Ukrainian Interior Ministry confirms death of Italian photographer near Slavyansk.(RBTH).

The Ukrainian Interior Ministry has confirmed the death of an Italian photographer near Slavyansk in Donetsk region but knows nothing about a French journalist or their Russian interpreter.

"We know that the [Italian] photographer died as for his colleague [French journalist], we cannot say anything about him," aide to Interior Minister Slanislav Rechinsky said at a Sunday briefing in Kiev.

He found it difficult to answer a question about the Russian interpreter who accompanied the Italian photographer and French journalist.

Earlier the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said it had no official confirmation of media reports that an Italian journalist and his Russian interpreter were killed near Slavyansk. Neither did the Russian embassy have any official confirmation of the information.

Meanwhile, the French embassy in Ukraine confirmed that a French journalist was wounded near Slavyansk.

Previously, Rossia 24 channel reported that several correspondents from France and Italy had left for the village of Andreyevka near Slavyansk but were caught by mortar fire. The TV report said that a photographer from France was hospitalized. Later it was announced that Italian journalist Andreo Roccelli and his interpreter Andrei Mironov had been killed. According to Rossia 24, Mironov was a Russian citizen.More here.
