same topic, the electronic newspaper "Sabaq" transmitted from its sources that the regulations carried stiff penalties. These were aimed at "achieving a code of conduct for dealing with scholars in the Kingdom, without attacking or criticizing the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and the members of the Council of Senior Scholars. This stems from the desire to have the media reflect the program of the State, which is based on the Book of Allah, the Sunnah, and the Prophet."Read the full story here.

  • "The War on Christianity".Two Indian Christians Languish in Saudi Prison.LOS ANGELES, March 28 (CDN) — Friends and family of two Indian Christians arrested after a prayer meeting in Saudi Arabia in January have tried in vain to secure their release. The two Christians were incarcerated for attending the prayer meeting with other Indian nationals and accused of converting Muslims to Christianity, though the government has not produced formal charges, sources said. Yohan Nese, 31 and Vasantha Sekhar Vara, 28, were arrested on Jan. 21 when mutaween (religious police) raided an apartment where the two had lingered after attending the prayer meeting. Religious police interrogated and beat them to the point that they suffered injuries, according to sources. During this time, religious police who were cursing at them allegedly tore up and trampled on Bibles and Christian material they had confiscated, said a source who spoke to the men.Authorities asked them how many Christian groups and pastors there are in Saudi Arabia and Riyadh and asked their nationalities. The religious police also put pressure on the two to convert to Islam, according to sources. The next morning, Jan. 22, authorities took the two Christians to the Religious Court in Riyadh. The court sentenced them to 45 days in prison. At 2 p.m., police filed a case at the local civil police station, according to a source who requested anonymity. To date the Christian Indians have been in prison for 67 days. Their family and friends say they still have not been able to obtain a document with official charges but know from the prisoners that the charges are religious in nature, according to the source. At the time of their detention, the Christians were not engaging in religious activities. On Jan. 22, 15 mutaween in civilian clothes came back to the apartment they had raided the previous day, destroyed valuable items and wrote Islamic slogans on the walls with spray paint, the source said. Nese and Vara’s situation in prison is “horrible,” said the source. The two men are cramped in a prison cell with only enough room to stand. “There is no place to even sit,” said the source. “Only two hours a day they are sleeping in shifts. When brother Yohan is sleeping, brother Sekhar needs to stand, and when brother Sekhar wants to sleep, brother Yohan needs to stand. They have been doing this for more than a month. I don’t know how many more days they have to continue this.” Since the arrest, other Christians have been too frightened to meet for prayer.“Vasantha is from my church,” said his pastor in India, Ajay Kumar Jeldi. “He is very God-fearing, good, prayerful, supporting the pastor and working for the youth.” The morning of his arrest, Vara called Pastor Jeldi and told him he planned to go to the evening prayer meeting in Riyadh. After the meeting, Vara, Nese and four other unidentified Christians lingered at the flat where the gathering had taken place. At around 7:30 p.m. two mutaween in plainclothes and one policeman in uniform raided the apartment. On the phone with his pastor back in India, Vara said he was in prison for religious reasons and that he had been pressured to convert to Islam, but that he had refused. “If I have to die for my God, I will die for him here,” he told Pastor Jeldi. “God will help me.”According to the U.S. Department of State’s 2010 Report on International Religious Freedom, with rare exception, expatriate workers fear government interference with their private worship. The reasons for this interference can range from the worship service being too loud, having too many people in attendance or that it occurs too often in the same place, according to the report.Hmmmmm......Obama "Islam is a great religion".Read the full story here.

  • And now for something completely different.Eye on History: Could lead codices prove ‘the major discovery of Christian history’?
British archaeologists are seeking to authenticate what could be a landmark discovery in the documentation of early Christianity: a trove of 70 lead codices that appear to date from the 1st century CE, which may include key clues to the last days of Jesus' life. As UK Daily Mail reporter Fiona Macrae writes, some researchers are suggesting this could be the most significant find in Christian archeology since the Dead Sea scrolls in 1947.
The codices turned up five years ago in a remote cave in eastern Jordan—a region where early Christian believers may have fled after the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 CE. The codices are made up of wirebound individual pages, each roughly the size of a credit card. They contain a number of images and textual allusions to the Messiah, as well as some possible references to the crucifixion and resurrection. Some of the codices were sealed, prompting yet more breathless speculation that they could include the sealed book, shown only to the Messiah, mentioned in the Book of Revelation. One of the few sentences translated thus far from the texts, according to the BBC, reads, "I shall walk uprightly"--a phrase that also appears in Revelation. "While it could be simply a sentiment common in Judaism," BBC writer Robert Pigott notes, "it could here be designed to refer to the resurrection."

But the field of biblical archaeology is also prey to plenty of hoaxes and enterprising fraudsters, so investigators are proceeding with due empirical caution. Initial metallurgical research indicates that the codices are about 2,000 years old--based on the manner of corrosion they have undergone, which, as Macrae writes, "experts believe would be impossible to achieve artificially."Beyond the initial dating tests, however, little is confirmed about the codices or what they contain. And the saga of their discovery has already touched off a battle over ownership rights between Israel and Jordan. As the BBC's Pigott recounts, the cache surfaced when a Jordanian Bedouin saw a menorah—the Jewish religious candleabra—exposed in the wake of a flash flood. But the codices somehow passed into the ownership of an Israeli Bedouin named Hassam Saeda, who claims that they have been in his family's possession for the past 100 years. The Jordanian government has pledged to "exert all efforts at every level" to get the potentially priceless relics returned, Pigott reports.

Meanwhile, biblical scholars who have examined the codices point to significant textual evidence suggesting their early Christian origin. Philip Davies, emeritus professor of Old Testament Studies at Sheffield University, told Pigott he was "dumbstruck" at the sight of plates representing a picture map of ancient Jerusalem. "There is a cross in the foreground, and behind it is what has to be the tomb [of Jesus], a small building with an opening, and behind that the walls of the city," Davies explained. "There are walls depicted on other pages of these books, too, and they almost certainly refer to Jerusalem."

David Elkington, an ancient religion scholar who heads the British research team investigating the find, has likewise pronounced this nothing less than "the major discovery of Christian history." Elkington told the Daily Mail that "it is a breathtaking thought that we have held these objects that might have been held by the early saints of the Church."Hmmm......It's even more surprising that the discovery is made now when Christianity is under assault!Read and see the full story here.
