Money-pit - Turkish Presidential Palace now to get horse farm.

Money pit - Turkish Presidential Palace now to get horse farm.(BG).

The 1,000-room Presidential Palace inaugurated by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan continues to stir controversy as a budget hog, with eight new acres recently added to the palace ground to be used as a stable and horse field.

The Turkish Daily Millet reports that 50 horses ranging from TRY 40,000 to TRY 70,000 will be acquired for the farm to be built on the grounds on the Presidential Palace “Ak Saray."

Recently 8,406 square meters were granted to the palace grounds by an Ankara Municipality Assembly ruling. The news comes a day after Turkish media reported that power bills for the past three months amounted to TRY 3.6 million.

The news comes as the latest controversy surrounding the lavish palace’s expenses. While the government has said the cost of the palace complex stands at TRY 1.37 billion, the Ankara Chamber of Architects has indicated that the total cost of the palace is more likely to have exceeded TRY 5 billion.

The complex was built on an area of 300,000 square meters within the Atatürk Forest Farm (AOÇ) despite a court ruling that ordered the construction be stopped because it was a specially-designated conservation zone. Hmmmm.......A little known fact is that Pres Erdogan is an impressive horseman, probably a legacy from Ottoman DNA. Good luck with the temperament of those 'Arabians'.

Actually Bikes are not his 'thing' as well.
