Eu[rabian] Parliament Calls for Recognition of Palestine as Independent 'terror' State.(SP).

The European Parliament on Wednesday adopted a resolution calling for the recognition of the Palestinian Authority as a sovereign state.

"[The European Parliament supports] in principle recognition of Palestinian statehood and the two state solution, and believes these should go hand in hand with the development of peace talks, which should be advanced," a press release on the parliament's website said.

The resolution was passed by 498 votes to 88, while 111 abstained.

According to the press release, the European Parliament expressed once again its support for Israel and Palestinian Authority living peacefully as neighbors "with Jerusalem as the capital of both states," strongly condemning all hostilities and acts of terrorism.


The parliament also decided to start a "Parliamentarians for Peace" program to bring together European, Israeli and Palestinian parliamentarians to promote peace and support EU diplomatic efforts.

Palestinians have long desired an independent state in the West Bank region, including East Jerusalem, partially occupied by Israel, and the Gaza Strip. In October, a draft resolution was prepared by the Palestinian Authority, which demanded that Israel end its occupation and move its settlements, considered illegal by the European Parliament, from the territories by November 2016. Hmmm....Accepting a state which is partially made up by terror group Hamas is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!
