Egyptian Presidential Contender Calls for Regional Coalition among Iran, Egypt, Turkey.
Egyptian Presidential Contender Calls for Regional Coalition among Iran, Egypt, Turkey.(Fars).Tehran - A prominent Egyptian politician and a candidate in the upcoming presidential election said that severance of ties between Iran and Egypt is solely in the interest of Israel, and called for the establishment of a regional coalition among Iran, Egypt and Turkey. "If I win the race, I will take an initiative to form a coalition with Iran and Turkey in a bid to serve Islam and Arab states," Hamdin Sabahi, an independent candidate, told FNA in Cairo on Saturday. "The coalition will then expand to a Union of Arab and Islamic countries," al-Sabahi added. He said that severance of Tehran-Cairo ties was harmful to Egypt and merely served the interests of Israel and the US. Elaborating on his agenda as Egypt's president, the candidate said if he wins the election Egypt will also establish bilateral ties with all the regional Arab countries. In similar remarks in May 2011, a prominent Lebanese analyst underscored that formation of a coalition among Iran, Turkey and Egypt as well as Syria could undermine hegemonic policies in the region. "Any move fostering close ties among the regional countries and nations would be a barrier against the hegemony of colonialism," Head of the Center for Arab and International Studies Ghalib Qandil told FNA at the time. "Projects that are based on close ties between Iran, Turkey, Egypt and Syria will serve the common interests of the regional nations and governments and will lead to their stronger independence," Qandil reiterated. He further stated that Iran is a "strategic force" in the Middle-East and can form a strong power in region together with Turkey, Egypt and Syria to defend the independence of the Middle-Eastern nations. Also in May 2011, Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council Mohsen Rezayee in a letter to the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had asked for the creation of a united front by Iran, Turkey and Iraq to support the regional nations in their uprisings against their tyrannical rulers. "I ask your eminence and the respectable parliament to show a more proactive spiritual and political support for the rising nations, and don't be afraid of accusations about Iran's interference in the regional countries," Rezayee said in his open letter to President Ahmadinejad. Iran has always announced that it supports the demands of the regional nations, but at the same time avoids interference in their internal affairs.Hmmm......Aren't you glad Obama removed that 'Evil dictator' Mubarak?Read the full story here.
