Obama 'Admin' quietly transfers 5 Guantanamo Bay detainees to Kazakhstan. (UPI).
Five detainees held at Guantanamo Bay were transferred to Kazakhstan on Tuesday. The Pentagon identified the detainees as Asim Thahit Abdullah al Khalaqi, Muhammed Ali Hussein Khnenah, and Sabri Mohammed Ebrahim al Qurashi, all from Yemen, and two Tunisians, Adel Bin Ahmed Bin Ibrahim Hkiml and Mohammed Abdul Rahman.
The men, held for more than 11 years, were originally detained in Pakistan for suspected ties to al-Qaida or other militant Islamists.
An interagency Guantanamo Review Task Force "unanimously approved" the transfer of the five men after determining they no longer posed a threat to the United States.
"The United States coordinated with the government of Kazakhstan to ensure these transfers took place consistent with appropriate security and humane treatment measures," the Pentagon said in a statement.
A total of 28 detainees were removed from Guantanamo Bay in 2014, 22 of whom were transferred in the past two months. President Barack Obama has said it is his goal to close the detention center.
There are 127 inmates currently at the detention facility, the Pentagon said Tuesday. Fifty-nine of those still detained have been cleared for release with more transfers expected in the coming weeks. Read The full story here.

Back in 2010 JW wrote about a report that the Director of National Intelligence gave Congress documenting that 150 former Gitmo detainees were confirmed or suspected of “reengaging in terrorist or insurgent activities after transfer.” At least 83 remained at large, according to the document. Important Update !
From Daniel Greenfield:
There appears to be no threat that a terrorist can pose and no crime he has committed too severe to prevent him from getting a plane trip out of Gitmo at taxpayer expense. The last releases saw terrorists rated as high risk freed by Obama. They included fighters with experience on the battlefield and covert operations.
Obama set loose a suicide bomber, a document forger and a bomb maker who trained other terrorists to make bombs. Those are exactly the sorts of enemies whose license to Jihad will cost lives.
But that’s nothing compared to Obama’s latest gift to the Jihad. When Mohammed Zahir was caught, among his possessions was found a small sealed can marked, in Russian, “Heavy Water U235 150 Grams.”
According to the classified report, the uranium had been identified by Zahir “in his memorandum as being intended for the production of an “atom bomb.”
Zahir was not just another captured Jihadist. He was the Secretary General of the Taliban’s Intelligence Directorate and was in contact with top leaders of the Taliban and Al Qaeda.
His possessions included a fax with questions intended for Osama bin Laden and he had been arrested on suspicion of possessing Stinger missiles. But that may not have even been the worst of it. Among the items was a notebook containing references to large sugar shipments to Washington D.C.
Investigators believed that sugar was used as a code word for heroin. The Black Sea stops mentioned in the notebook are major hubs for smuggling heroin and for nuclear smuggling as well.
