Erdogan to international media: Mind your own elections. (TZ).
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has brushed off criticism from international media organizations about an alarming deterioration in media freedom in Turkey ahead of Sunday's parliamentary election, telling them to focus on elections in their own countries.
“What's that to you?” Erdoğan asked as he spoke to reporters in İstanbul on Saturday. “Mind elections in your own countries.”
Erdoğan's remarks came just a day after dozens of editors from world's leading media organizations wrote to Erdoğan expressing "profound concern" regarding the deteriorating conditions for press freedom in Turkey on the eve of the Nov. 1 vote.
The president claimed that the international media organizations act under orders from what he called a “supreme mind” to attack him and the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) that he founded.
“You read statements made by some international media organizations against me and a certain party upon orders from a supreme mind. These are very meaningful,” Erdoğan said. Hmmmm........Obama's BFF. Read the full story here.
