Violence against women on the rise in Afghanistan, over 3500 cases of violence against women reported during the first 6 months.(Khaama).Officials in the ministry of women affairs of Afghanistan announced over 3500 cases of violence against women have been reported during the first 6 months of the Afghan calendar year. Afghan women affairs minister Husn Banu Ghazanfar said the violence cases were reported during the first 6 months of the year in various provinces of Afghanistan. She said violence against women cases have been less than reported last year for the same period however she said that severe violence cases were reported more this year as compared to last year.
Husn Banu Ghazanfar said, “We noticed more tragic cases this year which were reported last year.”
Suraya Sobhrang a member of the Afghan human rights commission said around 70 murder cases of women and girls were reported during the first 7 months of the Afghan calendar year where majority of the women were beheaded
Afghan women affairs minister Husn Banu Ghazanfar urged that the those individuals involved behind tragic violence should be tried and punished based on the violence against women law. In the meantime Afghan police officials in northeastern Badakhshan province of Afghanistan announced that a woman was killed by her husband in this province. A senior local police official Sakhidad Haidary on Sunday said the assailant man killed her wife along with his brother in law on Saturday night.Hmmm.....This is just the beginning wait till the US Troops are gone.
