I have been informed that a documentary film, “Seyfofilmen” would be broadcasted on the Channel TV4 Fakta on Sunday, April 24, 2016.

First of all, I fully respect freedom of expression and your esteemed Channel’s full liberty to broadcast on any issue.

I don’t want to prejudge the content of Seyfofilmen. However, I would like to provide you with some information regarding the events of 1915.

As you are aware, in the last years of the Ottoman Empire and the WWI all people of the Empire have greatly suffered regardless of their religious or ethnic origin.

To recall that period of History in a fair and objective manner is a prerequisite not only for shedding light on the present and future, but also for expressing our indebtedness to all those who have suffered.

There is no historical, academic or legal consensus on how to define “the 1915 events”. Genocide is a specific crime defined by international law. The 1948 UN Convention stipulates what genocide is and states that only a competent international tribunal can determine whether a particular event is genocide.

Conventional wisdom suggests that broadcasting of a documentary film comprising one-sided views of “the 1915 events” will fail to serve the principle of objectivity of broadcasting.

I hope you will review the subject once more and reconsider your decision on broadcasting of the above-mentioned documentary film with a balanced and sensible attitude.

Vice speaker of Russia’ State Duma (lower house of parliament) Sergei Zheleznyak has said a "third force" is behind developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh region describing them as a provocation.

"It is clear that the force that continues to fan the flames of war in the Middle East, Central Asia and the Caucasus dissatisfied with the peacekeeping and counter-terror success of Russia and our allies in Syria is interested in the speedy exacerbation of the protracted conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh region," the parliamentarian wrote on his Facebook page on Saturday.

According to Zheleznyak, "neither Azerbaijan nor Armenia essentially need this exacerbation now."

He noted that "there is every likelihood that this provocation has been organized by a third force," adding that "information on its presence is beginning to leak out."

In view of this, he drew attention to the fact that "at night in the mountains it is enough to have a few trained armed persons who know the opposing sides’ balance of forces to provoke them to open reciprocal ‘reprisal’ fire."

"That’s why the Russian president and our government agencies urge Armenia and Azerbaijan to cease fire and not to allow to draw them into someone else’s insidious game, as long as it is still possible," he noted, adding that "Russia will do its utmost to defuse tensions in the Caucasus."

Clashes erupted between troops from Azerbaijan and the rebel Nagorno-Karabakh region on Saturday, the two sides said, disputing who had violated a fragile ceasefire again.

Nagorno-Karabakh's military also said that Armenian anti-aircraft forces downed an Azeri helicopter, although the report was denied by Azerbaijan.

Nagorno-Karabakh, which lies inside Azerbaijan but is controlled by ethnic Armenians, has run its own affairs with heavy military and financial backing from Armenia since a separatist war ended in 1994.

Both sides report numerous casualties, accusing each other on Saturday of violating a ceasefire, a sign that the two-decade-old conflict which has left some 30,000 people dead is far from a peaceful resolution.

Similar violence was reported last month.

"The enemy, using tanks, artillery and aviation made attempts to get deep into the defense lines of the Nagorno-Karabakh Army of Defense and capture tactical positions. The enemy was thwarted," the Armenian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

War erupted over Nagorno-Karabakh in 1991 as the Soviet Union broke up, and killed about 30,000 people. A ceasefire was called in 1994 but violence has sporadically broken out since.

Moscow has submitted data on Turkey’s illegal arms and military hardware supply to Islamic State in Syria to the UN Security Council. Supplies are supervised by the Turkish intelligence service, Russian UN envoy Vitaly Churkin said as cited by Russian media.

The main supplier of arms and military equipment to Islamic State (IS, Daesh, formerly ISIS/ISIL) militants is Turkey, which uses non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for this purpose. 

The National Intelligence Organization of Turkey is in charge of the operations. Transportation is carried out mainly via automobiles, including humanitarian aid convoys, Churkin wrote in a letter to the UN Security Council (UNSC).

Terrorist groups operating in Syria received explosive materials worth $ 1.9 million via Turkey last year, according to the letter.

In total, the terrorists were delivered 2.5 thousand tons of ammonium nitrate (worth around $788,700), 456 tons of potassium nitrate ($468,700), 75 tons of aluminum powder ($496,500), sodium nitrate ($19,400), glycerin ($102,500) and nitric acid ($34,000 thousand) via Turkey in 2015, Churkin wrote. he United States has agreed to fund a multi-million-dollar project to install an electronic security surveillance system on Tunisia's border with strife-torn Libya, the US embassy said Friday.

In a statement, the diplomatic mission said that the US was disbursing the first installment of the $24.9 million project to strengthen security along the frontier.

The US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) awarded the contract to American construction group BTP and consulting and engineering firm AECOM, a diplomatic source told AFP.

According to the embassy, the project involves the installation of an integrated surveillance system using sensors and regular security equipment.

The project includes training Tunisian forces to use the system, the statement added, without giving a start or completion date.

Tunisia has built a 200-kilometer (125-mile) barrier that stretches about half the length of its border with Libya in an attempt to prevent militants from infiltrating.

On February 24, 2016, a letter from an Islamic State (ISIS) fighter to ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi was posted on social media. In it, the fighter strongly protests the close ties and cooperation between ISIS's Sinai province and Hamas, particularly Hamas's military wing.

This letter is the first confirmation of ties between the two organizations that comes from ISIS itself, and a unique firsthand account of the nature of these ties. It appears that the document was not meant for circulation outside ISIS, and to have been leaked by Al-Qaeda supporters.[1]

The letter is by ISIS fighter Abu 'Abdallah Al-Muhajir, who presents himself as a Gazan who joined ISIS in Syria. He writes that he decided to appeal to Al-Baghdadi in order to fulfill his duty as a Muslim to give loyal advice to the leader of the Muslims. His letter is based on his own personal knowledge from his time in Gaza, as well as on information provided to him by other fighters who came to Syria from the Gaza Strip.

With regard to the ties between Hamas and ISIS's Sinai Province, Abu 'Abdallah explains the areas in which the groups collaborate:

ISIS fighters in Sinai are smuggling weapons into Gaza for Hamas; Hamas is producing weapons and explosive devices for ISIS Sinai; Hamas is providing logistical assistance to ISIS Sinai, including communications systems and hospitalization for its wounded fighters in Gaza; and ISIS Sinai officials are visiting Gaza and dining at the homes of Hamas government and military wing officials.

Abu 'Abdallah says that he considers these Hamas-ISIS Sinai ties a violation of the principle of loyalty to the Muslims and rejection of non-Muslims (Al-Walaa Wal-Baraa), stating ISIS considers Hamas a movement that has betrayed Islam and that as such there is no justification, even on the pretext of tactical, operational, and logistical necessity, for maintaining ties with it.

Noting that what motivated him to take the unusual step of writing directly to Al-Baghdadi was the rising rage and frustration among ISIS supporters in Gaza who feel abandoned by the ISIS leadership and by ISIS Sinai, Abu 'Abdallah expresses harsh criticism of ISIS Sinai for its warm relationship with Hamas.

Hamas, he says, is persecuting and torturing ISIS loyalists, and adds that the disconnect between ISIS supporters in Gaza and ISIS Sinai itself is so great that the Gaza jihadis are now questioning the sincerity of ISIS Sinai's loyalty to ISIS itself and are hesitant to join with it.

Abu 'Abdallah's letter caused a stir among ISIS supporters, particularly in Gaza, both because of its content and because such a direct appeal to ISIS leader Al-Baghdadi had been posted online.

A group of pro-ISIS media activists in Gaza, Al-Nusra Al-Maqdisiya, which publishes and disseminates pro-ISIS materials on social media. responded to the letter's publication; however, it denied neither Abu 'Abdallah's claims in the letter, nor the details he gave about the Hamas-ISIS Sinai relationship. Turkey is trying to hide illegal activities near the border with Syria by denying a Russian observation flight over its territory, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

"Ankara had no right to deny the observation mission over its territory," she said. "Its refusal indicates the Turkish side’s intention to hide some kind of activity that takes place in the areas over which a Russian aircraft was to fly."

The diplomat drew attention to the fact that Ankara argues that Moscow’s statements on illegal activities near the Turkish-Syrian border were groundless. "It was a great chance to dot the i’s and close the issue," Zakharova said.

"The fact that we were refused means that there is something to hide and we know what is hidden," she said. "We constantly talk about it."

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on Saturday he was ready for a ceasefire, on condition "terrorists" did not use a lull in fighting to their advantage and that countries backing insurgents halted support for them.


His comments were made as the Syrian opposition said it had agreed to the "possibility" of a temporary truce, provided there were guarantees Damascus's allies including Russia would cease fire, sieges were lifted and aid deliveries were allowed country-wide.

"We have said that we are ready to stop military operations, but the issue relates to more important factors ... such as preventing terrorists from using it to improve their positions," Assad told Spanish newspaper El Pais in an interview.

He also said any truce must ensure that "other countries, especially Turkey, are prevented from sending more terrorists and weapons, or any kind of logistical support".


Damascus refers to all insurgents fighting against the Syrian army and its allies as terrorists.
  He told El Pais his troops were now close to fully controlling the northern city of Aleppo and were advancing towards the Islamic State stronghold of Raqqa province.

Once he has control of the country, Assad also said in the interview, the next step would be to form a national unity government that would lay the groundwork for a new constitution and general elections. Read the full story here.

In an interview with the Syrian Sama TV channel, Russian diplomat Maria Khodynskaya-Golenishcheva said that U.N. Special Envoy for the Syria Crisis Staffan de Mistura had "committed several mistakes" during the preparations for the Geneva III Conference. "To this day, de Mistura refused to accept the delegation of the opposition coming from inside Syria," said Khodynskaya-Golenishcheva, the spokeswoman for the Russian Diplomatic Delegation to Geneva, in the interview, which aired on February 7, 2016. "This is a grave mistake, and we hope it is rectified before the talks resume," she said.

Following are excerpts:

Maria Khodynskaya-Golenishcheva: "Before the talks are resumed, de Mistura must resolve some problems pertaining to these talks. First of all, he should resolve the problem of Kurdish representation. The Kurds are an inseparable part of Syrian society, and unless the Kurds participate in the talks, it will be impossible to reach a decision on any article on the agenda, including the issues of a ceasefire, of combating terrorism, and so on.

During the preparations for the Geneva III Conference, de Mistura has committed several mistakes, including his refraining from forming an opposition delegation, which would represent the entire spectrum of the opposition.

"To this day, de Mistura refuses to accept the delegation of the opposition coming from inside Syria, and consisting of people who did not leave their homeland. This is a grave mistake, and we hope it is rectified before the talks resume. 

The fundamental reason for the suspension of the talks is the withdrawal of Riyadh's opposition delegation from the talks, and its insistence on its preconditions.  It is important to note that this contradicts U.N. Security Council Resolution 2254, which states that there must not be any preconditions. The government delegation came to Geneva at the scheduled time, and was ready to discuss all the articles on the agenda, which is very good...

A truck rigged with explosives has crashed into a police training camp in Zliten, Libya. It exploded leaving at least 65 people dead, according to the hospital source. Up to 100 are believed to have injured.

The explosion at the Libyan Interior Ministry training camp occurred at 8:00am local time.  A truck drove through the gates of the facility as hundreds of cadets were gathering for a graduation ceremony.

Reportedly, the camp training coast guards accommodates up to 400 trainees.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the apparent terror attack.

The port of Zliten is about 160 kilometers to the east of the capital Tripoli.

Misurata Central Hospital has called on all citizens to donate blood to save the lives of those injured in the bombing.

The Accident and Emergency Department of the Central Hospital reports that fifty wounded have been brought to the hospital so far.

The head of the hospital's emergency department said the injuries of those admitted range from moderate to very serious, adding that four of the hospitalized have died. Read the full story here.

An Iranian official has warned Turkey not to engage in negotiations to normalize relations with Israel.

“The Muslim governments should adopt policies which meet their and the Islamic Ummah’s interests as well as the rights of the Palestinian nation,” Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaber Ansari told reporters in Tehran, the Fars News Agency reported.

“The Turkish government shouldn’t pursue a different path (in relations) with the Quds (Jerusalem) occupying regime under such conditions that its relations with the neighboring governments have gone under certain developments,” Ansari said.

Ansari’s comments follow reports that Israel and Turkey are close to normalizing diplomatic relations after the 2010 Mavi Marmara incident in which Israeli commandos boarded the flotilla that was attempting to break the blockade of Gaza and nine Turkish citizens were killed in clashes.

On Monday, Turkey expelled Hamas’ senior representative in Istanbul, Saleh al-Arouri, which was one of Israel’s requests for normalization.

However, Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan reportedly said he will continue to support Hamas in spite of Israel’s request to end relations. Hmmm........Any Israeli trusting the Erdogan 'Regime' should be institutionalized.

"It's a face-saving show of allied support for Turkey while trying to get them to behave more intelligently,"

NATO plans to send air defense support to Turkey partly to minimize the risk of Ankara shooting down another Russian warplane while assuaging its fears of a spillover from the conflict in Syria, senior alliance sources say.

The mission, expected to be approved by the Western defense alliance's council on Friday, has been under preparation for 10 months, long before the incident with Russia, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said it is not linked.

But NATO sources said the shooting down had galvanized allies to come forward with more support and tailor the assistance to help lower tensions between Moscow and Ankara by taking a role in managing Turkish airspace.

"NATO rules of engagement are more cautious than those of Turkey," said one NATO source.(Turkey not a member of NATO?)

NATO allies do not dispute Ankara's version of the facts, but they are keen to engage Russia in talks to avoid incidents that could flare from Moscow's aggressive patrolling of alliance air borders around Turkey, the Baltic states and the North Sea.

"NATO will increasingly take over management of Turkish airspace, so the Turks will have to be mindful of the fact that we will have eyes in the sky that can give a second opinion on any situation," the NATO source said.

"What would probably happen is that SACEUR will insist that if an airborne contact is being tracked through a NATO AWACS, i.e. non Turkish, any action the Turks chose to take be coordinated with NATO commanders and in effect NATO would have a red card," said Justin Bronk, a specialist in combat air power and technology at Britain's RUSI defense think-tank. About 100 gunmen kidnapped at least 26 Qatari nationals from a hunting ground in a desert are not far from the Saudi border early on Wednesday morning, Reuters quotes a regional governor and police officials as saying.

“An armed group driving dozens of pickup trucks kidnapped at least 26 Qatari hunters from their camp in the area of Busaya in Samawa desert near Saudi borders,” Samawa governor Falih al-Zayady is quoted as saying.

A local police official, unnamed by Reuters, is quoted as saying: “We are talking about at least 100 gunmen armed with light and medium weapons broke into the Qatari camp and abducted the hunters at around 3 am local time on Wednesday.”

Hackers trace ISIS Twitter accounts back to internet addresses Sold to Saudi Arabia. (Mirror).

Hackers have claimed that a number of Islamic State supporters' social media accounts are being run from internet addresses linked to the Department of Work and Pensions.

A group of four young computer experts who call themselves VandaSec have unearthed evidence indicating that at least three ISIS-supporting accounts can be traced back to the DWP's London offices.

The hacking collective showed Mirror Online details of the IP addresses used by a trio of separate digital jihadis to access Twitter accounts, which were then used to carry out online recruitment and propaganda campaigns.

At first glance, the IP addresses seem to be based in Saudi Arabia, but upon further inspection using specialist tools they appeared to link back to the DWP.

However, when Mirror Online traced the IP addresses obtained by VandaSec, we found they actually pointed to a series of unpublicised transactions between Britain and Saudi Arabia.

We learned that the British government sold on a large number of IP addresses to two Saudi Arabian firms.

After the sale completed in October of this year, they were used by extremists to spread their message of hate.

Jamie Turner, an expert from a firm called PCA Predict, discovered a record of the sale of IP addresses, and found a large number were transferred to Saudi Arabia in October of this year.

The Cabinet Office has now admitted to selling the IP addresses on to Saudi Telecom and the Saudi-based Mobile Telecommunications Company earlier this year as part of a wider drive to get rid of a large number of the DWP's IP addresses.

It said the British government can have no control over how these addresses are used after the sale. Hmmmm.....I'm sure the Islamic coalition will solve this within hours (Sarc). Read the full story here.
