Bachmann attacks Obamas over 'life of excess' during address at CPAC.(TheHill).Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) criticized the Obamas for living a "life of excess" in her speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Saturday, questioning the first family's amenities in the face of budget cuts.
“They deserve to live in the White House, they deserve to fly on a private plane… [but] this is a lifestyle that is one of excess," she said.
"We found out there are five chefs on Air Force One. There are two projectionists who operate the White House movie theater. They regularly sleep at the White House in case the first family wants a really, really late show. I don’t mean to be petty here, but can’t they just press the play button?” she asked.
She went on to note that the Obamas have a paid dog-walker, and asked "Why are we doing that when we can’t get a disabled veteran in for a White House tour?”
Bachmann said $1.5 billion in government funds are spent on the White House and amenities.
Hmmmm.....Flashback 2010: "The hard truth is that getting this deficit under control is gonna require some broad sacrifice, and that sacrifice must be shared by the employees of the federal government," Obama said. "After all, small businesses and families are tightening their belts. Their government should, too."Read the full story here.

ReplyDeleteAnd she was where when Bush had five chefs and two projectionists? I've seen some pretty bad examples of Obama being derided for things that were OK or ignored when Bush did them, but this takes the cake for the silliest.
lolwut? if bush did one one hundredth the stuff obama does he would be massively pilloried in the press... while obama gets a pass... really who is the silliest?
DeleteHe did a lot more than one-hundredth the stuff Obama does, it's just that selective memory has taken over. Bush took far more vacation time by this point in his presidency than Obama has, at the same expense, for example. About the only things Obama has done that Bush didn't are push national health care and gun control, though for the latter Bush did try to push through ammunition registration early in his first term.
DeleteVacation numbers so far, according to the conservative Washington Times: Bush racked up 1,020 days of vacation, more than one-third of his presidency. As of January, at the four year point, Obama had taken 131 days.

Why do we need a prevaricator in chief in the first place? Really, the Obamas could go 'poof' - the country would keep running.
ReplyDeleteMurphy's Law 100: Every nation has an idiot that rises to his/her highest level of incompetence and remains there.
ReplyDeleteAmerica must have its "excess n chief" to show the whole world our love for material excess and greed. The Obama's are a perfect example, shows America still has the best of everything. Anything the Mafia can do, our government can do better and get away with it.
