Iran opposes U.S. intervention in Iraq. (Taz).
Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that his country is strongly opposed to any U.S. intervention in Iraq's internal affairs."The Iraqi people, government, and the religious authority are capable of putting an end to the ongoing sedition on their own," he said, Iran's IRNA News Agency reported on June 22.
"The arrogant Western powers, particularly the U.S. government, are behind the current situation in Iraq," he added.
Iran's leader went on to note that those who have sparked the conflict are seeking to undermine the Iraqi nation's achievements, the most important of which is democracy.
"The U.S. has been angered by the high voter turnout in Iraq's parliamentary elections, because it wants Iraq to be dominated," Ayatollah Khamenei said.
"The conflict in Iraq is not between Sunni and Shia Muslims; rather the main conflict involves those who favor to see Iraq join the U.S. camp, and those who favor independence for their country," he concluded. Hmmmm....And we will keep our upgraded & multiplied centrifuges as well.
