Turkey’s Claims Aimed at Justifying 'Neo - Ottoman' Expansionist Policies: Iran.

Turkey’s Claims Aimed at Justifying 'Neo - Ottoman' Expansionist Policies: Iran. (IFP).

Iran has dismissed the recent “unacceptable and unjustifiable” remarks by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan against Tehran, saying Ankara is leveling accusations against other countries to justify its expansionist policies.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi expressed regret on Sunday that Turkish officials continue to make “baseless, meddlesome and troublesome” remarks against the country’s neighbors.
“By accusing others and repeating fictitious claims, they [Turkish officials] are trying to justify their meddlesome and expansionist policies toward their neighbors,” he added.
Speaking at a Turkish-British forum in the southern city of Antalya on Saturday, the Turkish president accused Iran of adopting and pursuing “racist and discriminatory” policies in Iraq.

The Iranian spokesperson also dismissed as incorrect comments by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Veysi Kaynak, who recently claimed that some three million refugees, mostly Afghans, were trying to go to Turkey from Iran, expressing concern that Iran was “ignoring their demand for migration.”
“Iran has been hosting millions of refugees from its neighboring countries for more than 30 years,” Qassemi said.
“Turkey must learn from Iran how it has hosted millions of refugees for more than three decades and has never abused this human and humanitarian issue for specific and politically-motivated purposes against any other country.”
He recommended Turkish officials to avoid conflating humanitarian issues with political disputes, urging them to respect the national sovereignty of their neighboring states, particularly Iraq and Syria.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran regards respect for the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of neighboring countries as the best option for strengthening and developing relations among nations and countries,” Qassemi said.

Iran also considers “constructive dialogue with neighbors, instead of accusing others, as the most appropriate way” to deepen ties with them, he pointed out.

'Islamist' Turkey building Military training camp in Somalia only to mine later for copper, uranium and gold?

'Islamist' Turkey building Military training camp in Somalia only to mine later for copper, uranium and gold?  HT: Abdbozkurt.

Turkey has finished its first military base in Somalia and will help train the country’s army to fight the deadly al-Shabaab terror group, a senior Turkish source told Anadolu Agency on Oct. 1.

A Turkish military attache speaking on condition of anonymity said the U.N.-backed base will be operational by the start of 2017.

About 200 Turkish officers will be deployed to the facility in Mogadishu -the Somali capital - to deliver the first stage of training to over 10,000 Somali National Army troops and others soldiers from across Africa, he confirmed.

Turkish military officials in Somalia also said Ankara will open a firm in Mogadishu to make Somali military uniforms.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency on Sept. 30, Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamed praised Turkey’s involvement in the Horn of Africa country:

"Turkey’s prominent role in Somalia can be seen at all levels: humanitarian, infrastructure, health and investment. Hmmm..........So far the 'Official version for the public' now to behind the 'Palace doors of the 'caliph'

And then there's this from Erdogan's favorite 'humanitarian group' IHH, can't hurt to be on both sides of the fence:

"Russian Campaign Saved Syria from Becoming Part of New Ottoman Empire": PYD co-chairman Saleh Muslim.

"Russian Campaign Saved Syria from Becoming Part of New Ottoman Empire": PYD co-chairman Saleh Muslim. (IFPNews).

Russia’s aerial campaign in Syria has reinforced Moscow’s positions among other countries and contributed to the multi-polarity in the world, Syria’s Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) co-chairman Saleh Muslim said.

“The Russian campaign in Syria has strengthened country’s positions in the world affairs. I believe, this was the end of the uni-polar world. We can talk about multi-polar world now,” Muslim said, as reported by Sputnik and covered by ISNA.

He added that Moscow’s aerial campaign had also changed Washington’s perception of terrorists, pushing the United States to change its stance with regard to several militant groups in the region.

According to the PYD co-chairman, Russia’s support of Syria prevented the Middle Eastern nation “from being cut into pieces and becoming a part of a new Ottoman Empire.”

'Neo Ottoman Times' - In Istanbul, 2,000 drummers to wake up their neighborhood for Ramadan.

'Neo Ottoman Times' - In Istanbul, 2,000 drummers to wake up their neighborhood for Ramadan. (E24/7).

In the dark of night, when the streets of Istanbul enjoy a rare moment of quiet, Ali Buldu sets out beating his drum to wake up his neighborhood. For most, Buldu's passing is a welcomed sign that the Muslim month of fasting and prayer has begun.

The 55-year-old decked in traditional Ottoman attire has been making these pre-dawn Ramadan rounds for half of his life. It's a tradition he treasures, just like his forefathers did, and one that he is trying to pass on to the next generation.

Roughly 2,000 drummers wander around Istanbul's neighborhoods during Ramadan, a time when Muslim families fast from sunrise to sundown and come together for prayer and copious meals sweetened by dates and pastries to break off the fast. The drummers wander the streets to wake up residents for 'suhoor' — meals eaten before dawn.

"The Ramadan drummer has existed since the age of the Ottomans," Buldu says with pride as his 23-year-old nephew Emrah, who is joining him in the tradition, vigorously stirs sugar into his teacup before they march off in different directions at the speed of seasoned soldiers.

On average, Istanbul's drummers are in their forties or fifties. Most young people are not interested in taking on the task and seek out different jobs, says Buldu who picked up the sticks when his uncle died. Sometimes, the veteran drummer worries the craft will disappear and that drummers will be unceremoniously replaced by alarm clocks.

However, the introduction of Ottoman costumes five years ago and official membership cards for those who play have restored a sense of pride to the age-old tradition and helped expand the network of drummers in the booming metropolis.

In the past three years, the ranks of drummers have grown from about 900 to 2,000, says Selami Aykut, a neighborhood administrator in the middleclass district of Bahcelievler. Before, there would be just one drummer per neighborhood.

"We want to keep the old traditions alive," Aykut tells the AP after his family shares a light pre-dawn meal. Read the full story here.

'Sometimes NATO Ally' Turkey is key supplier of weapons, military hardware to ISIS - Russian envoy to UN .

Obama's BFF Turkey is key supplier of weapons, military hardware to ISIS - Russian envoy to UN . (RT).

Moscow has submitted data on Turkey’s illegal arms and military hardware supply to Islamic State in Syria to the UN Security Council. Supplies are supervised by the Turkish intelligence service, Russian UN envoy Vitaly Churkin said as cited by Russian media.

The main supplier of arms and military equipment to Islamic State (IS, Daesh, formerly ISIS/ISIL) militants is Turkey, which uses non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for this purpose.

The National Intelligence Organization of Turkey is in charge of the operations. Transportation is carried out mainly via automobiles, including humanitarian aid convoys, Churkin wrote in a letter to the UN Security Council (UNSC).

Terrorist groups operating in Syria received explosive materials worth $ 1.9 million via Turkey last year, according to the letter.

In total, the terrorists were delivered 2.5 thousand tons of ammonium nitrate (worth around $788,700), 456 tons of potassium nitrate ($468,700), 75 tons of aluminum powder ($496,500), sodium nitrate ($19,400), glycerin ($102,500) and nitric acid ($34,000 thousand) via Turkey in 2015, Churkin wrote. Hmmm........Anyone Surprised?

Turkey calls joint ‘genocide’ remarks by Armenian and Greek leaders ‘pathetic’.

As of 2015 [update], the governments of twenty-six countries, including Russia, France, and Germany, as well as forty-three states of the United States of America, have recognized the events as 'genocide'. The governments of Turkey and Azerbaijan deny the Armenian Genocide.

Turkey calls joint ‘genocide’ remarks by Armenian and Greek leaders ‘pathetic’. (HD).

Armenian and Greek leaders’ joint portrayal of the events that took place in Anatolia during World War I as “genocide” has deeply angered Ankara, which labeled their statement as “the product of a pathetic mentality.”

Titled “Regarding the Statements of the Greek Prime Minister Mr. Alexis Tsipras, and President Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos on the Occasion of the Visit of the President of Armenia Mr. Serzh Sargsyan, Referring to Historical Events During the Disintegration of the Ottoman Empire and Containing Grave Allegations Against Turkey and the Turkish Identity,” the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s reaction came in the form of an official answer to a journalist’s question by Spokesperson Tanju Bilgiç late on March 17.

“The statements in question are the product of a pathetic mentality proving that the relations and solidarity between Greece and Armenia are built upon a joint hostility and slander language directed against the Turkish identity,” Bilgiç said.

“Turkey and the Turkish people will never give credit to those bringing to the fore at every opportunity a dictum of history which is unlawful, disconnected with realities, one-sided and obsessive,” he concluded.

Greece says thousands of ethnic Greeks who had been living on the southern shores of the Black Sea for centuries were massacred in Turkey during strife that accompanied the fall of the Ottoman Empire and the creation of the modern Turkish state.

Armenia charges that as many as 1.5 million of its kin were victims of genocide during World War I under the Ottoman Empire.

Ankara rejects the “genocide” charge, countering that 300,000 to 500,000 Armenians and at least as many Turks died in civil strife when Armenians rose up against their Ottoman rulers and sided with invading Russian forces.

Tsipras was meanwhile quoted in media as speaking of “Greeks’ and Armenians’ history of suffering and persecution,” on the same occasion.

Tsipras said that both peoples were “victims of genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turks during World War I,” according to Massis Weekly, an official publication of the Armenian Social Democratic Hunchakian Party.

'EU should not engage in bazaar-style haggling with Turkey': Cypriot House Speaker.

'EU should not engage in bazaar-style haggling with Turkey': Cypriot House Speaker. (CyprusMail).

The EU should not engage in ‘bazaar-type’ haggling with Turkey over the migrant deal due to be thrashed out on Thursday in Brussels, House Speaker Yiannakis Omirou said on Sunday.

He warned that European institutions which were going to go against their own decisions would lose credibility.

Omirou was commenting on Tuesday’s visit by European Council President Donald Tusk to Cyprus, something he said came as a bit of a suprise. Tusk is coming to meet President Nicos Anastasiades ahead of Thursday’s summit as there are fears in Brussels that Cyprus could scupper the migrant deal by sticking to its veto on opening accession chapters for Turkey, which Ankara is demanding as part of a migrant deal.

Omirou urged the European Council to categorically reject Turkish demands, which, he said, were in no way related to the handling of the refugee crisis.

The European Council ought to safeguard its authority and credibility, as well as its own decisions, the House President went on.

When Turkey refuses to comply, the European Council can not exert pressure on the Republic of Cyprus in order to violate own decisions, he said.

Turkey has failed to comply with an EU decision that it recognizes the Republic of Cyprus and opens its ports and airports to Cyprus’ air and sea traffic.

Out of the 35 chapters Turkey must conclude as part of its accession negotiations, Cyprus has unilaterally frozen six, while additional chapters remain blocked by France.

Video - "We're taking over this Country": 'Ottoman Germania' threatens Germans in music video.

While many artists in the German Rap scene show hostility towards German culture and Germans in general, this music video by the German - Turkish boxing gang "Osmanen Germania" (freely translated Ottoman German Empire) released last year takes the absurdity to another level. It combines elements of biker-culture and German folk elements with Muslim faith and the self-proclaimed goal of a hostile takeover of the entire country - all while being proud to claim some traditional German culture as their own as a trophy.

In the video, the lead rapper claims Germans are weak and know nothing about brotherhood, while (as Allah is willing) Muslims will take over the country. He claims they are stronger, know how to fight, are ready to die in battle in a martyrs death and will "rob the last shirt" of Germans. Hmmm.......The odds of them being pro AKP are probably very high.HT To InfidelBloggers for spotting this 'hate speech'.

EU calls on 'Sometimes NATO Ally' Turkey to halt military action in Syria.

EU calls on 'Sometimes NATO Ally' Turkey to halt military action in Syria.(HD).

European Union officials have called on Turkey to halt its military action in Syria after Turkish forces shelled positions held by the Democratic Union Party (PYD) over the weekend.

Responding to a question on the announcement made by Turkey and Saudi Arabia that they could intervene in Syria, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said Feb. 15 that Ankara’s actions violated the decision reached on Feb. 12 in Munich to reach a “cessation of hostilities.”

“Only a few days ago, all of us, including Turkey … decided on steps to de-escalate and have a cessation of hostilities,” Mogherini said Feb. 15 in Brussels.

“Having trends on the ground that go in the opposite direction obviously is not what we expect,” Mogherini said.

Meanwhile, Dutch Foreign Minister Bert Koenders, whose country holds the EU’s rotating presidency, said “we have the plan for a cessation of hostilities and I think everybody has to abide by that,” the Associated Press reported. Hmmm.....The truth is the MB Club just loves to protect terrorists and kill Kurds.

'Sometimes NATO Ally' Turkey kills 29 Kurdish fighters with artillery strikes in Syria.

'Sometimes NATO Ally' Turkey kills 29 Kurdish fighters with artillery strikes in Syria. (Hln). [Google translated].

The Turkish army has killed with his artillery attacks 29 Kurdish fighters in northern Syria.

The victims were in the district of Azaz, in northern Aleppo province, as the Turkish Anadolu news agency reported today on the basis of a leader of the Syrian rebel group Jabhat al-Sham.

According to the rebel leader there were ten victims in the city Minnigh, near a military airport. In addition, twelve deaths also fell in Maranas and seven in Mary Amin.

Earlier, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights have reported that at least two members of the organization led by the Kurds Democratic Forces of Syria (DFS) were killed  in the bombing.

There was also talk of seven wounded DFS fighters. The Kurdish news agency Hawar reported two killed fighters. DFS is a coalition of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), which controls large parts of northern Syria, with other groups, including Arab fighters.

YPG fighting in the region against fighters from the jihadist terror group Islamic State (IS). It receives support from both the West and Russia, but Turkey wants to prevent the Kurds get the full Syrian border under control. The Kurds have been establishing self-government in large parts of the area.

Introduction of Saudi and Turkish ground forces in Syria would be a Major escalation.

Introduction of Saudi and Turkish ground forces in Syria would be a Major escalation ahead of planned cease-fire. (Jpost).

Just one day after American and Russian officials negotiated the temporary cease-fire plan, foreign governments supporting rebel groups increased their shipments of ground-toground missiles to fighters in and around Aleppo, once Syria’s largest city, currently nearly surrounded by Assad government forces.

Any temporary cessation of hostilities or more formal ceasefire will not include Islamic State and the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front.

Saudi Arabia and Turkey confirmed they are preparing to invade Syria on the ground, ostensibly in support of the US-led coalition against Islamic State. And Turkish media stated the military had shelled regime positions in northwestern Syria on Saturday.

The introduction of Saudi and Turkish ground forces in Syria would risk direct confrontation between Turkey and Russia in Syria’s west, between Turkish and Kurdish fighters in its north, and between Saudi and Iranian forces across the nation as Tehran continues its efforts to bolster the Assad regime.

Further complicating Turkey’s direct involvement is the potential for conflict with Syria’s Kurds – American allies in the campaign against Islamic State both in Syria and Iraq. Fighting between Turkish and Kurdish troops may result in Ankara losing some of its own territory, former Turkish foreign minister Yasar Yakıs warned over the weekend.

At a security conference in Munich, where Russian diplomats agreed to the cease-fire in principle, US Secretary of State John Kerry repeated his belief that the Syrian conflict has no military solution.
Assad disagreed, asserting in a rare interview on Friday that he intends to take back all of Syria’s territory.

“The solution will take a long time and will incur a heavy price,” he said, but “this is a goal we are seeking to achieve, without any hesitation.”

Assad also said he was prepared for an invasion of Turkish forces, which he said would be “at odds with logic.”

“I don’t rule that out for a simple reason: [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan is a fanatical person with Muslim Brotherhood inclinations,” Assad told Agence France-Presse. “He is living the Ottoman dream.

“For him, the collapse [during World War I of Turkish power] which took place in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Syria is something personal,” Assad continued. “This threatens his political future, on the one hand, and his fanatical Islamist ambitions, on the other. He believes that he has an Islamist mission in our region. The same applies to Saudi Arabia. The collapse of the terrorists in Syria is a collapse of their policies.” Hmmmm.......The Middle East would be much better off without the Muslim Brotherhood. Read the full story here.

Iraqi PM Abadi: There's No evidence Turkey wants to combat ISIS.

Iraqi PM Abadi: There's No evidence Turkey wants to combat ISIS. (Rudaw).

Iraq's Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi says that there is no evidence to indicate that Turkey wants to fight the Islamic State (ISIS).

"The Turks are telling us otherwise, [that] they're eager to fight Daesh [ISIS]. But I'm telling them frankly, I'm not seeing evidence of that. I hope I see more evidence of that," Abadi told CNBC News at Davos, Switzerland on his visit to the World Economic Forum.

"I think they have to shift their priority from considering the Kurds as their problem, to Daesh as their major problem. I think that the bombing of some targets inside Turkey by Daesh, that's an alarm to them. They must take it seriously," he added.

Abadi went on to allege that the Turkish deployment in Camp Bashiqa in Iraq's Nineveh Province has little to do with helping Sunni and Kurdish Peshmerga fighters combat ISIS despite Ankara's assertions.

"I think Turkey is looking to go back to the Ottoman Empire thing, I don't think there's a place in the region for that. We have to keep a good relationship with our neighbour, Turkey, we've been working very hard to keep that good relationship, and as the prime minister of Iraq, I'm very keen to improve our good relationship, which we have done, but of course the extension of the crossing of Turkish military units into Iraq is not helpful at all," Abadi stated.

Turkey had initially sent trainers to Bashiqa over a year ago with Baghdad's consent. However last December a diplomatic crisis was sparked by Turkey's deployment of additional soldiers to the camp to secure it. Since then Turkey claims it was attacked by ISIS three times. Baghdad believes only one such attack took place, accusing Turkey of making the other two up. Ankara insists that having soldiers there is a necessity giving the eternal threat of an ISIS attack or infiltration into the base.

Turkey Pres. Outlines Plans for Safe Zone 45 Km inside Syrian territory.

Turkey Pres. Outlines Plans for Safe Zone 45 Km inside Syrian territory. (Novinite).

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has given details on Ankara's proposal that a safe zone should be set up in Syria as a step to address the migrant crisis.

In an interview with Al Arabiya TV, he has said the zone could become temporary home to refugees currently living in the camps of Turkey who would like to return to their country.

Reaching 45 km into Syrian territory in the beginning, it has to stretch along 98 km of the Turkey-Syrian border, and accommodation for Syrians will be built as part of the project, Erdogan has explained.

Even though funding might be secured through a campaign, the project is met with resistance from a number of countries such as the United States, according to the Turkish head of state.

Bulgaria earlier this year said it supported Turkey's proposal and considered it an important step to address the migrant crisis. Hmmm.....UN Resolutions? What UN Resolutions?.....We don't listen to stinking UN resolutions....we're Ottoman conquerors.

Angry Athens Rejects 'Neo Ottoman conqueror' Turkey's Aegean Sea Airspace Claim.

Angry Athens Rejects 'Neo Ottoman conqueror' Turkey's Aegean Sea Airspace Claim. (SP).

Greece's aviation authority has rejected Turkey's announcement of restrictions to airspace over Greek territory in the Aegean Sea.

Greece's civil aviation authority has rejected announcements from Ankara, which seeks to restrict flights over Greek islands in the Aegean Sea for 12 months so that Turkey can carry out military training, Greece's pronews.gr reported on Sunday.

"The Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority has issued a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) to [nullify] and void three Turkish NOTAM, which provocatively and brazenly restrict flights in large areas of the Aegean for even 12 months," wrote pronews.

A NOTAM is a notice filed with an aviation authority that alerts aircraft pilots to potential hazards in an area which could affect the safety of a flight.

Pronews reported that on December 23, Ankara issued NOTAM Α5885/15, Α5884/15 and Α5881/15, which announced restrictions on aviation in the northern, central and southern areas of the Aegean Sea.

The area Turkey wanted to use includes the Athon peninsula in the northern Aegean and the Greek islands of Lemnos, Patmos, Tinos, Mykonos and Skyros among others.

Skyros is among the sites where Greece has a Patriot anti-aircraft missile system installed, while the northern Aegean contains valuable Greek oil and gas reserves, the newspaper noted. Read the full story here.

Iraqi militia: "Evidence reveals Turkish regime affair with ISIS as global threat."

Al-Hashed al-Asha'bi militia spokesman Karim al-Nur

Iraqi militia: "Evidence reveals Turkish regime affair with ISIS as global threat." (RT).

Terrorists are freely crossing the Turkish border back and forth with Ankara providing militants with logistical support, military spokesman for the Iraqi militia told RT, citing “crystal clear” evidence gathered from prisoners and on the battlefield.
According to Karim al-Nouri, spokesman for the Popular Front’s Badr Organization, one of Iraq’s most prominent Shiite militias, their forces were able to secure enough data from the dead ISIS terrorists’ bodies to directly implicate Turkey in involvement with Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) affairs. While the terrorists meticulously destroy any possible evidence in possession of their fighters by burning their corpses along with any electronic devises carried by them, Shiite militia was able to secure some hard data.

“Recently we found a few of their phones which have messages of their orders, coordinates and data on movement of their people,” Nouri told RT. “The problem of ISIL did not just appear out of the blue, somebody is allowing them to freely cross borders… I want the audience to know the extent to which Turkey openly supports ISIS.”

Among the evidence which Nouri claims is now in possession of Iraqi intelligence are photos showing Turkish President Erdogan’s son doing business with ISIS representatives.

“We have photo material and comments on Erdogan’s son, material where he meets with ISIS heads,” Nouri said. “There is nothing fabricated in this case, there is no photoshop. These shots are real. They were made public by ISIS commanders themselves.”
Nouri hopes that Iraqi special forces will eventually come across audio recordings directly implicating the Turkish leadership in shady ISIS deals. The data collected is also being analyzed by Iraq's intelligence to the “degree of participation of the Turkish secret services and their involvement in ISIS affairs.”

Turkey, Nouri is certain, is responsible for treating ISIS fighters on their territory and offering them “safe havens” and transit points for jihadists to move freely and even go back to their home countries.

The spokesman acknowledged that data in possession of the Iraqi intelligence reveals that communications between ISIS and Turkish side are conducted in different languages – Kurdish, Turkuman, English, while they “rarely speak in Arabic.”
“We have documents that prove that the largest logistical support and supply routes are supplied by the Turks,” the spokesman claimed.

In Iraq, Ankara’s strategy, according to Nouri, is to arm and supply the Islamic State to “dismember” Iraq along sectarian lines.

“He [Erdogan] wants to create a Sunni district in Iraq. It is very dangerous. Erdogan intends to contribute to the dismemberment of Iraq. That is why Turkish forces have not left the Iraqi territory till now,” Nouri said about the Turkish December 4 intrusion condemned in Baghdad as violation of country’s sovereignty.

After “checking and rechecking” all the evidence, Nouri says, the allegations will be made public.
“Everything is crystal clear to us here, but we need additional confirmation,” Nouri explained. “We have prisoners, we have some confessions that we want to show the world so that the world can be convinced of the magnitude of threat the Turkish regime poses to the region and to the entire world.” Read the full story here.
