Climate Scientist Who Got It Right Predicts 20 More Years of Global Cooling

“Dr. Don Easterbrook – a climate scientist and glacier expert from Washington State who correctly predicted back in 2000 that the Earth was entering a cooling phase – says to expect colder temperatures for at least the next two decades,” says CNS News.

“Easterbrook’s predictions were “right on the money” seven years before Al Gore and the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for warning that the Earth was facing catastrophic warming caused by rising levels of carbon dioxide, which Gore called a “planetary emergency.”

We could even plunge into a Little Ice Age

“Easterbrook noted that his 20-year prediction was the “mildest” one of four possible scenarios, all of which involve lower temperatures, and added that only time will tell whether the Earth continues to cool slightly or plunges into another Little Ice Age as it did between 1650 and 1790.
“He lamented the fact that governments worldwide have already spent a trillion dollars fighting the wrong threat.

”Easterbrook said he made his earlier prediction by tracing back “a consistently recurring pattern” of alternating warm and cool ocean cycles called the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) that occurs naturally every 25 to 30 years. He discovered that the PDO corresponded with a similar temperature cycle demonstrated by isotope ratios found in Greenland ice cores going all the way back to 1480.

“We don’t know what the driving mechanism is, but it’s very consistent. It’s happened five times a century and every time it’s happened, there’s been a corresponding change in global temperature, either warm or cool,” Easterbrook told CNSNews.com.

“What I did was I projected this same pattern forward to see what it would look like. And so in 1999, which was the year after the second warmest year on record, the PDO said we’re due for a climate change, and so I said okay. It looks as though we’re going to be entering a period of about three decades or so of global cooling.

“And so in 2000, I published a paper with the Geological Society of America in which I predicted that we were going to stop warming and begin cooling for about 25 or 30 years, on the basis of taking the temperature records that go back a century or more and simply repeating the pattern of warming and cooling, warming and cooling, and so on.

“And that in fact has happened. We have now had 17 years with no global warming and my original prediction was right so far. But we have still probably another 20 years or so to see if the cooling trend continues, and if it does, then my prediction will be right and my methods will be right. And so what it boils down to is, so far so good.”

Easterbrook added that his long-term prediction until the end of century is “a lot more nebulous” due to the still-unknown effect of the sun, which has entered a “grand solar minimum” occurring every 200 years.  “Everything we think depends on what’s going to happen with the sun.”

But based on past climate data, he says the most likely scenarios are “either deep cooling, or a return to another 25-year cycle of light warming/cooling, but nothing even approaching the 10 degrees warming the IPCC folks are predicting.”

Prince of Wales hits out at climate change deniers… labelling them the ‘headless chicken brigade’

Prince of Wales hits out at climate change deniers… labeling them the ‘headless chicken brigade’.(DailyMail). By REBECCA ENGLISH

  • Prince Charles spoke out over ‘sheer intimidation’ of anti-climate change groups
  • Said they turn scientific wisdom on its head to suit their own purposes
  • Was speaking at an event for young entrepreneurs at Buckingham Palace
Inflammatory: Charles said climate change denies use ‘intimidation’ to get their point across
Climate change deniers are headless chickens, Prince Charles has claimed.

In an inflammatory speech, the heir to the throne spoke out against ‘the barrage of sheer intimidation’ from what he described as powerful interest groups.

Addressing young environmental entrepreneurs at Buckingham Palace, he said skeptics were turning accepted scientific wisdom on its head.

He said: ‘It is baffling that in our modern world we have such blind trust in science and technology that we all accept what science tells us about everything – until, that is, it comes to climate science. All of a sudden, and with a barrage of sheer intimidation, we are told by powerful groups of deniers that the scientists are wrong and we must abandon all our faith in so much overwhelming scientific evidence.

‘So, thank goodness for our young entrepreneurs here, who have the far-sightedness and confidence in what they know is happening to ignore the headless chicken brigade and do something practical to help.’

Charles was announcing the winner of a sustainability prize designed to inspire young people to tackle environmental, social and health issues.Read the full story here. More from WattsUpWithThat.

'Global Warming' - SNOWY OWLS FROM ARCTIC REGIONS FLEEING, last time seen at the second coldest Winter.

'Global Warming' - SNOWY OWLS FROM ARCTIC REGIONS FLEEING , last time seen at the second coldest Winter.(Njspotlight).
Bird-watchers and general public warned to keep their distance, since birds may be underfed and overstressed from long journey south.

New Jersey birders are all aflutter over an influx of snowy owls, Arctic predators that seldom stray into the Garden State but are doing so this winter in numbers that are unprecedented in at least 50 years.

By December 6 around 20 of the birds had been seen at various locations including Stone Harbor Point, Sandy Hook, and Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge, starting in late November.

The count sharply exceeds the state’s typical winter tally of zero to three, and is expected to increase as the winter goes on as more birds venture south from their normal wintering grounds in Canada.

“This is really just the beginning,” said Pete Dunne, director of the Cape May Bird Observatory. “When you get an increase this big, typically birds just continue to move in.”

Dunne, a nationally known birding expert, said the birds’ wide dispersion from their normal territory -- known in ornithological circles as an “irruption” -- was unprecedented in his 50 years of birding.

Given the expectation that the owls will continue to arrive, the influx may become the largest since birding records began. “It has the potential to be the biggest irruption ever,” Dunne said. The two previous largest irruptions occurred in the winters of 1890-1891 and 1926-1927.

The birds have clearly been driven south by a shortage of food in their normal wintering habitat, Dunne said, although reasons for the shortage are less clear.

One theory is that the species had a very good breeding season because of an abundance of lemmings -- small rodents that are a major food source for the owls. The resulting population boom means there isn’t enough winter food for all the birds in their regular winter territory, forcing some to fly south.

“There is not enough winter prey to support the expanding population,” Dunne said.

Outside of New Jersey, the birds are appearing in other northeastern states, southeastern Canada, the Great Lakes region, and even Bermuda, said Jeffrey Gordon, president of the American Birding Association.

Snowy Owls -- with distinctive black-and-white patterning and a wing span of more than four feet -- generate excitement among birders at any time because they are big, handsome birds that live in remote regions that most people never visit, Gordon said. The fact that they are now visible in significant numbers, and in unfamiliar habitat like New Jersey, adds to their mystique.

“Most people who watch birds don’t get a chance to see one,” Gordon said. “It’s a reason to celebrate.”Hmmm.......'The two previous largest irruptions occurred in the winters of 1890-1891' .......The winter of 1889 was the second coldest winter in the Netherlands and Belgium in the 19th century and that of 1838, after the coldest since the winter of 1789 revolution Read the full story here.

Gas Exporting Countries Forum in Moscow, you think Natural Gas price will go up?

The Gas Exporting Countries Forum in Moscow.HT: RBTH.

(R-L) Bolivian President Evo Morales, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Russia's President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and other officials pose for a picture at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum at the Kremlin in Moscow, July 1, 2013.

Putin on Monday defended the long-term supply deals under which Russia exports the bulk of its natural gas, saying abandoning them would undermine global energy security.Hmmmm.....My guess they know Global warming is BS, Global Cooling is underway and Natural gas will be in high demand expect prices going up A LOT.
